public land should never be entombed by private land. Is it really public land if the public doesn't have access? I notice that the private property/road signs almost never have contact information to gain permission.
Hey there! I really enjoy your content. I too spend a great deal of time getting as close to lost as reasonable! I also have a Camp Chef Mountaineer and cut four 1" aluminum angle irons just long enough to fit inside the stove (22 1/2" ish). I used a grinder to flatten the point of the angle iron so I could drill holes for some thumb screws that can be tightened into the threaded inserts on the corner of the stove and now my stove has some legs to stand on! Allows for a smaller table (I use an aluminum roll top) and is quick to set up and stores well. Half the fun for me is figuring out what works! Maybe I'll see you on the trail sometime!
I’ve had my eye on the GSI Pinnacle Pro 2 burner stove. I remember when they were taking pre-orders. I almost pulled the trigger, but I also have a perfectly working stove (Coleman) that I still use, but man that thin Pinnacle Pro would be a nice replacement being that I can in a Crosstrek.
Black Rock gave you away on this one. Pretty dominant in your video. Once I get a landmark it is over... There is a road on the other side of the river that looks like it might be a option to get farther in? Thanks for the video! George.
Do the property owners actually OWN the road? Does BLM confirm this or not? I feel your frustration as a few years back I encountered this same situation in the Ochoco Mountains.
I understand your position about private property access. This past week, somebody/someones came onto my private property. They cut the padlock off of my storage shed and stole over $10K of my belongings. Camping gear, auto parts, tools. Now it is up to me to provide the reciepts/info to make an insurance claim. I could not even get a local police officer to respond. I had to file it online. There are good people and then there are Bad People. The only true option left is No People. From now on, it will be fenced and gated... This is 110 acres with a road/jeep trail through it.
I lived off grid alone for years,, can't believe people still believe they can leave and all is good.. Fencing will do nothing if no one is there.....really common sense......
Wonderful video. Regarding your access dilemma, I wonder if the BLM maintains contact information for the private properties that block access and would they be willing to share it with you. That ruins the spontaneity but it might yield access in some cases. I agree that the situation is unreasonable but this might be a workaround.
Montana is the worst state i have seen for blocking people's access to public lands. A small parcel of land blocks off thousands of public land along the Idaho border.
Wow What beautiful scenery... thanks for sharing. There's plenty of folks, who try to stop access to public property, or have lobbied Govt depts to enshrine it. I have become cynical after seeing many private homeowners, (Here in NZ and Australia) try to stop access to beaches and rivers, they want for their own. but it's not theirs to do so. By scaring unknowing citizens away, by strongly worded Legitimate looking signs. but simply not worth the time and effort of putting them up Strongly worded signs actually mean Nothing, without any contact details on them, so it can in fact be checked. (And just not a Mobile (Cell) number to wannabe landowner), they also need like a permit number, or actual address, GPS coordinates, again so it can be verified. A sign with no contact or verifiable details, it like a Kids, "No Parents Zone" sign on your 7yr olds bedroom door, after they have been grounded hahah . Like Pollies mantra of Deny, Deny, Deny, ours should always be Prove, Prove, Prove.
We have similar issues in Wyoming. There's public land you simply can't legally get to, at least not without special permission from private land owners.
If you drop a pin, we will all call the BLM office and ask that the easement be opened. Use your platform so we can make these changes! Enclosing ounlic lands must be resisted!
From everything I've read, easements are generally mandated to access public lands when no other access is possible. Legal means may be required to present an "easement by necessity". Owners of private property can not unilaterally obstruct such easements.
ah I see French quesadillas are on the menu tonite. How can quesadillas even be French? Why Emperor Maximilain of course! it's all connected. Why French? why cooked in butter, of course!
What a bunch of bs. Every land owner should be forced to allow passage to PUBLIC LAND by contract. Don't like it? Don't by land bordering land I should be able to use at my whim. Was this discussed when y'all were kumbyah with the DFG?
As hard as I try to plan routes ahead of time I also get stopped by gates and closures. Even had one last year on my states (.gov) suggested ohv routes. Reached out to the state when I got home and their solution was to remove the route from the website.
"Crossing private lands to access public lands is not permitted, unless you first obtain permission from the private landowner" Right from the BLM website. Do a quick search of can i cross private land to get to blm land
@@ryanhogue2917 it's sad really. I wish I could say you were right. Look up the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. They are working with lots of groups to make it possible.
I envy you being able to be awake n active so early in the mornings, seems like just to share the scenery to us viewers 🤜🏻🤛🏼
Those beautifully photographed moments capture what it's all about. Well done, and thanks!

Beautifully done Donald. It's such a pleasure to watch your videos.
Great video! I loved the scenery shots.

Those white bands and ridges could be quartz or talc. Can't tell from here. Did you see any signs of mining in the area?
I noticed that you didn’t check to see if there are any fish in that river🤔. I guess I will have to go find out for myself.😂🎣.
Some good adventure. Beautiful area.
They even stole my Camp Chef stove. Just seeing that. An XMas gift from my little nephews

Love the camp chef stove, makes me wanna get one myself👍

Where'd you get that anorak? Nice-lookin'.
how many of those people woke up and said to themselves, "better lace up my sweater before I go overloading today'?

I am sorry that you had major disappointments with the chained gates. I understand how you feel.
