Jacob Byers pearl didn't manage to find any solutions. i solved it by getting a used iPhone 5. seamless connection on IOS

I’m not sure if it’s just an iOS solution. I’m running iOS 11.2 and I’m having the same connection issue. I’m thinking it will probably work ok on iOS 8, 9 or 10 only which is why it fired up ok on your iPhone 5.

By luck, just managed to get good connection using Galaxy grand 2, I think the key is having 5Ghz Bluetooth
