    Battery CAN be replaced in around 20 mins by dropping the motor (Orbea mechanics changed mine real quick from 750 to 625) - 20.8KG, Full 29er, 63.5 Head Angle, 170mm Fork, 160mm Rear, Bosch Race Motor. We can have LIGHT and FULL POWER!!

      I can't decide between a rise and a wild 🤔 was worried the wild would feel too disconnected and boring on more traditional trail riding, but watching this video makes me think maybe the bike is just as agile and fun and the main difference would be the rise has more gentle less obvious assistance and the wild blasts off

      They're great! I ride mostly bike parks, but wanted to get out more in the colder months. There's a few new jump lines near me, and I'd get maybe 3-4 runs in before getting tired with my regular bike. The ebike I can get in 10 in the same time.
      Plus I'm riding longer and going a lot more frequently, I'm actually getting in better shape than I would had I not gotten one.
      BTW if/when you get one, don't settle for anything less than a Bosch battery. So much fun, good luck ✌️

    I have a 2021 aluminium H25 FS Wild and it's really heavy. It's been extremely reliable, and I've done 3,000 off road miles. The 625 Whr battery is sufficient, and the Gen 4 CX is plenty powerful. As I weigh 98KG, taking 4 KG off the weight is irrelevant. I ride with 2KG of water, another 1KG of tools and spares. I was a bit concerned that I'd not had to change any suspension bushes, service the forks or rear shock in that mileage. So, I asked my LBS to give it a once over before the warranty runs out in January 2023. No faults found. I have replaced cassettes, chains, brake pads, discs and both the front and rear wheels as the bike came with unsealed Shimano hubs. I now have Hope Fortus rims with Pro 4 hubs, which have been great so far. If I was to buy a new bike, I'd definitely want the fixed in-built battery as I rarely remove mine. I don't have a problem with the Bosch Purion display as it's an old familiar friend. My first Cube ebike had one and couldn't fault it then in 2017.

    Wow ......... great review and a bike that is well sorted out but ......... the video quality is stunning . In a sea of poor quality POV MTB TH-cam vlogs RR EMTB videos are always such a joy to watch. The bike reviewing gets better , informative and well thought out content that makes sense to us the viewer.
    I recently made my choice of bike to purchase based on some of your previous bike reviews , I spent a lot of money on a bike I had never ridden only looked at on a shop floor. My first ride out on it confirmed exactly everything you had explained in your review on it previously.
    The Spanish really are turning some great bikes out right now.

  • @ThomasTiotto
    @ThomasTiotto ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I can't wait to see how light they could make the next-gen Rise! Current-gen is just over 16 kg but that's using a full-weight Shimano motor; new frame and something like a TQ motor could maybe bring it down close to 14 kg? That would be a dream.

    Awesome video Rob! I’ve caught a few of your vids recently and they are all really good. Re the bike- Lately I’ve been turned off of steep seat angles for any sort of pedaling while standing. Crazy technical climbs, for instance. The steeper angle has your center of mass quite high up, and I find the bike will get hung up much more easily on obstacles. With the “e”, I don’t mind more neutral 75-76 degree seat angles on even the steepest access roads (25% grades). Are you quite tall? I’m 174cm, so riding size medium bikes.

    • @RobRidesEMTB
      @RobRidesEMTB  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Hey Jeff - great to hear from you! Been watching your content for a long time! Yes, I'm 6"3 - so prefer steeper seat angles, so more needed perhaps compared to a medium frame, as these long droppers on bikes with slack seat tube almost put me over the back wheel!

    • @zorqis
      @zorqis ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@RobRidesEMTB while not even approaching 1% of Jeff's riding style, but at 181 cm I feel the same as you. I used to prefer mullets or 27.5 partly for that reason of not sitting on the back wheels, until the steeper seat angle 29'ers appeared. Those feel much better when pedaling while sitting. But it's also true the center of mass moved up as well, so there is some compromise, riding out of seat earlier and more than before :).

      @@RobRidesEMTB hi Rob, I am also 6ft 3 but 103kg (working on lowering that but natyrally big so can only hope to get to 98kg lowest). I've noticed despite my better skill than some friends, I just cant corner like they do, it's physics, but on burly straighter sections I gain back time lost in corners. I think you are 20kh or so lighter than me so you'll corner much better. I ride mostly technical enduro trails, natural forest types and wondering how, the bike handles on the limit (where traction is being lost) and changing direction. I know there's many variables: terrain, skill, tyres, tyre pressure, suspension tune, conditions but would love to hear more about slow speed handling on steep and twisties and railing all sorts of corners, flat, bermed, negative camber

    @aleszverca ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Nice bike 👍 but crazy light is a bit of an overstatement I think...only the 12K€ dentist race kashima 625wh ebike model falls into that category.
    Go down to a more reasonably priced bike...add 0,2kg for the normal motor, add 0,2kg for a burlier rear tire(exo+ on the rear is not really ebike territory if u ride seriously), 0,1kg for the not golden suspension, add 0,8kg for the 750Wh battery(which most will buy-only a small percentage of ebikers races) and finally no bike is complete without pedals so add 0,4kg(don't know why would someone state a bike weight without pedals...).
    Do the math and u end up with approximately 22,6kg and I didn't even venture into the heavier drivetrain/brake components specs....so in my opinion this is a pretty normal weight for a carbon ebike...would actually expect it to be less with the non removable battery.
    Also I wish more reviews/reviews would focus on the people's bikes and not the dentist bikes...but I guess Brands throw out their best and probably also point in the direction the releases/reviews should point...

    🙋‍♂Question: You mentioned you wished there was an XXL size... May I ask how tall you are? I'm 6.2ft, and since I appreciate maneuverability/agility over stability/velocity, I'm more inclined to go for the L size. What are your thoughts? I've seen other videos where they say this Orbea Wild could feel bigger when riding due to the great distance between the two axles. Thank you!

    Beauitiful video! You are a master in creating this kind of content. Really! One question: What size were you testing in the video? XL? I am having problems to decide what size I should choose. I am about your body size, riding an XL Turbo Levo from 2020 right now, and comparing the Geo I would say I should go with the XL. An S5 TL fits also well for me. You mentioned the Wild is "compact" in its dimensions. And therefore I would assume that L would be too small as I prefer the big boys. (S5 and XL for Turbo Levo) instead of L and S4. Thanks in advance for a short info on that!!

    Are there any plans to take the 20mph speed cap off and let the motors hit their natural ~27mph for places like the us where it is allowed? Are there any 3rd party companies modifying these bikes to allow higher speeds? I really like the new generation orbea bikes and their design approach in general but it is impossible to justify a 7k bike purchase for something that is strictly trail use. Going above 20mph isn't just for commuting or racing on flats its a pretty essential piece in the safety toolkit of anyone riding bikes on pavement. Avoiding cars, biking through dangerous areas, riding fast and saving your energy for navigation and handling over pedaling... it all requires a bike with a higher cap. Even 25mph limit might be ok but the motors can't just tap out at 20. I'm hoping ebike manufactures will consider making the change. In places where faster riding is allowed, a higher max speed is the difference between a leisure/sport bike and a genuine transportation machine.

    Good content as always but I would Never get an ebike with a non removable battery . Don’t care how much weight it saves.

    Hey Rob, any thoughts on how the new Wild rides compared to the Gen 3 Turbo Levo? I've had an S-Works Turbo Levo for a year and am intrigued by the lower weight and full-29er aspect of the Wild. Any comments will me decide if I should swap my TL for the Wild, and would be much appreciated. Thanks much. 🙂

      you should, for sure. It will transform you from a mediocre, moving obstacle on the trail, into top 10 ews/dh/whatever rider. The last year model bike was what held you down. 🙄🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

    Deal breaker: non removable battery. I keep and charge my Rail 5 battery indoors where temperature is in the best range. Store my bikes in a high secutity shed with no power. Remove the battery whilst stored also makes theft less desirable. Also a price of 11k, sorry no deal here! Especially in these hard times.

    I'm trying to decide between this 2023 Orbea Wild, the Pole Voima, and the Cannondale Moterra Neo (probably the Moterra Neo Carbon LT 2 or the Moterra Neo Carbon 1). I have a Pivot Switchblade already, and I'm looking for a bike that can handle the uphills and daily riding well, while also giving me extra travel (160+) for the bike park. I'm pretty set on a Bosch motor, but would consider a Brose. I definitely want to keep it under $10,000 USD. What you do you think? I'm hoping for a response from Rob, but welcome all comments. Thanks!

    Argh! I can't test ride these (ain't no place to do that--not available), and for me, that's the best option on deciding which model to purchase next year (which starts TOMORROW!). I have ridden in places like Moab, UT, Sedona, AZ, Fruita, CO, and Park City, UT, so I am a fairly decent rider. I live on the peninsula of the San Franciso Bay Area, CA, so there's a ton of good riding out here. I don't need 170mm/160mm for the type of riding I do. My current 2014 Santa Cruz 5010 has 140 in the front and probably 130 in the rear. That's plenty. I'm also torn about Bosch vs Shimano motors. And torque and power. I just don't know enough about the technology and how it translates to my riding needs. Let me put it this way so I can get some input from y'all: I hate climbing. Always have, always will. I LIVE for the downhill, and have done some fairly gnarly stuff (including Northstar and Whistler downhill parks). I don't do crazy jumps (maybe a table top here and there) but love drops and just going FAST. Love rock gardens. I think you get the idea. The max I'd like to be out on the bike might be 3 hours of actual pedaling. I need help climbing. That's the main reason I'd consider buying an ebike. I can keep up with my friends if I had a little bit of help. They all love to climb for miles and miles at a stretch, and for me to continue riding with them, I need support climbing. I can easily stick with the group on the downhill and am often one of the fastest and most nimble in that arena (they call me Speedy). Just need help on the up. Hope that helps. Suggestions are very welcome and keep in mind that $ is not a problem.

    hello and thank you for your video, could you tell me the model presented in your video because there are many models of Orbea Wild (h10-h20-h30-m10-m20 etc) I am looking for a model of 21kg or 22kg with minimum 500wh and between 70nm and 85nm thank you for your feedback in advance!!

    I have a 2021 Turbo Levo and was considering getting the 2022 version. I just can’t get over the mullet set up though. I like my full 29er Levo. In terms of power and handling, how would you say this bike and it’s motor compares to the turbo levos power…..specifically the motor performance. Thanks so much for making these videos. Great content!

    • @MrAndrew2509
      @MrAndrew2509 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your Levo has had that remote and display for years, power wise your Levo is still hard to beat. turnaround for warranty is awesome with Specialized, the same day regardless of your problem if you use Berkshire turbo. the guys there have your bike turned around while you wait. your motor is quiet when bombing downhill the Bosh motor rattles like a B@$tard. I hope this helps.

    Great review. I'm in the market to move on from my Trek Rail, and this bike looks pretty sweet. I'm a bit confused about the comparison to a "trail bike" though. When I'm at the top of a trail I want my bike to perform with the speed and poise of a long travel gravity oriented enduro bike, rather than a shorter travel all-around trail bike. Do the trail bike comments mean that it is not a full on descender? Or just that it is more nimble than most of the other full power emtb's that are heavier and some of which have a sort of "monster truck" mentality on the descents?

    • @RobRidesEMTB
      @RobRidesEMTB  ปีที่แล้ว

      More nimble, less monster truck in feel, but still fully capable!

    Most races / E-EWS I've seen people ride require 2 batteries and a swap at the half way point. What if the battery becomes damaged? Am I able to take the bike on a plane? Makes charging the thing more difficult too
    Seems ludicrous to not have a removable battery.
    Any other reasoned I've missed?

    • @RobRidesEMTB
      @RobRidesEMTB  ปีที่แล้ว

      The mechanics can change them in about 20 minutes (they swapped a 625 into mine super quick!). The motor requires dropping, but they put it in a stand and did it in no time. So races wont be an issue.
