I used to have one in the early eighties called Agua Brava by Puig in a splash bottle. Really nice and strong as hell. Today it’s just a shadow of it’s former self

Great channel! No bs, you get right to it. I was hoping you would mention Jovan musk for men. My fragrance since 1978. It used to be called Jovan Musk Oil for men. It's gone through big changes. Doesn't smell nearly the same., but my wife and daughter still love it. I saw you talked about it on a video. In wondering if you had any updates on your opinion. Keep up the great videos!
In a week or two I'll be talking about Jovan Musk. Had a really weird experience with it after not smelling it for decades. Really appreciate the kind words "T". Glad you like it.

@@thefreestylefrEaK I had never tried Jovan Musk until a couple of summers ago. Tried it in a Walmart parking lot and even though I had never heard of it, I had clearly smelled it a million times before when I was much younger. It was a weird experience.

The very first fragrance I had was English Leather in my Christmas stocking when I was about 10. Had it for years in a really nice bottle. Purchased a small bottle two years ago and now it's......bad. Not sure what they did to it, but ha ha, it's not the same. Nice to hear from you Brad. Take care man.

Great list! You made me revisit my Pour Lui after hearing about the aldehydes. I love fragrances with that prominent soapy slightly frosty note. It's not very common in mens fragrances. Some that I have that uses aldehydes well are Chanel Allure Homme Sport, MDCI Chypre Palatin (Absolutely Gorgeous 🤤), & Givenchy Insense.
My absolute favorite using that note is Minotaure Paloma Picasso (1992), made by my favorite perfumer (Michel Almairac, who also made Joop & Fahrenheit)
Minotaure in a nutshell:
Sparkling sandalwood/orange creamsicle/soapy airy marshmallow-like softness/slightly spiced peach fuzziness, but yet still masculine.
Older (Cosmair) formulation 10/10
Current formulation 7.5/10
Rumor has it Minotaure used to be David Bowie's favorite frag at one time.
Bowie? Okay, now I gotta try it. Thx.
Obsession is still one of my go to fragrances.

Explaining what the term "barbershop" smell is, thanks for that. I've been wondering how to define that.
I'm 59 so here's my list, Aramis, Jovan Musk Oil, English Leather, Old Spice, One Man Show, Gray Flannel, Canoe, Stetson, Paco Rabonne, Bjan, Candies for men, Curve, and last and my number one Lapidus.
Ted Lapidus Pour Homme, my first fragrance, bought them when I was 14

Candies for men is somewhat of an oddball in the list, but what a Great fragrance it was in the late 1990's!
I remember my dad having a large bottle on his dresser, and I would sneak a few sprays before going off to high school. That sweet & sour watermelon note set it apart. They tried to bring it back after some years, but the new formulation is a big disappointment.
Lapidus Pour Homme is a steal for the price and a banger in performance!
If you like Kouros & Oscar de la Renta Pour Lui, you'll probably enjoy the Lapidus as well 👍
Great list. I'm not a huge fan of Le Male but I know it's an important fragrance in the community. I'd have Aramis and Kouros on the list.

You got yourself there a vintage late 80's Obsession bottle, my friend. Check out that built in sprayer! I have the same big bottle, beautiful scent.
You know, I was never sure how old it was and was just guessing. Either way the performance is monstrous. Really appreciate you letting me know because I had no idea how to figure out the age.
Couple years ago I was just getting back into collecting fragrances… I had been collecting again for about 1.5 years.. and prior to that… my last collection I had about 40-45 fragrances with a handful of body sprays and what not…
Then I stopped for a few years and used up what I had… Then for about a year or two I went back to a normal person (lol) and had about 2-5. Bottles at any one time.. Anyway….
There was a fantastic perfume retail shop in my local mall.. They were so much better than the Fragrance Outlet and others. They had massive selections with online discounter prices. I bought a number of fragrances from them… Including Guerlain L’homme Ideal edt..
However… They had a few other Guerlain’s I wasn’t familiar with at that point of the journey. Once I realized what they were…. It was too late. They ended up closing that store out of nowhere on me..
They had 2 bottles of L’Instant edt and 1 bottle of LIDGE… Original bottle style / formulations..
They were selling them for $30 and $35….
God only knows where those bottles ended up..
OH man. I wish I lived where you did. Your local shop sounds amazing. I live in a small conservative town where the only places I can get stuff are pharmacies and one small Sephora at my local mall. I'd be a true addict if I lived in your town.
farhenheit is way lighter than i remember in the 80s. try bentley infinite rush… perfect blend of fahrenheit and terre hermes

@@ScentsofStyle99 infinite rush has the violet note…. but its not listed. infinite intense has it listed but is more of a vetivet fragrance. rush is amazing

Underrated fragrance IMHO.
Interesting! I just started and I’m 25 but a vintage geek when it comes to clothes and to fragrances too apparently, I think the modern stuff is really boring, so now I mainly have 60s and 70s reproductions, cool to get into what a barbershop smell is, to me it’s just such a distinct smell, it’s like “oh the barber!” So fun to know what it could be that makes it into a barbershop scent 😅, my new favorite barbershop scent now is paco rabane pour homme, just got it and if you love barbershop scents, oh my it’s for you, it’s opening is a trip to the barbers in a bottle, sooo refreshing 😍😍😍😍
If you’re a vintage fragrance lover. You have to get ARAMIS! It’s my signature fragrance.

The original formulation of obsession was absolute chick magnet in the 80s for me I was the first guy in my erea to rock it always got the new stuff that came put ..You never mentioned Hie"" karate """😏👍🏻

I'm 32 and I want to try old school barbershop like perfumes like Drakkar but I don't want to blind buy it.. but part of me I want to try classic perfumes.
Drakkar Noir isn't a fragrance you need to be afraid of. You can blind buy it, no problem. It's not one of the dirty older fragrances that you need to be worried about. The onliy issue with drakkar is that it got quite a bit watered down. It will still give you 4 hours of longevity but it used to be much stronger.

@@ScentsofStyle99 Indeed, always subjective but I think it’s pretty well known in the community that the new formulation is different. Your bottle is an old version. Now they’re in the short bottle. I’ve heard great things about Habit Rouge and would love to smell the real/old formulation. Honestly, none of the Guerlin are for me. I respect their uniqueness and they’re so well balanced and smooth. Hopefully someday I’ll find one that fits me. I do have balls but is it so uncommon for you to hear an honest opinion? I hear yours often lol
