I was so delighted to find this interview with Carolyn Denham! Merchant & Mills is hands down my favorite pattern company. As time goes by I still love the clothing I've made from their patterns. It has helped me identify my own personal style and it is true that they are timeless.
I gained so much from this interview! I especially appreciated the advice for new sewers as I am one myself, and do have some sense of overwhelm. So now I am off to find a pattern for a bag! Thank you for these video podcasts!
What a wonderful interview, Deepika, thank you. I happened to be wearing my newly made MM Rugby Dress as I watched! Now I must buy the Trapeze Dress, after Carolyn's comments about it being one of her T&Ts. I'm always so inspired by the Merchant & Mills aesthetic, even when it's not quite for me (I find I'm rather small for some of their more voluminous designs).
Hi Marial, so glad you enjoyed this interview. I am not a fan of voluminous designs either but for some reason I want to sew all of the M&M patterns :) I love the simplicity of them. How fun that you were wearing the Rugby dress while watching.
Such an interesting and inspiring interview. I bought my first Merchant & Mills pattern at the Knitting and Stitching Show at Alexandra Palace about 5 or 6 years ago, it was The Trapeze and is probably one of the most comfortable dresses I’ve ever worn! I have gone on to purchase so many more patterns and fabric during the intervening years and am currently making the TN31 Parka for me and my husband as part of our 30th wedding anniversary treats. I’m fairly new to sewing but the patterns are so well constructed and the staff so very helpful that I don’t think I’d be scared to give anything of theirs a go and their tools are fabulous to work with too!
I love this! Not being scared is a good thing. Sewing is supposed to be enjoyable. When you finish your Parka, we would love to see a review of it on PatternReview.
Loved it. I am a member of Pattern review and also have a couple of Merchant & Mills patterns. This was very informative and just plain interesting to view. Good job; BOTH of you! I had no problem hearing you Deepika, or Ms Denham.
I really enjoyed this chat. Last Spring/Summer I made 4 pairs of M&M Eve trousers, in different fabrics. I used, cotton needlecord, Ramie, cotton twill, and a synthetic printed fabric, all different all good. I love the above ankle length, great with summer sandals or winter boots. I must now look at the dress patterns for this year. Thank you M&M and Pattern Review, Deepika and Carolyn.
This is wonderful. If you get around to it, we would love to see those reviews on PatternReview so others can enjoy it too. I love having Tried and true patterns as well.
Hi Megan, sorry about that. When I was playing it back, I was able to hear myself clearly. Perhaps it was zoom. This is great feedback. I will tweak some settings before I film the next segment. I wonder if it was using my camera microphone instead of my earphones. Thanks for watching.
@@micheleswiderski7080 Thanks for the feedback. I do have an external microphone which I think I will use next time I interview a guest. Question, when you are watching this, are you on your mobile device/computer? where is the sound coming from?

22:39 "good seamstresses do it properly and take time", very true, love it 💕💕

What a fun interview Deepika! Thank you - both of you for the inside story.

I am so glad. This is new to me so your comment is very encouraging. We had fun chatting.

It's a bit difficult to hear you, Deepika. I hope audio quality can be improved for next time since I value these podcasts, so much!

@@patternreview I agree, your guest's voice was easy and clear, but your voice sounded muffled
Yes, especially about a third of the way through Deepak’s voice is very muffled. Carolyn’s voice is lovely and clear.

@@patternreview Hi Deepika, I just watched this on my desktop computer and your voice was a bit muffled too. Wonderful interview though, thank you!
