  • Desktop Connector is the conduit connecting Civil 3D to the Autodesk Construction cloud. In this session we'll take our first look at Desktop Connector and use it to sync selected projects to a local workspace. We'll also demonstrate how files accessed from the workspace are automatically locked/unlocked/versioned in the cloud. We'll learn how file versioning can be controlled using a free "local save" add-in. Finally, we'll review some helpful tips for using and troubleshooting Desktop Connector.

    Hello Jeff, I love the video’s you make about civil3d. Now i have one question: is in possible, when i use the camera of a smartphone or a tablet, to project the infomation of the dwg-file into the live camera images?

    Hey Jeff, why don't you advocate having Civil 3D and the web browser for ACC open at the same time? Does this produce some syncing bugs?

      You can't hurt anything by having Civil 3D and the web browser open side by side while working. The reason I don't advocate doing this is because it isn't necessary. I only use the side-by-side view to illustrate what happens behind the scenes when working in the cloud.

    Do you have a series demonstrating the migration of a Civil 3D project to ACC?

      I have not created a series on this topic, but one of my colleagues created a walkthrough video of the new "Autodesk DWG Migration for Docs" tool. This tool can be used to migrate an existing Civil 3D project to ACC. th-cam.com/video/wL7Kp7YJlS4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=F8yyxfIUuHWOdg7p

    Hi jeff, how are these functionalities relate to collaborate/collaborate pro licenses? is the AEC bundle enough for me to perform the actions demonstrated?

    • @JeffBartelsCAD
      @JeffBartelsCAD  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In this four-part series, we are covering the functionality necessary to manage a Civil 3D project in the cloud in a similar manner to how it's done traditionally on a local server. BIM Collaborate Pro offers many collaborative workflows over and above traditional (local server) workflows. Many of these items (Team spaces, shared packages, model coordination, clash detection, meeting/correspondence management, etc.) will be covered in future sessions. When it comes to traditional workflows, a BIM Collaborate Pro license is required for Civil 3D cloud projects to use data shortcut functionality. Generally speaking, this means the Autodesk Docs in the AEC bundle will allow you to do everything shown in the first three sessions of this series. However, the Autodesk Docs in the AEC bundle does not allow data shortcut functionality, which is a minimum requirement for Civil 3D project collaboration. Hope this helps!

      @@JeffBartelsCAD It does help. you have a gift for simply explaining things that Autodesk overcomplicates for no apparent reason. Thanks!
