    Great review. So many areas covered, and the footage of actual play. Fully detailed explanations and high quality b-roll shots of the string and closeups of racket with string... The advice is obviously coming from a person with a passion for tennis, AND one that also plays, AND strings rackets. Again, great review.

    Solid string and feels pretty good at lower tensions. I’m stuck on Yonex Poly Tour Fire 125 right now. Really solid but softer feeling poly. I’d love to see a review on it from you. Keep rocking the channel!

      Kyle Mehnert this was a solid string literally, like it definitely wasn’t soft soft like some others, but very unique feel. Thanks for the tip on ptf, haven’t really heard much about it so that’s good to hear. Thanks so much man, testing Tour Bite right now so stay tuned! 🙏

    4G Soft is a great string. Same controlled, predictable response and tension maintenance as 4G, but noticeably softer on the arm. In terms of stiffness, I'd put it on par with Hyper G 16 / 16L. It won't deliver as much spin as Hyper G, but is more predictable. I think it's horse for courses. If one has whippy strokes with semi-western / western grips, Hyper G might be the way to go to really grip the ball and maximise spin. If one drives through the ball with an eastern grip, 4G Soft will be better.

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, and it was a little out of my wheelhouse because I don't hit flat - but still enjoyable. Still a stiff string relative to the rest of the playing field but can be made more comfy by going low tension. Thanks for your 2 cents it really helps other players curious about strings.

    • @johnnyguitar6697
      @johnnyguitar6697 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@EvokeTennis In my view, it's a middle of the road poly as far as stiffness is concerned: not as soft as Volkl Cyclone, but less jarring than the regular 4G or Solinco Tour Bite. The TW string comparison tool gives it at the same stiffness as Hyper G in the same gauge, which mirrors my experience. But, as said earlier, they play quite different.

    Great review! You said is your first time to use a Luxilon string, which I’m very surprised. Anyhow, I’d love to hear your opinion on ALU Power 16L. I’ve been using the ALU starting this year, the reason for the switch is because the original big banger is no longer available in regular packages (Reels only).

      Matthew Xiang thank you Matthew, yes I can’t believe it either. I strung a customers racket with Alu Power recently and was impressed at how soft it felt compared to rpm blast, so will need to give it a go soon!

    Trying regular 4G at the moment. Great string, however I don't know if it's worth the price tag on this stuff, even with the supposed above average tension maintenance. I'm playing some great tennis with it though so I'll enjoy this while it lasts, but probably going with something easier on the wallet next time. Have a set of Gamma Jet I'll try next. Saw a reel of Kirshbaum Super Smash on sale for an insanely low price, so I ordered it. Even if I don't love it, I'm not out much and I can still use it for hybrids.

    Hey great review; I am recovering from tennis elbow, would this be the best string for that? kind of pricy @ $35 on Amazon

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you Mark. Congrats on the recovery process. Without knowing more about your TE history or current level I would have to say No to this string because there are so many others that are softer. Yes it is slightly softer but still a pretty solid string in terms of polys.
      I would be playing with multifilament until you are feeling super good, then when you're ready to step up I would look at doing a poly main with multi cross. If that's going all good then would step up to a softer poly than this like TB Soft thin gauge. I know it sounds like a process but it could be worth it while you are really strengthening that arm back up and getting good form back. Anyway let me know if you need more specific recommendations for soft poly's I'll do some digging. I saw tennis warehouse has this string for around $18 still so check them if you can.

    I like 4G because frankly I don’t notice it in my racket. It just firms up my soft multi or gut that’s in the mains.

  • @Jlymansackhead
    @Jlymansackhead 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I tried 4g soft for the first time today, strung at 44lbs in a Wilson Ncode six one 95 18x20 and it was buttery smooth. I hit with eastern one handed backhand and semi-western forehand and I supply my own power so I was worried these string would fly on me at low tension that I like, but that did not happen. I was actually surprised at the access to spin I had when I wanted it, but more so the feel on slices and volleys were excellent for a poly. Also, these strings were very predictable and precise. Not too powerful or too muted and underpowered. Tried it side by side with Solinco Confidential at the same tension and racket, but I quickly put it down and opted for the Lux. I didn’t hate Confidential, but the feel wasn’t as good on slice as with the 4g soft, and that is very important to me.

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Alu power is a power string and softer feeling than 4g Soft, now keep in mind I reviewed Alu 18g which feels a lot softer than the 16g. I wouldn't consider 4G Soft a soft poly when compared to the rest of the field. Alu Power is going to be more attractive to the average player from the feel on the racket.

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You know that is a great question, this string has a very coated feel like there is a layer of gloss on the outside. When I think of plasticky I think of something with no life, no feel - but I think I was able to get some life out of it by stringing at 43 lbs. It could be a great hybrid curious if you'd be using it as the main or the cross and what tension?

  • @tonygareth221
    @tonygareth221 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I’m losing strength and power so I think I need a string that helps with power and not too control oriented (even tho u g I need control) I just need some help. Maybe change rackets too to something more powerful. Wilson Clash 98?

    • @EvokeTennis
      @EvokeTennis  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I thought this had good power for being a stiffer type of string but there are many others I would recommend for power over this. If you need real power then multi or gut is the way to go. Maybe even the Triax route? Haven't had experience with the Clash yet but I would think it would fairly powerful
