Hi, guys. I am a 79-year-old Uruguayan and I was lucky enough to hear Pavarotti live when he visited Uruguay in the 1980s. He ended his performance by singing "Nessum Dorma", it was really wonderful. For me it is a pleasure to listen to opera. Sorry for my English, my language is Spanish. Hugs.
Always good to see people of a different generation and cultural background that you might expect, appreciating excellence in music, which crosses all boundaries.
Actually I met him in person right after the 1990 Rome Tenors concert at the airport. Husband and I turned around and there he was! And he was absolutely charming. NO diva airs about him.
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee He actually squatted down to the level of our seven year old to ask whether his ambition was to be either the next Gerd Müller or Fritz Wunderlich. (Husband was German).
@@Spo-Dee-O-Dee Many divas would have overlooked the child...but kids were obviously something special to Pav...he DID do a lot of charity work for children in war zones. @@susanhuy2819non tutti lo sanno ma Pavarotti da giovane è stato un insegnante di educazione fisica di scuole elementari quindi molto vicino ai bambini .
I'm Canadian from an English/Scots/Irish / Swede / Yugoslavian heritage ... He's in my limited view the best tenor who's existed, but I'm not sure pride-of-nation is relevant. ... Okay, but if I were 1/18th Italian, I'd probably say the same thing.
Dude on the right... This hit you deep! You're the reason I kept watching. When he sings, I always do that. It's like, saying he's perfect isn't good enough!! It's just unbelievable really. The beauty!
It is wonderful to watch the joy these young men feel at Pavarotti performance. We should open our minds and hearts to all types of music. We discover treasure we would have missed. Thank you
Music is universal and transends explanation . I have no idea what he is singing about, but it moves me to tears every time I hear him sing. Thank you for sharing ❤️
In this aria he is a prince that longs to wed the princess.to win her over he had to make a bet that no one would discover his name, so he will be granted her hand. Now it's the last night before the time ends and nobody has discovered his secret( ma il mio mistero è chiuso in me, il nome mio nessun sapra') and as day approaches he thinks with longing to his dear princess, that he will soon kiss and take away the tears from. He sings at last ' all'alba vincero'', at dawn I will win
Mr. Veli..I am a 70+ yr old gma and I just discovered your posts. Am truly loving your reactions to songs....Dimash's too. It's like I have a friend who feels the emotions of each artist as I do! So fun.
It’s beautiful seeing your emotions and your reaction. I cry every time I listen to Pavarotti singing Nessun Dorma. He is the greatest bel canto tenor. 🥹
I've enjoyed Pavrotti's performances for years and don't understand a word. It IS all about the conveyance and power and ability to be able to convey that emotion to others. It is wonderful, magical.
When Luc belted out those long notes..it was like he was pulling up his sleeves and flexing the largest biceps in the world. The power he had combined with the emotion of his voice was amazing. Great person to..a big kid that really loved sharing opera with young people. I was lucky to see him on a tour where he gave American kids a taste of opera..and it still stays with me today watching this larger than life guy use sound to evoke emotions and the power of it.
One of the few times where it is a privilege to be Italian for a complete experience of music and lyrics. There is no one as good as him, an opera singer as good as big Luciano has yet to be born...
He really was an incredible voice filled with richness and power. He was a bit of a spoiled Diva as a person but his skill and voice was magnificient. 🥰🥰Greetings from a Canadian Dear🇨🇦
60 some years old an have yet to see an opera. they say you do not need to know the language it is sung in because the feeling and emotion comes across all barriers of humanity no matter the language
I saw the 3 Tenors a few yrs ago in concert, Pavarotti sang Nessu Dorma It was an absolutely a wonderful experience, his voice transended you out of this world ! ❤
The one I believe wearing the dew rag, I felt the same way watching this. I actually tear up. When you put your hand on your heart, that's the moment we both shared. We are connected brother! Peace be with both of you 😊
I loved your comment on song is the language of emotion and so on. Pavarotti has that effect on people and he dedicated his life to bring opera to the people. Opera is not music for the elite, as some think. I remember as a child in Italy, the maids going to the opera. It’s for everyone that loves music and beauty. Good job guys.
For those that TRULY haven't heard of this GOD'S voice. Boy are your ears and senses in for a wicked treat...!!! Being a tenor singer myself Luciano as a fellow tenor was someone i always looked up to for inspiration. I am of course not ANYWHERE close to what he possessed for a gift. And i don't think anyone in my lifetime or perhaps the next will be either. Yes folks he was THAT PHENOMENAL. He truly was anointed by god with something very rare and special. The likes of which we just may never see again. So treasure his voice when you hear it folks. It truly is a once in a lifetime experience. That's just my personal opinion of course.
This is my favorite piece of opera. Never fails to give me goosebumps. You really need to listen to the Pavarotti and Freddie Mercury version of this song. Both were truly legends.
Nessun Dorma = Nobody Sleeps, the last aria, Puccini's opera Turnadot.....and absolutely NAILS that final refrain, Al alba vincero, vincero, VINCEROOO!!!!!
Your beautiful smiles captured my heart, beautiful reaction. Caruso is another fantastic song by Luciano Pavarotti and It's a man's man's man's world his duet with James Brown is awesome ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Firstly, I’d like to congratulate you both on your true, respectful appreciation of this performance. Secondly, it’s heartwarming to see young people react so positively to music genres they haven’t encountered before. I enjoyed this enormously. Best wishes from the UK 🇬🇧 ❤😊
What Pavarotti did was even tho many dont even know what he is singing (ie his language) with his voice he gave the passion of the note , so you felt it inside ,,deep inside.
Soul singer James Brown sang live with Pavarotti. Imagine being invited to sing beside a voice like that. At the end when he hits those final notes -- look at his face -- Luciano isn't even in that arena -- he's in another zone we never go to. But are allowed to hear.
It's so lovely to see your reaction to Pavarotti singing because his voice is one of the best ever. I never get tired of hearing it and I get emotional every time.
How WONDERFUL that you got to hear Pavarotti and his musical calling card, Nessun Dorma. Opera really does offer something for everyone. More wonders lie ahead, friends.
A great Video you respected the fantastic voice of this Opera Singer and did not stop or interrupt it to appreciate his performance .Respect to you guys that you are prepared to listen to all types of music and vocals . 👍👍
I am old and I have acquired a love of all music, from classical to hip hop, although I do struggle with heavy metal (my son and eldest granddaughter’s favourite music). I have this concert on tape and DVD … I know, you can probably stream it, but I am set up to use the DVD whenever I want, so it’s staying. Keep expanding your appreciation for everything musical. It is a true fact that my grandchildren are always asking me what is on my latest Spotify playlist. I am loving Red Clay Strays “Wondering Why” and anything by the Teskey Brothers at the moment because blues/soul/country are my all time favourite sounds.

I'm not a huge opera fan but when this man sings you listen. Such a powerful, mesmerising voice.
