Yuffie is slowly growing on me in OG7 she wasn't my favorite (stole my materia its hard for a man to get over someone stealing their bawls ... almost Cait Shit level betrayal) she did have her moments in Dirge of Cerberus and Intergrade but after this song ❤ truly a kid trying to have fun on her journey to save her hometown as she puts up with her unlikely band of misfits

Aerith was gone and then yuffie stole all my materia and left me with a busted party of barret, cid, red and vincent because i never used cait sith in the og. But i never disliked yuffie. the og just made her annoying. i like her way better in the remake and rebirth.
Back then when I first played FF7, due to Yuffie being optional, I completely skipped Wutai without knowing so she never stole my materia. I didn't find out until later when a friend of mine also played FF7 and was ranting about how much he hated Yuffie for stealing his materia, I was like, "What the hell are you talking about?"

In case any of you is wondering: The second part of the song (the one that starts with "I'll search high and low") she sings only if Cloud compliments her on the song, which hypes her up and she starts singing the second part. The part she sings with a different tone is if Cloud tells her to stop singing, which is when she starts the whole song back again and tries even harder just to piss Cloud off.

Yeah, I came across this myself trying to improve the relationship status (one where you give a response) with Yuffie and it gave me a genuine chuckle. I was like "Is she singing this to her own them music?" This was one of the better highlights of the Gongaga region, which was a massive pain to navigate.
I find it so curious how pretty much all the funny little songs like this in the game (and in Remake) have so much more effort put into the english dub version. The lyrics of the original Japanese version are basically just the equivalent of: "Bo bo bo - bo bo - bo bo bo bo bored" like twice with just different words that both mean "bored" or "boring" and then a verse of "Ma ma ma - ma ma - ma ma ma materia"
Pretty sure things like this are up to the localization team for each language. It is how we also have things like the puns and misunderstandings being so good with Beck's guys.

For example if a character says "You were about this tall back then" in japanese, the english localization instead says "You were about knee-height to a tonberry" I just find it curious how the original dub is seemingly so....lazy with the songs. The turtle paradise songs and the Stamp song are much simpler in japanese as well. The Stamp song only has one verse which repeats, while the english dub has two different verses.
same is true of the old working designs games. lunar 1 and 2 were a huge hit in the west vs japan because the writing was so much better in the english translation than in the original. same thing for ff6, it's considered one of the weaker final fantasy games in japan, because kefka was a bland villain there. here the translation made him into a truely interesting character, just by small changes in word choice. he didn't have anything like lines like 'son of a submariner' or 'wait, what do i look like, a waiter?' or 'you sound like chapters out of a self-help book!', those were all ted woolsey's additions.

Yuffie was given so much personality in this game I am just oh so thankful for the care that went into her character.
They made her very likeable in the remake. Both her and Cait Sith got a big upgrade from the original PS1 versions.
