I’ve been to Costco in Portland Oregon. It is set up the same as this. Just a big warehouse with products on pallets like in a warehouse logistics centre.
It is ideal for people who live out of town and only come in once a month to stock up on groceries and provisions. They can fill up their pickup/ute and haul it off home.
In New Zealand 🇳🇿 we’ve had bulk buy places like Uncle Bills, Cracker Jack and Reduced to clear, even the Warehouse (to a degree) for a while now, but nothing really like Costco. Moore Wilson’s in Wellington was close I think, just not as large in the variety.

Not been myself here in the UK , the items seem very reasonably priced. You were very restrained in the bakery area Jos not sure I would have been. 😃
I was quite surprised at how a lot of the items were pretty good value. The main thing for me would be where to store such large bulk items in my flat instead of the actual cost of them. I will be doing more costco nz videos but focusing on different parts as this video was really all about the food. The smell of the bakery was so good. I really don't know how I walked away from that dulce de leche brownie - I'm still thinking about it. 😋
How about clothing? Do they have them there? Here in the US, Costco has quality & sometimes known brand name clothings that goes on sale regularly selling for less than $10 US. I know clothes in NZ are very expensive, I hardly shopped there for clothes when I lived there for a few years awhile back.
Yep I’ll be uploading a separate Costco video focusing on non-food things as I wanted to focus on just food for this video. I basically buy all my clothing from Europe instead of NZ as it’s often cheaper/better quality for the cost in the UK compared to NZ.
Wow... Costco NZ has a wonderful shellfish selection. One cool thing about Costco is they will always have a few local items like vegemite and Manuka honey in your case. That's pretty much the layout of Costco. Years ago, Costco used to sell coffins! So in the store, you'd see those cutouts of coffins literally on your way out(of the store) - it really was one-stop shop. 😂😂😂 Thanks for taking us along.

@@josatkin Sounds fair. 😊 I find it interesting to see food shops abroad. I don’t know how much groceries are in NZ but in AU, Costco prices aren’t much cheaper than regular supermarkets. I was quite tempted by the honey though. If I had a big family or catered, I imagine it would be a great place to shop but not so much for me. 😊
@@jessbooth5495 yes I agree. I thinks it’s catered more to family needs and bulk buys for families. My friend went a few days ago and purchased packs of lobsters 🦞 for $50 and also a variety of plants 🌱🪴 I’d be interested in getting large plants for my place but I think things go pretty quick. Next time if I see things that I like I’ll get them.
There's a few in Australia. I'm a Kiwi living in Perth, there's 2 here in Perth. I've been to Costco quite a few times, I'm familiar with it now that I just go for what I need and get out before I spend too much money haha. Though still to try the pizza and hot dogs.
That’s good to know. When I’m next over in Oz I’ll go check it out. I’ll be doing a follow up video on Auckland Costco that covers overs things they offer apart from the food options as they had some pretty cool (yet random stuff). When it first opened they also sold coffins ⚰️ which I wasn’t quite expecting to see 🤷♀️🤔

@@josatkin hello from Bournemouth!! Nice surprise reply. Bournemouth is very wet and windy but the beach is lovely as always. Hengistbury Head along the road from me was so windy the car door wouldn't open!! Poole harbour looks grey instead of the usual blue. Apart from the weather the whole bay is great as always. Regards.
