SEDONA MOUNTAIN BIKING- Absolutely BEAUTIFUL Arizona scenery distracted us from some bike troubles!

  • We recently headed out west to Sedona, Arizona to do some hiking, and we decided that we had better take our mountain bikes too! I mean, who doesn't take their mountain bikes when visiting Sedona?! I've only had my mountain bike for a month, so I was a bit intimidated at first, but once we hit the trails, I had SO much fun! I can't wait to go back!
Our first ride, we hit up Slim Shady and Templeton...but then Craig, my husband, got a pretty big gash in his tire that wouldn't seal back up. We took it to Bike and Bean, a nearby bike shop, and he ended up getting new tires.
The next day, we had much better luck riding on the West Side of Sedona. Here is the loop we road counter clockwise from the Aerie trailhead:
    Cockscomb
    Dawa
    Canyon of Fools
    Mescal
    Aerie

❤Sedona! The riding is amazing. You’re right, early starts to get a parking spot then it’s all luck finding spots later in the day. The Slim Shady trail is fun!

I did that area in 1980 in the fall late October early November. Even then it did get hot, so I always started the day early and took a break in the heat of the day when I could do so. Had three water bottles and the day I arrived at Capitol Reef I had used up the last of my water a few miles before the campground. No mountain bikes around then so my riding was largely on the highway. Jerome was a good spot to pass through. A long zig zagging climb. Be prepared for changeable weather ended up spending two extra days at Grand Canyon due to snow. Beautiful countryside. Enjoy the exploring.😊

I would love to do an extended bike trip in the southwest. It seems like the only time it wouldn’t be too hot would be winter or early spring. I love that area.

i worked at the grand canyon, and i rode all the way to williams and back. it was in the winter but a warm few days. i want to ride the arizona trail from grand canyon to flagstaff. that would be an awesome bike packing adventure.

Nice riding! I always carry a tube as a backup to the CO2 incase of a tire slash :)

I watched your trip from Canada to Mexico this morning and now this one. Your commentry is better on this one as the background music is quiter so making it easier to hear the commentary😊

Yeah!! My Pacific Coast one was the first video I made, so definitely trying to get better! Thanks for your comment! It’s always hard getting the audio levels right. It will sound ok on your computer/headphones, but then after it’s uploaded it’s different. I’ve definitely learned to keep the music quieter than I think. Haha!!
