Be sure to head over to the CHAT while this is in PREMIERE mode so we can all chat together!! Its a PARTY over there so don't be shy!!! 🎉
Hi Sarah, I’m so sorry to see the broken pieces, they were stunning. But the good news is that you’ll be able to replicate them because you document everything so well! I love your glaze combos and you’ve inspired me to make a garden sign, yours is beautiful!🤩 🙏🏻
Thanks so much Ana!! I love this community and all the inspiration that we give each other!🥰 I can't wait to see what your Garden sign looks like, I know it will be stunning!
Great kiln opening. Your combinations are absolutely stunning. Shame about your breakages. I would sit down and have a good cry. But you can always make more 🥹🥹🥹🥹😀
Oh! The ending. Devastated for you - what a shame. I think that's why I love your channel though..... you do things like I do, so I feel you are a kindred spirit! Your work is beautiful, and your glazes are inspirational. Thank you
Hi Sarah, beautiful stuff! Sometimes you can slightly rough up the inside of the neck with a stilt mark stone and the stopper stays better. Not all stoppers are made equal, and the ribs can be softer or stiffer. I find the stiff ones more prone to popping up. I also found that if the inside of the neck is tapered it is more likely for the stopper to do that. I love your sign! On the bright side, your little trip up didn't take the sign out! Maybe you'll need to consider doing what they did on @PotteryToThePeople and use the broken pieces to make a mosaic. You've helped me so much by showing your before pictures. Thank you!!! And congrats on another great kiln load!
Thank you sooo much Pat!! Yes, in hind sight I see that things could have gone way worse so I am super grateful that it was only a couple of piece. 😅 some people have suggested that I try kintsugi which i'll give a go, then if that doesn't work I have my box of doom with lots of broken/smashed pieces that I will make a nice mosaic! Love the suggestions to try with the stoppers...i will try them out and fingers crossed that they work...i so love the bigger gold pourers, and I have like 48 so I really need to figure it out fast cuz they aren't cheap...hahaha btw...i woke in the middle of the night and was watching YT on my TV and i watched your kiln opening! I'm going to pop over there and leave a comment...nice job!!
Your work is spectacular...we all felt your pain with losing some gorgeous pieces😢. On a positive note...I love that you show the glazed pieces before firing...it is so helpful to understand the movement of the glazes during firing. I look so forward to seeing your videos.
Oh Sarah!! I’m so sorry that happened dang it!! What a beautiful kiln load you had!! Love the glaze combos! Thanks so much for posting the combos so we can take screen shots that’s so helpful.
Thanks so much Michele! I'm really glad you like the before shots, as I think it's one thing to tell someone how a glaze was applied and a completely different thing to see it! Your support is always much appreciated! 🥰
Thanks so much Lisa!! what are the chances that the cam caught it...and well my grief and annoyance with myself...it's all part of studio life, right?! Sharing the good, bad and ugly..hahaha! 🤭🥰
Hi. I have been watching you for about 5 month now....I don't know what happened, but TH-cam stopped notifying me about new videos I follow - a long time ago. So I have to keep a video of yours up in my tabs just so I don't miss anything. I am a 71-year-old selling fine artist who inherited a butt-load of pottery equipment from a dear lady who went into assisted living. So, I'm living it up in my new life as - a potter!!!! And who best to teach me the beauty of glazing, but YOU! You are my guru. I have just made my first bellied mug on the wheel (I have to catch up fast). And of course, I HAD to try Archie's Base over Fairy Rose. Well, it was pretty, BUT, it wasn't juicy like yours. I used 2 coats of each over Little Loafers clay. It didn't run much. So what? more Archies? I am addicted to your videos, BTW! Hugs, cat
Hi Esme!! Thanks for feeling my pain 😭..everyones support is so meaningful to me! 🥰. Now on the bright side, I'm going to try out the Kintsugi technique..see if I can fix them🤞🏼...stay tuned! 😘
Hahaha! I'm so happy you enjoy my videos!! I had to share the security cam footage when I saw it...I totally cracked up and was like this is too good to not share! what are the chances...right?! hahaha 🥰
Aww Sarah, sorry for those pots that were wrecked…especially that nice big bowl! Argh. 😣 However I guess these things happen, right? You can always make more. Some beautiful glaze combo’s 😊 Thanks for keeping the clip of you tripping, it was actually pretty funny, and your bleeped out cursing, but I feel your pain for the pots you worked so hard on 🤗
HAHAHA...Yes when I saw the footage I knew I just had to add it into the video...hey keepin' it real in the studio!! I'm glad you have the same sense of humour as I do! 🤣 Thanks for the kind and encouraging words!! Cheers! 🥰
Oh My Goodness what a Great Video! Glad to see ya back!!!!! Loved the kiln God LOL.....Just got some Laguna 608 and was wondering what glazes to try . Thanks You got some great combos there!!!!! Thank you for sharing!!!!! Im right there with you on Aurora Green. The only way I use it is on a white clay with a zinc free clear on top. if you haven't pitched the Aurora green yet and still have some left just put it on a cookie or something don't ruin your beautiful pottery. Again Thanks!!!
Thanks so very much Tammy I'm so happy you enjoyed it!! I'm keeping the hunky kiln god and he'll appear from time to time in my videos...that's how I picture the KG's to look...like fierce viking warriors...hahaha 🤭 Im glad I'm not the only one with the AG 🤮 results! Cheers! 🥰
Hi Sarah! So nice to see you again, miss your lives, but ok it is late for me. I just watched your video over breakfast and you have some pretty amazing glaze combos! I love amaryllis and flex blossom and I love cactus now too. So sorry about What happened, but glad you are ok. Keep potting🩷😘🥰🩷
Thanks Gina!! I will probably do a live again soon. I just fired a bisque load and will be emptying the kiln later today. So lots of glazing in the near future...I enjoy doing LIVES too, it such a fun way to connect with you in an interactive way. I received some feedback from some viewers that they prefer the edited versions so I thought I'd try that route for a bit...but I will for sure do some lives as they are much easier to make as well!! 🥰
Bad Oops! But so glad it was your pots and not your bones that broke! Love your videos, Sarah! You always make it so much fun to see your glazing results! Here's a thought on firing your salad forks... make your own "shelf props"; except in a 1/2 version. So more like a u-shaped channel of clay (fired...like a cookie) to support the un-glazed stem portion, and then support the glazed ends with stilts? Or, perhaps add a loop or a hole at the end of the handle, so you could hang them to fire on a Nichrome rod suspended on tall shelf supports? 🤔 Cheers!!! And thanks so much for sharing!!!
Whoops, hit the return button a bit too soon. Thank you for your kind words about my videos too. Hearing from you and others is always an encouragement to do more. I appreciate you! 🥰
Hi Sarah, I love your glaze combinations and thank you for sharing so many ideas. Your garden sign is amazing, So sorry you broke two of your pieces. I know what that feels like. Take care!
Aww Thanks Kelly! Yes I guess it could have been much worse had I broken something..😅 I didn't even think of that 🤭...I'm still bummed but laugh that I my security cams actually caught impact! 🤣🥰
Hey Sarah yaaayyyyy I’ve missed u!!!! Love love love yr top sooo pretty!!! That garden sign sooo pretty I’m sorry it warped 😢. Spectrum glazes on their way to me yay!! Maybe u could fire the spoon ontop of the kiln prop somehow? Ohhhh the pink bowl glorious!!!! I like the abstract blue like on the oil bottle I vote leave it. Try twisting the topper in instead of just pushing might help. I’m so jealous of yr glazes running n melding without flux maybe I should keep turning Freddy up 🤔. That honey dew big bowl is gorgeous! We r on the same wave length we do it all the time n I’ve just made travel mugs too!! Omg I just snapped off a yarn bowl too! I’m using it to test my new Amaco phazes glazes so u will see it lol. Looove that first yarn bowl sooo pretty!! Are those cups really textured turq kimchi?? Looks more like power turq? Gorgeous. My fav was the big pink bowl easy! I’m stealing that combo lol. Love the first yarn bowl too. Love the lippy touch up lol. Oh nooooooo I got teary for you I’m sooooo sorry I’m just glad u didn’t hurt yourself!!! You can make them again right??? All my love love love Nat xxxxx
Love you girl!!! Great minds think alike, my Pink Sista's!🥰 Yes it IS textured turquoise and kimchi for sure, it really runs as you can see so if you try it be careful and raise it up on a cookie! I wonder what kimchi would look like with PT🤔 I may have to try that! I'm going to try twisting the topper and see if that works but i noticed that on the ones that aren't staying in, the ring gaskets sit equally apart, but on the other toppers there is a larger space from the top to the fist ring. I'm wondering if that's the issue. Anyhoo, I didn't get hurt and I'm grateful for that 😅 cuz yes it could have been a lot worse. I have made more yarn bowls tho they are wider and lower. I prefer the one that I had made in this video. Thanks for all your love and support and I plan on doing a live soon...keep us all posted on Trace's surgery...its coming up next week! I'll send healing vibes! 😘
I’m toggling between TH-cam and my phone to comment! Yeah I think I live amaryllis with flux blossom rather than anything else! All your pieces are Beautiful!
OMG a revelation. Last year I made tons of oil bottles and the spouts with the flip top in silver were great. I got some that were also silver that had the plastic cap on the spout and none of them would stay in the bottles no matter the size or shape of the opening. I couldn't find the flip lid spouts in any other color than silver but now that you are having the same trouble with the cork staying in the bottle, I know it's the product and not the bottle.
I’m really surprised that your arora green doesn’t turn out well,it is my favorite! I always use three layers at least and fire pretty high. They say it also looks good on top of white bid I still have to try that.
Aurora Green just doesn't like me. I bought it a few years ago as I saw someone use it an it was gor-geous! Every time i use it it looks like a sick runny nose. I'm totally envious when people get it to work. I haven't tossed it out...yet, but can't try it for a while, i ruined too many pieces lately trying. hahaha! Thanks for your suggestion tho!! xo
Alumina is definitely the answer for those big pieces. I'm wondering too though, if you put ridges in the back like tiles have, if that would also help with warping?
I’m so sorry you broke your beautiful pieces! My heart goes out to you. It happens to us all! I’m sure you will make many more gorgeous pieces to make up for it though! Lisa x
Haha! Thank you! It still hurt so much. Pottery pieces take so much nurturing and time so when things go sooo very wrong because of a silly mistake…it hurts even more! 😵💫🤭😂
Thank you Tonie 🥰 The only thing that got hurt was my joy...I was bummed out for a while and kick myself for making such a foolish decision to jump😤..but then remade the pieces and was happy again...i laughed when I found out that my security cameras caught the moment that it happened 😂
I was so excited to watch your video when i saw it pop up! Glad u got a break bc we need those but also so glad to hear from you again. Ugh that beautiful bowl cracked too!! I hate that for you! I hate it when stuff like that happens. I usually snap off a handle doing something dumb and get furious at myself lol. I loved watching your pieces come out, they were beautiful! I was hoping though that the butter dish on your website was going to be in that unload. It looks like the flux blossom and peppered plum mix but has some blue in it? I was curious what that was bc it is soo pretty!
Thank you sooo much Kelly!! That butter dish, believe it or not...is Black Stroke n coat one very heavy coat and Honey Flux x2 that's it! I was pretty surprised with the results and it really is beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice! xo
So sorry about your pices getting broken. I had a pice knocked off the counter by my cat. It's ok. The cat is still alive but not by much. 😂 . I've seen a few combos I am going to try. Thanks again.
I have the same issue with my oil stoppers. I’m thinking some are tapered (the rubber part) and others are not so if the neck of the bottle is tapered more it starts popping out…idk, still trying to figure it out! Loving all your bottles and combos…I think you should leave the “signature drip” on the one.
I appreciate your point of view..I’m leaning that way myself! I’m glad it’s not just me having issues with the toppers. I have since figured out that some of the pourers have a little space between the top ring and those seem to stay in while the ones I bought were the same diameter all the way to the top. I will look for the ones with that additional space..they seem to fit nicely!
Thanks Rebecca! I tried that...I wish that was the solution. It appears that the washer rings sit higher up then my other ones so they keep popping out😵💫 I appreciate your suggestion🥰
Darn it hurts when you don't listen to yourself. Aaaargh soooo frustrating, I know how that feels. And when you break something because of your own "not listening to self talk" makes one even more cranky. But.........unfortunately that's how we teach ourselves not to cut corners etc again. Besides the mishap everything looked incredible. The garden sign is fabulous. Being a gardener myself that is definitely something I could do as well. With your salad server could you make a bisque tube, with a hole large enough for spoon handle?? Could use cardboard tube from plastic wraps, foil etc as your form/mould. Anyhow happy potting. It's cold here too, in Canberra, Australia. It's 7°C at 23:13 Friday 21st June. Winter Solstice tomorrow. Ciao
Hi Evelyn! It took me a few days to get over it but laughed so hard when I saw that my security cam caught the moment! hahahah...had to share it with you all! Love the idea of the of using a cardboard tube as a mould! I think that would absolutely work! I filmed this video at the beginning of April so it was still cold but right now we are having a bit of a heat wave, 41°C with the humidity. so its really hot and sticky...it Summer Solstice for us today!
What a great name for that platter...frozen pond!!! LOVE THAT!! and love the idea of RHC over the Reactive Red...I' going to have to try that combo out!!! 🥰
Oh boy...I will have to make a new garden sign...haha...but for you...i will make a video now that I'm having better firing results with flat pieces. It will be in a little while as I'm backed up with my fall markets...but I will make a video! thanks Annilein!!
Have you seen a picture of the Spectrum floating glaze coming out called Bougainvillea? The ultimate pink and purple. In other news, GASP! I'm so sorry about your pieces.
Hey Sarah, I know that feeling when you trash something by accident. So gutting! I liked your car horn sound effect though. It made me laugh. I'm interested in your slow cool schedule. Do you mind me asking how slowly you dropped from the top temp to 1900F? I'm trying to work out the best slow cool for my kiln and I'm experimenting with different schedules.
Hello!! I'm still annoyed with myself! Uggh! I'm glad we have the same sense of humour...🤭 Watch this video, I show the exact firing schedule I use in the first 4-5 min: th-cam.com/video/0k9yHFUz2aA/w-d-xo.html hope this helps! thanks for watching!! Cheers! xo
I think the broken blue bowl could be beautiful with some gold Kintsugi. Just a thought. I know how you feel. I stupidly broke my fav piece that I have ever made, that’s why I’m researching Kintsugi.
You are in good company as a couple people have made that same suggestion and I think I'm going to give it a go..heck it can't hurt at this point 🤭 Thanks for feelin' my pain. When i saw that my security cam caught the moment I knew I just had to share it with you all! 🥰😘
I thought about trying that technique since I still have both bowls...hummm thank you for reminding me. I may just have to order a kit and try it out! 🥰
Hi Sarah, I feel so sorry for your broken pieces. You better learn how to jump properly. 😉This could also be me. I love the texture turquoise kimchi combination so much. I will try it by myself soon. Can’t believe you struggle with aurora green. It’s one of my favorite glazes. I will send you pictures on instagram to show you how it looks. Have a wonderful day. Yours Suza
Girl I like your kiln reveals but when you say the names of the colors, please add the maker. Its really hard to compare or find the equivalent when different brands have the same color names. Thanks.
Thanks for the feedback! I try but at times I forget..check the description as I’m pretty good adding glazes and the brand info cuz I know I don’t always say it cuz I’m so excited... 🙃Hope that helps!
Hi Pam, yes the chat shuts down rather abruptly when the video finishes the premiere! Thank you so much for chatting with me and being a part of my community!! Xo
Very pretty pieces, I love them, but, OMG, stop flipping everything around, hold still, your hands are all over the place... We are trying to see your pieces!!! Maybe one less cup of coffee before you film?

Alumina is definitely the answer for those big pieces. I'm wondering too though, if you put ridges in the back like tiles have, if that would also help with warping?
That's a great idea! I could try that too! It would definitely reduce the surface tension in the kiln. I just may try that! Thanks!!
😢 😮dang. I am so impressed that you got that on video though!😮
Right!! What are the chances!! Hahaha
I love it!!! Beautiful!! 😍
Thank you! 😊
nice kiln unload as always .I hope you didn't get injured tho . ❤
Thank you Tonie 🥰 The only thing that got hurt was my joy...I was bummed out for a while and kick myself for making such a foolish decision to jump😤..but then remade the pieces and was happy again...i laughed when I found out that my security cameras caught the moment that it happened 😂
@@SarahWaltonPotteryjust be careful next time and invest in a shelf unit or sthing
@@toniesolomon i bought a table! Not going to be putting stuff on my stairs anymore…lesson learned🤭🥰
Ok I didn’t wait till the end I’m so sorry about that beautiful pot!
Thanks Lisa! And the big bowl too! 😭 🤪
I was pretty surprised with the results and it really is beautiful, the pictures don't do it justice! xo
Ahh I can't believe that's what did that! You're amazing and so creative! So beautiful!!
So sorry about your pices getting broken. I had a pice knocked off the counter by my cat. It's ok. The cat is still alive but not by much. 😂 . I've seen a few combos I am going to try.
Thanks again.
Haha...they do have 9 lives! hahahah.🥰
@@SarahWaltonPottery oh good to know! I have a few types so I’ll look and see if that’s the case with mine too, thanks 😊
Try taking the black cap off of the gold pour spout when you put it in the bottle there might be too much pressure causing it to start popping up.
@@SarahWaltonPotteryI'm glad my idea may work basically a bisque clay coil large enough to accommodate
As far as the frozen pond platter goes I would carry through the RHC over the pink to the edge . You could also add pearl white over the pink….
What a great name for that platter...frozen pond!!! LOVE THAT!! and love the idea of RHC over the Reactive Red...I' going to have to try that combo out!!! 🥰
Adorei você!!❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!! ☺️
❤pleeeease do a video how you glazed the garden sign 🙏
Oh boy...I will have to make a new garden sign...haha...but for you...i will make a video now that I'm having better firing results with flat pieces. It will be in a little while as I'm backed up with my fall markets...but I will make a video! thanks Annilein!!
@@SarahWaltonPottery 😍That is something I really look forward to🙏🏻 take your time, I can wait😘
Have you seen a picture of the Spectrum floating glaze coming out called Bougainvillea? The ultimate pink and purple. In other news, GASP! I'm so sorry about your pieces.
I did see a sampling of the new floating glazes and there are a few I really want…including the bougainvillea!! Soooo gorgeous…so my style!
Waiting patiently
You da best!!
Cheers! xo
@SarahWaltonPottery thanks Sarah
so sorry you broke your yarn bowl...it was beautiful.
Thank you!! 😘🥰
Is the oil stopper popping out because the tip is covered, creating air pressure pushing the stopper out possibly?
Ohh! Maybe! I’m going to have to investigate that! Thanks for the suggestion!
No problem, let me know what you find out!
💔💔for the ending. Make 10 more and remember that we all do the same s**t all the time. Big hug, cat
Yay!
I'm sorry I missed the premiere. Can we make tee shirts that say The Glazing is Amazing?
I absolutely can!! Hahah
hey don't be mad at the yarn bowl you can make it kintsugi . it's fine you be alright . the evil went away . it's ok
Yours Suza
I got the pics! Thank!! Your pieces look gorge!! I will try AG again...soon xo
I'm over in the chat!!
Oh no!! 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
Jumping for outside! 😞😞😞😞
Hahaha...right?! 😭😭😭
Time to try kintsugi?
Yes!! I think i will try it out! it can't hurt since the damage is done. 🤭😘
Hello pieces 😅. I am pieces too
Pieces power!! woot-woot! 🥰
Oh I've lost the chat but 😢😢😢😢😢
Hi Pam, yes the chat shuts down rather abruptly when the video finishes the premiere! Thank you so much for chatting with me and being a part of my community!! Xo
It's always the best stuff, sorry
I know, right?! Uggh 😵💫🥰
Very pretty pieces, I love them, but, OMG, stop flipping everything around, hold still, your hands are all over the place... We are trying to see your pieces!!! Maybe one less cup of coffee before you film?
Thanks for the tip
