    I had IPS on my previous boat..the maneuverability is incredible but so many problems with the controls unit..a traditional shaft line is more reliable

      Totally agree. They are innovative, but finicky. And expensive to maintain and repair. 😎

      IPS units do have more moving parts compared to a traditional shaft. We have seen improved reliability in past few years as the technology becomes more 'dialed in'.

      @@YachtsByDusty Could be, but I have another experience with my friend who bought a new Azimut 78 fly 2021, 3 IPS. First year had problems during summer cruise in Sardinia. Boat stuck for 10 days, and holiday ruined. Too "delicate" in my opinion

    We are getting to the point that nobody will have the true skill in operating a boat... wait till it breaks down and you have no clue how to dock your boat.....

      It's definitely important to have proper training on how to maneuver and dock your boat using the throttle levers in the event of an equipment malfunction. The upside of this technology entering the marine market is it gives more boaters the confidence to move into various sizes of boats.
