#11 Singapore Airlines B747-8 Revell 1/144 Assembly

- What if #2. Singapore Airlines B747-8, which is one of the aircraft that I really wished it were materialized. The B747-8 kit from Revell is just as good as one from Zvezda except one thing that nose gear axis is a bit thin and wheels are small, which makes the entire nose section look kind of unbalanced. Other than that, as I mentioned in the video, the fitting is excellent.
I used all decals included in the kit except those that were for Lufthansa. For the first time ever, I made my original decal for the airline title, the Singapore flag, and some caution decals by laser printing on shop-bought decal sheet.

Very nicely done!! I applaud you!! The Boeing 747-8 would've looked great in the Singapore Airlines fleet. As the greatest airline on the planet and if they would've chose not to get the A380, this airplane would've been their primary flagship. As an avid av-geek, I'm amazed on how wonderful this model looks.
I also wished Singapore Airlines had acquired the B747-8. The aircraft would've looked stunning for sure.
Great build maan. The best 747 build I've seen till date. Really the Queen of Skies will remain beautiful and noble in the minds and hearts of aviation fans like us.👌🏼❤️

They are metallic enamel paint markers and can be found in many hobby stores and online@@liberaitalia236

Beautiful Result! How well does using wood glue to mask the windows work?
KevQots...what can I say, you've made us wait quite a while for this video but it was definitely worth the wait! You're a master of detail, and 9V-KEV was absolutely a nice touch to this brilliant creation!! 👏 If I may mention one tiny inaccuracy; the flag on the starboard side of the fuselage is usually displayed backwards, so the crescent moon and stars are on the right of the flag. Nonetheless, I loved every minute of this video! I would love to see some of your behind the scene videos of how you managed to salvage the tail logo or the paint mishaps on the fuslage...🤣
Out of curiosity, how do you decide which model kit to use for each of your creations? This Revell kit is great, it seems much more challenging to fix than a Hasegawa or Zvezda kit.

arabesque2222, I thank you for your suggestion to give it a go with SQ's 748. Spray-painting logos and making decals were new challenges for me and I really did enjoy myself building the kit. And, good catch with the flag. Thanks for mentioning that. I didn't even think twice while making the decal, but you are absolutely right. I will keep that in my mind for future builds😜
Usually, I don't have a sort of my own gauge or criteria on how to decide which kit to use to be honest with you. It's solely based on availability and, of course, pricing. But if I had a choice, I'd always go with Revell as it always comes with great decals including cautions, instructions panels, etc. (which is not a huge deal anymore because I learnt how to make a decal from this build. hehe)
I have another B748 from Zvezda in stock back home, so (spoiler alert!!!) I am thinking about either QF in the new livery or UA in the new livery. Will see.

Both QF and UA sounds really interesting, we'll probably have to wait a few more months to see the final creation 😀 Besides your "What-if" series, would there be plans for a "what-if retro livery" series in the near future? ...🤩 e.g. 748 in KLM 1980s livery, or QF 1970s flying kangaroo livery.
I think the 747 looks good in any livery.

@@arabesque2222 Ha! 748 in the old flying kangaroo livery will definitely look stunning! I will try on that for sure in the future. In terms of retro, I was also thinking about BOAC, too.
I am currently out of the country for work and, with the current circumstance, I am not quite sure when I can return home to build those models, so it might take a bit longer to start working them, but stay tuned!!

It looks amazing, I really struggle to do long and thin decals do you have any tips for me please?
If you are having a struggle to make it straight, you can use a masking tape that goes along as guideline. Once you apply the decal, you can slide the decal and push/align it against the edge of the guideline and it will be straight!

Yes, I wish if they had ordered -8i. It would have looked so beautiful.

That's a hard question... I personally prefer to get the one from Zvezda if there is a choice, but
really each has pros and cons that the other one doesn't have. haha.
I wish more airlines like Singapore or Qantas would've ordered the 747-8.

Hi Kevin. Could You please explain in details how do you fix the paint damage on the left hand side of fuselage after removing of masking tape? By the way, the model is incredibly nice. Go a head my friend. I am waiting for new models and new videos.
Thanks for your comment. Luckily it was only the white paint that came off, so I mask-taped the darkblue/orange stripe, and sprayed white again.
