Phil Hellmuth is Ibrahimovic. The best ever in some ways, but pretty much agreed as not the GOAT, but meanwhile is 100% sure in himself as the greatest.
D-Negs is Beckham - more famous than almost all poker players but not necessarily most talented. Huge ambassador for the game.
Daniel Negreanu would be Ronaldinho in football terms, made the game much more entertaining and made a lot of people fall in love with the game.
Yeah he deserved one of the really big names with all the success he has had. I would actually have given him Messi. Then maybe put Ivey as Ronaldo.

@@AjL727 Yeah, I tend to agree. I think when I picked them I was thinking how Messi tends to be a lot more light-hearted and Ronaldo a lot more serious. But then again Ronaldo is a bit of a cry-baby and Ivey isnt :D
Working as a waiter in DC, Phil Ivey once came in and was the ultimate baller. The hostess checked his coat and got a $100 tip. "Where's the restroom?" The server who told him where it is got a $100 tip. Hilarious.
I have never been lucky enough to meet Phil Ivey but I've watched him for years and this absolutely tracks lol

The one time I had the pleasure of meeting you, you were at the Bellagio playing some high stakes Short Deck and IN THE MIDDLE OF A HAND and still took the time to say "Hi" you even let me sweat your hand, made an outrageous call saying "I just don't believe this guy. This one's for you, Jack" and called this guy's bluff and won like a 90k pot. Legend.

You didn't say which footballer you thought corresponded with Stu Ungar but I think the closest match would be Paul Gascoigne, an immense talent destroyed by his demons. Otherwise George Best.
Calling Dnegs Rashford is the worst comparison for a long long time, dnegs is more like the Zidane

Koon is amazing. I know he thinks some of the guys are ridiculous but manages to stay clean with his comments. I feel he knows his ENORMOUS skill advantage over a couple and he doesn’t wanna tap the glass.
Just Dan i think. All those other players mentionned are absolute powerhouses, I don’t think he is much better than any of them. But he can stand his ground against all of them which is amazing in itself.

Mike Sexton probably influenced more poker players than any mentioned.
It's funny actually, all through the interview Koon really reminded me of Mike Sexton the way he used draw casual players in with great stories of legendary poker figures and I was thinking to myself particularly with the stories he used to tell about Stu Ungar. I was actually quite shocked when these young guys brought up Stu, genuinely would not have expected his name to be brought up by a younger casual poker fan. It was one of those weird pieces of synchronisity for me where you're thinking of something and it shocks you when it appears infront of you unexpectedly.

Would have been interested in his views on some.of the British players, the Hendon Mob, Victoria Coren Mitchell, Devilfish or more.recently Chidwick who he seems to be playing in every tournament now.
8:53 DNegs was explained in a great was but in the wrong way lmao. DNegs is the damn Scientist of poker! Most versatile player in poker history, diabolical mindset to the finesse in live reads an can stay consistent throughout any bad result!
DNegs deserves a lot of credit for what he's done to grow the game! But the most versatile player in modern poker is probably Shaun Deeb or Erik Seidel, if by "versatile" you mean "skilled at all the games, not just HE." I don't know enough about the past to comment on "most versatile player in history."

STU Ungar did NOT win 20 million playing cash games in the 80's.........but he did lose more than 20 million betting sports in the 80's...........
50 seconds into this I had to look at this " crazy fold hand". Yes its a big lay down but at the end of the day he had trip aces with no kicker. It was along way from the nutz. Dawn has a few better ones.
