Awesome tutorial, thank you! Had to make mine a but shorter than I would have linked because the handles use up so much fabric, but its still cute. I made a lined version with a boxed bottom. Was struggling to find a lined version tutorial, so did it by making x2 of this bag with a slight seam allowance, dropping the lining bag in, hand stitching the wrong side bottom corners together so lining stays in place, turning the outside piece the right way and then folding the hem of each bag piece inwards and sewing together. Could have bias binded it instead but was saving the fabric for something else.
I just made it with a lacy fabric from an old courtain and it turned out so pretty!!! I had to add the straps to the body of the bag cause my fabric was not big enought to cut just one pice, not as clean but works just fine. I mirrored the figure so I just cuted 2 pices for the straps, so back and front are from the same pice.

Good point, yeah you could fold the edge in. Pros and cons to both. Bias tape is more work but creates a more rigid bag. Also really useful for hiding edges if you don't have a serger and don't want a raw edge on inside. Alternatively you could just serge or fold the edge inside itself and sew that down. That definitely works too.
Thinking about going back into sewing.. i just should have go to designer school as my teacher told me back in the day.. but its never too late to start .. 😌

I love your videos man! I'm planning on making this bag with my midweight Japanese stretch denim fabric (Cotton 55% + Polyethyene 42% + Polyurethane 3%). Would you happen to have any tips on sewing this bag with this fabric? This would be my first ever project, so any pointers would be much appreciated
That should be comparatively easy to sew given the contents despite being stretchy. I'd just get some medium size (I think it's like 80/12? that should be a good size for denim) ball point needles, as those tend to work better with stretchy fabrics. Also, best advice I can give for stretch fabrics is use fresh needles (they technically have an 8 hr lifespan, but... who does that even though it makes a difference), check the grains of your fabric, if you cut one piece on the straight grain and another on the bias and try to sew them together... it's gonna be harder because they'll be pulling at different rates, pin or clip beforehand, go slowly. For god's sake press the fabric before and after sewing. I never used to do that but it's SO MUCH EASIER to work with. Clean the inside of your machine (unless it's brand new, this should be done every 5 bobins but again... who does that). Sewing is a lot like dealing with cats. You don't train them, you take preventative measures.
I would find a local print shop and see if they can print it true to scale. In the UK it cost me £4.5o to print it on an A0 size sheet of paper. (33 inches by 46 inches approx)

Great job. The zig zag stitch should go over the raw edges. That prevents fraying up to the point you started your zig zag. Great video!
