This is without doubt one of the best EMTB bike reviews that I have seen, superb thoughtful content and balance, great job with the video production also….
I was particularly interested in this particular video because I bought the Orbea Wild H20 two months ago after reading watching rave videos on TH-cam, the last bike I bought after TH-cam endorsement was the entry model Specialized Turbo Levo which I loved (2019) - got stolen! My concern is that the Ebike brands are soliciting paid reviews of their top, most expensive models from the popular TH-cam channels, tellingly these paid reviews all come out at the same time, literally. There is a big problem with this platform - the reviews profusely embellish the super expensive bikes (some of which may be true of course), however, ordinary joe like me are much more likely to buy the entry level bikes in the hope that they ride very similar to the top models. EMTB - ordinary joe/jane - middle aged with kids, short on time, relatively new to or returned to biking, investing oversized sum to feed his/her hobby. None of the top earning channels review the entry level bikes, nor do they actually say anything negative because of the conflict of interest. Hence, it is not clear, who is this bike for? The beginner, or the pro downhill enduro ace? We hear far too many numbers - so many millimetres or angles this and that (chain stay, BB, reach etc.) and not enough about how they ride and whether these bikes are value for money? Hence, the TH-cam channels are complicit in letting the industry get away with hastily thrown together lower end bikes that are seriously flawed, and still demand thousands of dollars/pounds/euros! My view after 2 month ownership is a degree of disappointment. The H20 is a monster truck, way too heavy, I did not expect that given that the top product is 20.8Kg! This is a major problem for intermediate/ early biker. The sheer weight detracts from being able to jump, turn, develop skill, and the poor fork/suspension platform can only described as dull and lacklustre. The internal battery and the ridiculous complicated headset with internal cables is just nuts. Importantly, something you did not point out - this is a front heavy bike, much more noticeable in my size small bike with big 750 battery taking up the whole length of the down tube. It is difficult to convince this bike to jump (more speed, more hop) and then control the tendency of front end dipping. Why oh why do I have to spend several thousand of hard earned cash to bring it up to speed? Should I really even try to bring the weight down - not possible. The result is that 2 months down the line, I am desperately trying to sell the bike and buy a Specialized - the market, as it is, I can't even get half price for a 2 month old bike. I do not believe the Orbea Wild 2023 Alloy models are value for money - period. It turns out, all the R&D went in to developing the carbon race winning models. There is a unhealthy collusion between industry and channels/social platforms that promote these bikes - it makes it impossible to get an honest view of products that are more expensive than the cars we drive.

Great review! I've just put in an order with my LBS for a WILD LTD model. But it won't be shipped until January 2024. I guess there's tons of demand for them. Really excited to have it ready for next season at least. I have an Orbea Rise to keep me entertained until then!

I'm looking at the Wild H30 and the Specialized Levo Alloy Comp, the Wild takes the edge on the budget with current sales, with keeping $1,200 in my pocket. I lack knowledge when it comes to components, and one thing that is frustrating watching/reading reviews, is that they are all based on the higher spec'd models, not the lower end entry level or one tier up models, so it's hard to put the review into perspective. Having just watched your video from today "Do MTB Components Matter?" has me questioning, what, if anything I should consider changing on the bike. I plan to ride it stock for the first bit and see how it handles. I suspect generally I may want to upgrade the brakes, but again I'll have to see how the Shimano MT410's perform. Another consideration is using what I'd save by buying the Wild over the Levo would be to upgrade the fork to something that is better than what both bikes come with. This will be my first eMTB. I'm a heavier rider (250lbs), and generally a Novice/Intermediate skill level. I enjoy the blues pretty much at any trailhead and venturing into the blacks, though that is not without talking some walk-arounds depending on the features. I do enjoy keeping two wheels on the ground, but I have confidence on small to medium drops, hitting some small tables, and avoid gaps and doubles like the plague. In the back of my head I question whether the Wild might have me overbiked, but perhaps it may also be the perfect bike. My rides vary from anything with low elevation XC style trails to downhill parks offering a solid mix of smooth flow trials and technical terrain. Based on your review, this could be a well rounded bike for me. The 625wh battery may cause some range anxiety, but I've read that Bosch is releasing a 250Wh range extender which would be useful on some of those longer rides. Really enjoyed the review format. Nice mix of you giving a face to face commentary and your riding footage.

However, could you comment on how this compares to your Rocky Mountain Altitude experience specifically in terms of traction when climbing and then downhill experiences.

Great review - seems like one of the best full power e-bikes on the market right now. Debating between this and the Fezzari Timp Peak - the value is there and component spec is top notch but seems like the bosch system is the best right now in comparison to the Shimano. Would love to see you do a review on the Timp Peak if you get the opportunity.

@@BikersEdgeKaysville Yeah this is an interesting one because Orbea advertised this model as 46 pounds at launch which would make it one of the lightest full fat enduro ebikes on the market. It seems like some of your comments around agility and great handling could be attributable to lower weight.
@@asavage3654I just weighed mine on my ultra-accurate $14 amazon scale so take this with a grain of salt. With pedals and a bottle cage the bike comes in at 49lb.

No I haven’t ridden the alloy version. That said I did a carbon va aluminum video on out main channel a while back. I’m the big picture there’s not a huge difference. If it’s my money, I’m buying the H10. Hope that helps.

I really want the M-Team, but the price is high when you compare it with the likes of the new Canyon Strive:ON.
@@th3w4nted I have the H10 and a friend got the M10. Both are amazing bikes. My bike, stock is 56 lbs. his with carbon wheels and a few other light components is 48 lbs.

I’d refer you to the orbea size chart and or a test ride. Size advice over the internet is a bit of a crapshoot. Would hate to get you on the wrong size bike.

I have not. In my experience there’s usually not a huge difference between carbon and alloy frames. Minor differences, yes, but in the big picture they’re usually very close.
I’d opt for the 750 battery I think. If the race motor was an upgrade option on some of the cheaper models, I’d take it. But I don’t think I’d be buying an M-LTD model myself.

Hi , I want to consult with you about the size of this amazing bike, im about to order the 2024 model and my hight is 1.80 m. Im trying to figure out if I need to take the medium or large size, now im riding the 2022 wild fs on large size and I feel really good with that, but I saw that in the new geometry (2023) the reach, wheel base, stack and probably everything is larger even on the medium size comparing to the 2022 large size except the top tube length. thats why im hesitating maybe the new large size will be to big for me. Appriciate any help, Thank you, Yuval
I refrain from giving any specific size advice over the internet. It’s a crapshoot without seeing you on the bike. That said, according to Orbeas size chart, you can fit on both. Keep in mind the bike is supposed to have a longer reach, wheelbase, and taller stack. That’s by design. It wouldn’t make any sense to try to match those numbers to your old bike, as they are two completely different bikes. You can watch the “What size MTB should I buy” video on our main channel - bikers edge - if you want to see the pros and cons of sizing up vs sizing down.

Originally I thought they were similar. After more miles I think the Wild rides bigger and burlier than the heckler. Doesn’t give up much on the climbs either.
@BikersEdgeKaysville longer reach and slacker head angle is what I heard, generally good but penalty on tight trails. Motor is same. Wonder if I would notice that big of a difference. These things depreciate like appliances
More stable, more balanced front to back both uphill and downhill, stiffer frame with a more responsive feel, better suspension kinematics, bigger battery. It’s improved in pretty much every way.

I have not. In my experience there’s usually not a huge difference between carbon and alloy frames. Minor differences, yes, but in the big picture they’re usually very close.
How does it compare to the Transition Repeater?
Were you to own this bike, would you go with the Race motor or the regular one? Also, the 750 battery would give you another 4-5 miles of range?
I’d opt for the 750 battery I think. If the race motor was an upgrade option on some of the cheaper models, I’d take it. But I don’t think I’d be buying an M-LTD model myself.

Hi , I want to consult with you about the size of this amazing bike, im about to order the 2024 model and my hight is 1.80 m.
Im trying to figure out if I need to take the medium or large size, now im riding the 2022 wild fs on large size and I feel really good with that, but I saw that in the new geometry (2023) the reach, wheel base, stack and probably everything is larger even on the medium size comparing to the 2022 large size except the top tube length.
thats why im hesitating maybe the new large size will be to big for me.

I refrain from giving any specific size advice over the internet. It’s a crapshoot without seeing you on the bike. That said, according to Orbeas size chart, you can fit on both. Keep in mind the bike is supposed to have a longer reach, wheelbase, and taller stack. That’s by design. It wouldn’t make any sense to try to match those numbers to your old bike, as they are two completely different bikes. You can watch the “What size MTB should I buy” video on our main channel - bikers edge - if you want to see the pros and cons of sizing up vs sizing down.
Thanks a lot for youe honest answer, I will take a look on the video you suggest, you say that im not supposed to try "matching those numbers" to my old bikes it sounds for me like i should stay with the large size because if I will take the medium I will stay with the 2022 large reach and stack and I will get a shorter top tube .

Comparison between the Heckler?
Originally I thought they were similar. After more miles I think the Wild rides bigger and burlier than the heckler. Doesn’t give up much on the climbs either.

It’s a huge improvement over the old version. It’s up to date with current geo standards now.

@BikersEdgeKaysville longer reach and slacker head angle is what I heard, generally good but penalty on tight trails. Motor is same. Wonder if I would notice that big of a difference. These things depreciate like appliances
The difference in geo is pretty huge. You’re very likely to notice.

More stable, more balanced front to back both uphill and downhill, stiffer frame with a more responsive feel, better suspension kinematics, bigger battery. It’s improved in pretty much every way.

I mean that’s really cheap for an ebike. I’m a big proponent of buying bikes that fit your budget. That said, if it’s my money, I’m buying the Wild. Even the lower end H series will be amazing.
