To clarify, Hank Pym (Ant-Man) and Janet Van Dyne/Pym (The Wasp) have been around since the early 60s. Scott Lang (played in this movie by Paul Rudd) came along in the 80s, I believe (maybe earlier). Hank Pym has been Ant-Man and Giant-Man and Yellowjacket throughout various times in Marvel history.
In the comics, Ant-Man (Hank Pym) and his Wife Janet (the Wasp) were founding members of the Avengers. The movies traded them out for Hawkeye and Black Widow, who in the comics joined later. Ant-Man has a long history with the Avengers, in the comics, Hank Pym created Ultron, not Tony Stark. The Scott Lang version of Ant-Man didn't appear until the late '70s, after Hank retired the Ant-Man identity.
Michael Peña (Luis) is an amazingly versatile actor. He was hilarious in this role and in other comedies. But he's also great in dramas and action movies. His role in Crash (2004) was amazing, and will make you cry. He really is a hell of a talent.
Paul Rudd is Ant Man. Everybody loves Paul. He’s just one of those lovable actors. He’s in tons of stuff. Clueless, Anchorman, I love you man, 40 year old virgin, role models, knocked up, Wanderlust, forgetting Sarah Marshall, dinner for schmucks, night at the museum. And so many more.
I didn’t know Paul Rudd was in Night At The Museum. That’s one of my childhood favorites but I haven’t seen it in so long. Maybe you’re thinking of Owen Wilson?

Luis' stories are the best part. 🙂 Scott Lang is an electrical engineer. That covers anything to do with wires and electronics. All engineers (I'm one) share the same basic math and science, but most specialize in one particular area. The Ant Man comic first appeared in 1962, and Pym was one of the original members of the Avengers in the comics. Ant Man just wasn't as well known as Spiderman and the X-Men, who are also from Marvel. Since Marvel had licensed those characters to studios, when they wanted to do their own movies, they started with less well known characters like Iron Man and Thor. Luis whistles "It's a Small World" when posing as the security guard. That's the theme song from a Disney park ride. Disney owns Marvel 🙂
Ant-Man is one of my favorite MCU movies. I wish they had introduced Wasp earlier. I loved the flashbacks to Hank and Jan! Yellowjacket was one of Hank Pym's many aliases -- and was a super hero. They repurposed Yellowjacket for this movie.
Paul Rudd was a perfect choice for Ant-Man. Marvel has done so well to pick the perfect actors for their characters and this movie was no different. They did an excellent job putting this story together.
The two spots to check for credits scenes are after the "fancy" credits (before it changes to just text scrolling on the screen) and after the end of the credits (the giant wall of logos like Panavision) but before the Marvel logo. I am just now realizing The man in the car , when Scott landed on him after putting on the suit for the first time, was SNL original cast member Garrett Morris WHO was technically the 1st person to play Ant Man in an OLD SNL SKit !!! You can look it up on TH-cam!
Shrinking heroes are not new. They've been around since 1939. The first one was called Doll Man. The Silver age Atom appeared in 1961 and Ant Man in 1962. The man whose car Scott fell on to was Garrett Morris who was the first person to play Ant Man in live action. It was in a Saturday Night Live skit.
In the comics, Hank Pym is the man who built Ultron, not Tony Stark. He's one of the few people in the Marvel Universe smarter than Tony Stark. (You've already seen another one, but he didn't have any lines). Scott's power not only includes shrinking and controlling ants, but condensing his molecules. Which means he might be half an inch tall, but he's got all the strength of a normal person, and he's very, very, very hard to hurt. One of the really interesting things about the ants is, there's millions of them everywhere. At any given time, you're likely surrounded by thousands of ants, even when sitting inside your house. When Scott lands on the roof of his car during the "test drive" of the suit, the older black man driving the car is actor Garrett Morris in a cameo. Morris was the first person to ever play Ant Man in a live production. Sure, it was during an episode of Saturday Night Live in 1978, but it still counts as the first live performance as Ant-Man.
16:27 this is a super subtle reference. This distinguished gentleman is the incomparable Garret Morris, he is the first to ever portray Ant-Man on screen, it was back in the early days of SNL.
I've watched all the MCU films and it's great seeing you watch then and knowing what's coming up! Crazy side note, I come from the small town in England where the guy who write the Thomas the train books came from... he was a vicar.
Not sure if it was mentioned, but the man driving the car that Scott lands on is driven by Gareett Morris. He was an original member of SNL, and was the first person to play a live action Ant Man in a sketch
Great reaction. Ant-Man has some of the most imaginative and fun scenes in the MCU. The final battle on a little girl's train set gives one of the best visuals. Thomas the Tank simply falling of the tracks. That was perfection. Michael Pena as Louis steals every scene he is in. His stories are the best. Seen these movies at least a dozen times each. Despite that, there might be something I remember and it is off. My rule of thumb is admitting that I might misremember something. Before posting I use IMDB, the various wikis and internet searches to verify my recollection. Good rule of thumb about post credit sequences is to go all the way to the red Marvel Studios logo at the end.
Been enjoying your reactions to the MCU. Now that you’re about to get into “Phase 3” of what is known as the Infinity Saga, can’t wait to see your journey and reactions to probably the best stretch of movies ever!
Ant-Man is actually one of the oldest Marvel Superheroes. In the comics he is a founding member of the Avengers, created in 1962 by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The first Ant-Man was obviously Hank Pym, while Scott Lang was created as a character in 1979 and became the second Ant-Man
I always love to see aerial shots of San Fransisco. The ground starts at sea level and then ascends "halfway to the starts" as Dean Martin used to sing. The tallest building is the Transamerica Pyramid skyscraper but the highest point is Telegraph Hill, where the building is only a couple stories high.
Okay finally settling down to watch this reaction. Amber has said more than once when she's locked in on something she has to power through and trust me I get it. Other reaction channels have drawn out the MCU to the point of "when are you getting back to it" and I thought that's what I wanted. Amber is doing exactly what I always wanted to see on one of these channels and I'm now I'm conflicted. Amber is powering through and giving us content and I'm going "slow down" but please keep going! It's such a kick watching how invested she is and how much she has unknowingly picked up on for future movies. Yes I'm writing this in the third person which is odd but everyone on here who is on this journey with her will have something to say about the movie itself and what she should and shouldn't see/watch/remember/think so anything I say about that would be redundant. I'm just happy to be along for the ride. Gonna watch now - may have another comment later. Amber you are a joy to watch. 😊
Ant-Man is a character that first showed up in comics 63 years ago in 1962. There are a LOT of Marvel comic characters that were never in any of the TV shows
I have a fingerprint scanner at work we use it to log on and off at work. A lot of people use different fingers. So, there is only one way to find the correct fingerprint for the lock. The last fingerprint that was used on the scanner. When the owner of the safe last opened his safe his fingerprint would still be on the lock.
48:02 ‘Did you think that you could stop the future, with a heist??’ That line is pretty important down the road. Given that Scott tries to save the universe with a heist 👀
Hank Pym first appeared in "Tales to Astonish" issue 27, in 1962. Pym predates Hulk, Thor, Iron-Man, Spider-Man, and even the X-Men. He officially becomes Ant-Man a few issues later in "Tales to Astonish" #35. Pym later meets Janet Van Dye in "Tales to Astonish" #44, and she becomes The Wasp. Hank and Janet along with Iron-Man, Thor, and Hulk form "The Avengers" with issue 1 in 1963. Cap, who first appeared in "Captain America Comics" #1 (1941) joins the team in "Avengers" #4 Hawkeye, Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff), and Wanda Maximoff join the team in "Avengers" #16 Scott Lang first appeared in 1979 in "Avengers" 181. He becomes Ant-Man in "Marvel Premiere" issue #47 the same year. First appearances in comics for other characters mentioned: Bucky: "Captain America Comics" #1 (1941) and as the Winter Solidier in Captain America #6 (Mah 2005) Hulk: "Incredible Hulk" #1 (June 1962) Spider-Man: "Amazing Fantasy" #15 (August 1962) Thor: "Journey Into Mystery" #83 (August 1962) Iron-Man: "Tales of Suspense" #39 (December 1962) Nick Fury: "Sgt. Created by Ultron. Hank Pym in the comics created Ultron, not Tony Stark Falcon: "Captain America" #117 (September 1969) Maria Hill: "New Avengers" #4 (March 2005) Hope this helps you and others interested
Paul Rudd was in The 40-Year-Old Virgin that I know you definitely saw. He has been in TONS of great films besides. Try Clueless, Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Dinner For Schmucks and many others. He was also a recurring character on Friends, Parks and Recreation, and he had a few appearances on Reno: 911!, too.
Ant Man and Vision have some overlap in that they can change their densities and add or reduce mass. Vision has finer control of the density & mass changes, but can't change size. It's why Scott can land and run on a pistol and not be heavy enough to affect the wielder's aim, though he could if he wanted to. Or why a well-placed boot can sometimes threaten Scott (vastly lessened mass). But he can sock a bad guy by using all his regular-sized weight and power in his ant-sized fist (all his mass densely packed inside a striking point).
1:58 The woman in the opening scene was indeed an older Peggy Carter! And I’m not sure you realized it but the other man - with the white hair - in that scene was Howard Stark.
Great reaction ! And the actor's name is Wood Harris not Morris Chestnut. Almost in the same family. A chestnut's outter shell kind of resembles tree bark.
Basically The Pym Particles bring molecules and atoms closer together hence the shrinking and in that ..The shrunken object becomes more dense and durable, energy between atoms takes less time to reach another atom to create energy and force.
Thoughyly enjoying your watch along with marvel..they are my nightly viewing vids when I'm winding down and relaxing...thank you Amber..your genuine to watch and regular each day posting your vids.🌹🫶🏻🌹
56:58 That's the TH-camr Anna Akana. Watched her stuff for maybe a decade, even her TH-cam "television series" when TH-cam was doing that around 2016 (NINE YEARS AGO? Damn! This movie was 10 years ago! 35 and still a baddie! Just learned her younger sister died at 13 in 2007.).
I was trying to finish Ant-Man before you got to it. I fell asleep halfway through ( for the 2nd time). Just decided to watch it along with you and I enjoyed it more. Amber, did you notice that the Incredibly famous actor, Michael Douglas was Pym? He's the son of the late super star, Kirk Douglas. You've got to watch "Fatal Attraction"!!😊
I be checking your channel every day hoping theres a new marvel movie post. I'm glad you're enjoying it so much you just gotta keep watching. Till the next one!
The De Aging C.G.I on Micheal Douglas who played Hank Pym was amazing ..and by the way speaking of Michael Douglas..as a Young man Michael Douglas starred in a 1980's movie called "Romancing The Stone" really great movie
I love Michael Pena's character in this movie. I think I saw an interview where he was explaining how taxing it was because of the high energy of the character. It's reminiscent of Raymond Cruz' depiction of Tuco Salamanca - he was exhausted after the days where he'd been shooting scenes as that crazy mofo.
fun fact: in his presentation darren cross drops the phrase "tales to astonish" -- which was the title of the sci-fi / horror comic series that introduced hank pym, who shrank himself in marvel's sci-fi horror story "the man in the ant hill". later that year stan lee put hank in a super-suit and reintroduced him as "ant-man". fun fact #2": hank pym was the inventor of the robot villain ultron, not tony stark and bruce banner.
That was not Morris Chesnut that was Sherwin David Harris or professionally known as Wood Harris. Both he and his brother Steve Harris have appeared in several tv shows and movies over the years. They both appeared in the same TV FX network show "Justified" a decade ago.
Be careful with the end credit scenes. There are usually 2. One at the midpoint of the credits, and one at the very end. The mid credit scene usually foreshadows the next movie in the characters solo series, while the end credit either foreshadows the characters next appearance, or the next movie in the MCU. That's not always true, but it is a good general rule of thumb.
Welcome to San Francisco where another Marvel character is born. Scott Lang is quite a hoot. Great seeing the legendary Michael Douglas as Dr. Hank Pym, he did a wonderful job portraying him. Nice reaction Amber, nice to hear that Marvel is a household name in your family. I know Paul Rudd from Clueless (1995) and one of the Halloween films.
For you, these movies are coming day after day, but for the rest of us, this was a 10 year journey. Before Avengers Infinity War came out (which was the culmination of all of this storytelling) a lot of people were saying we needed a 5 or 10 minute video that recapped everything that happened so far. Tons of people wanted to see Luis from Ant-Man tell the story to catch everyone up. That would have been amazing...
Everyone was worried before this movie came out. The name, Ant-Man and the shrinking power do seem a bit silly. But the comic took itself seriously, and the character needed to be strong enough to fit in with the Avengers. The movie did a great job of threading the needle.

It's funny, because I just watched this today too, then I turn on your channel! Loved it, it was funnier than I thought it would be :)

AMBER! there are two end credit scenes on this movie!!!!
On the bug zapper the bars are the electric source and 2 minimum have to be touched. The lighted center is just the bait that attracts.

Ant man and the Wasp… BABA YAGA!!! You will love it!
48:02
‘Did you think that you could stop the future, with a heist??’
That line is pretty important down the road. Given that Scott tries to save the universe with a heist 👀
And we're binging, loving it and riding along on this amazing ride!!
Cap, who first appeared in "Captain America Comics" #1 (1941) joins the team in "Avengers" #4
Hawkeye, Quicksilver (Pietro Maximoff), and Wanda Maximoff join the team in "Avengers" #16
Scott Lang first appeared in 1979 in "Avengers" 181. He becomes Ant-Man in "Marvel Premiere" issue #47 the same year.
First appearances in comics for other characters mentioned:
Bucky: "Captain America Comics" #1 (1941) and as the Winter Solidier in Captain America #6 (Mah 2005)
Hulk: "Incredible Hulk" #1 (June 1962)
Spider-Man: "Amazing Fantasy" #15 (August 1962)
Thor: "Journey Into Mystery" #83 (August 1962)
Iron-Man: "Tales of Suspense" #39 (December 1962)
Nick Fury: "Sgt. Fury & His Howling Commandos" (May 1963)
X-Men: "The X-Men" #1 (September 1963)
Wanda and Quicksilver: "The X-Men" #4 (March 1964)
Black Widow: "Tales of Suspense" #52 (April 1964)
Hawkeye: "Tales of Suspense" #57 (September 1964)
Vision: "Avengers" #57 (August 1968). Created by Ultron. Hank Pym in the comics created Ultron, not Tony Stark
Falcon: "Captain America" #117 (September 1969)
Maria Hill: "New Avengers" #4 (March 2005)
Hope this helps you and others interested
Paul Rudd was in The 40-Year-Old Virgin that I know you definitely saw. He has been in TONS of great films besides. Try Clueless, Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Dinner For Schmucks and many others. He was also a recurring character on Friends, Parks and Recreation, and he had a few appearances on Reno: 911!, too.
31:01 ant mans first appearance was 1962.

Scott's actor has played in Friends, maybe you know him from that?
This was so much fun watching this with you. Thanks for making me laugh along side.

Fantastic video you were also good in thr music videos awesome great channel❤
Basically The Pym Particles bring molecules and atoms closer together hence the shrinking and in that ..The shrunken object becomes more dense and durable, energy between atoms takes less time to reach another atom to create energy and force.

Amber, this was the first movie in the MCU that was supposed to fail at the box office and with fans. IT DID NOT!!!!!! 🐜🐜🐜🐜🐜

The lady who played Hope was the elf in the Hobbit that fell in love twitch the dwarf.
The actress playing Hanks daughter Hope, was also in the Hobbit movies, she was Killie's love interest and Legolas's friend Tauriel ❤

Besides the reaction. I have really enjoyed you laughing thru out the whole movie. Love your enjoyment.
I'm so glad you enjoyed the train derailment scene as much as I did. I've watch Antman countless times, and I still laugh out loud when i see it!
Don't worry about missing the 2nd credit scene, it is recreated in the 3rd Captain America movie. It is where Scott meets Steve

You know, Luis actor is in Narcos Mexico from Netflix. It's a series and it is good.
Watch for a cameo from the original Ant-Man, Garrett Morris. "I shrink down to the size of an ant, with the strength of a man."
Well, on SNL in a skit, lol
Sporty fucking James.
@@brianmcmaster5112 It's cool that Marvel gave him a cameo in the film.
In the comics he was one of the original Avengers. Same as Janet Van Dine. Scott worked for Stark back during my childhood.

You should watch Observe and Report, a mall cop comedy with Seth Rogan and the guy who plays Louise(Michael Peña).
Besides being (1) of the Original Avengers
Hank Pym (Ant-Man) was also Yellow Jacket & Giant Man!!!!!
Loved the reaction. Cant wait 4 the next. Also think u missed an end credit scene
Amber!!!! This marvel journey keeps getting better and better!!
Thomas the Train crashing and falling off the track was the best.
Here's to Antony. He was one in a million.
I agree... and i see what you did there. 😊

57:16 (got someone who crawls up the wall) wow never realized they foreshadowed spider man in this movie
Spoiler?
@ how it’s literally a foreshadow in the movie lol and I never said anything about him appearing in any movies lol
Pardoning the pun…😂
