I’m having urges at the moment and struggling to understand why I would want to harm the things I love the most. It feels so real. I hate this. Thanks for letting me hear your stories ❤
@@nickiandella6187 hey!! Oh bless you!! Life does get better! I’m in a much better place! I still get the odd thought but nothing like I use to. I actually came to a point where I was that low I don’t give a f”!# what my mind tells me. I was also low in b12 and iron and these can greatly affect mood. I’d get a full blood panel. I’m now on supplements and injections for life for b12 and iron and now my levels are normal I feel so much better. Post partum deficiency is so common as is takes all the vitamins out of your body. It does get better. Honestly. Please check your blood levels. Ask the doctor. If you’ve not long had a baby you could be low in iron from the blood loss. Correcting this and adding vitamin D will make you feel so much better. Then you can manage the thoughts better.
I definitely held back even when I had expensive therapy! I also spoke about it fully when I was having back and forth conversations with the Samaritans via email. The Samaritan I had been speaking with every day for nearly a month disappeared and stopped responding. I felt deflated because that was the first time I had honestly disclosed my mind and poured out my soul.
Unbeknown to me I have had POCD for over 30 years. It has taken me until my 40s to discover what it is I have. I thought I was crazy and needed locking up. I have carried shame and guilt for all those years. I am currently going through a very rough time with urges, thoughts etc but it has made me find out as much as I can about what it is I now know I have. Thank you for this conversation. This is me. It gives me great comfort and relief to realise that there are others who are just like me. I find that very few professionals know much about this and I am so thankful to you all for sharing your stories. Could you tell me what helped the most with your recovery? Thank you!

Hey! Did you ever get through this? I'm in the same boat and I'm on the verge of giving up my baby and I feel like my life is completely over.

@@nickiandella6187 sorry just to add, if you want to watch anyone, the person that helped me was Chrissy hodges. Give her a watch.
Such a fun video everyone! Always a pleasure to get together and talk about our journeys.

Really related to your comments on the intrusive urges and fears, Gemma. It's super helpful to hear from others, thanks so much to all of you.

I love this conversation!
Great work x
I am suffering from intrusive urges, how can I know if these urges are fake or real?
Do you feel guilty about the thoughts? Anxious and telling yourself "this isn't me! I don't want to think that!"?
