I remember the first time I heard Primus in the 90's, my son had it playing on his system in his car and I said "turn down that shit" lol..several years ago, one of his friends came over and played Primus. I LOVED it,. I guess back then, I wasnt ready, but now Primus is one of my favorites and I'm 63 years old.. taught me a lesson to always stay open to all music.
AYY SALTY!! I'm so glad you liked them!! Primus videos are always hilarious so I thought you'd get a kick out of it. Stupid fun describes the whole band perfectly honestly. Just good old light hearted fun with a nice funky tune.
I love primus, I used to have a vhs of them live back before TH-cam and me and my middle school band mates would watch it over and over and over and worship it like it was the holy grail....I even have a primus tattoo lol
Primus is one of my favorites. John the fisherman was great. Im sure alot of people know this. Les claypool trid out for metallica Bass player. They turned him down saying he was to good. He had to do his own thing. That’s crazy.
One of my favorite bands of all time they are all incredibly talented but the stuff Les Claypool does on bass is otherworldly it's the chunkiest thunder like sounding bass lines and he can slap like no other
Primus is lots of fun. Their bassist, Les Claypool, has a lot of quality solo work, as well. I second the suggestion to check out "Wynonna's Big Brown Beaver" by Primus.
Holy shit, Primus was my favorite band 25 years ago, and still bang it!!!!! Need to check all their stuff, weird, entertaining, and awesome band. Candyman next please.
Primus is its own genre. If you like slap bass and weirdness and songs about fishing and if you've ever watched South Park and Willy Wonka wasn't strange enough on its own, just throw your headphones on and dig into the Primus discography.
I stumbled on primus years ago surprised someone else knew them lol but check out - fish on off their sailing the seas of cheese album 😄 I used to listen to it on the way to the lake !
I always felt like les Claypool played a backward rush beat. I would think opening for rush had to be a awesome show. Im actually surprised i didn’t go to that. I lived in port Richey back then. I have been to a few of primus shows in ybor city
@@joemedvec2248 That was one of only 3 shows in my life that gave me chills...the other 2 being King's X in Atlanta and the Yes Reunion tour that opened up here in Pensacola. Actually got to meet Chris Squire during their practice sessions the prior week. RIP Chris.
WOW, they look so young in this video. 'Southbound Pachyderm', as well as any track that jumps out at you from their 'Sailing The Seas of Cheese' album are my suggestions. Peace/JT
Funny you called it as a driving song. That seems counter-intuitive to me. However, I first heard them on a road trip circa 1990. The contrast between the motion of the car steadily gliding through the desert with the staccato nature of the music was awesome. It still is tradition for me to play primus in road trips.
shake hands with beef just has the bouncy driving beat that makes any drive feel like you're in one of those old cartoons with the car bouncing down the road to the beat.
Seen them at Molson Park Barrie Ontario Canada and when they did MY NAME IS MUD i was middle of the mosh ust got up in the surf and was bounced all over the place was most fun ever ....... Keep doing Primus these guys are insane...... HOG member and loving all the reactions......
You might already know The Meters, they are a huge influence for Les Claypool (Primus bassist), to the point Primus covered "Tippi toes". Primus sucks, and they are FUN-KAY! And if you're in for a totally wacky video, check out "Brain buys a crappy drumset". Brain was Primus' drummer in "Shake hands with beef". th-cam.com/video/tF5tSTxyahg/w-d-xo.html
les claypool (the bass player and singer) is 58 now. if you look his stuff up with primus and when all of it happened you just may find that they were just not widespread enough to catch your attention unfortunately. i mean primus started the year i was born (1984).
"Shaking Hands with Beef" is a term that Claypool would use to describe his vegetarian/vegan friends that would occasionally cave and go hit up Taco Bell, McDonald's, etc.
Oh! Thank you for that bit of info. Here I was thinking that term meant a young man's...*ahem* exploration of early pubescence. That definition makes much more sense.
Instrumentally I do like the funk but I could never get into Primus, just not my bag. One of those bands where I wouldn't change the station if they came on but I wouldn't seek them out either.
It amazes me how many people say they've never heard of Primus but you can almost guarantee they've heard the South Park theme.
I often forget that that was a thing 😅
Les Claypool's bass ability cannot be denied. Dude is amazing!
Primus is a fun rabbit hole to go down...
Too Many Puppies

Pork Soda has a special place in my heart because it was cool back when I was cool
Best comment ever!
If you like Primus, check out the song "Those Damn Blue Collar Tweakers", live at Woodstock 94. A great performance in front of a zillion people.
There's many sounds of Primus. If you want the FUNK, Lee Van Cleef, is the Primus song to check out. They are funky as hell.
AYY SALTY!! I'm so glad you liked them!! Primus videos are always hilarious so I thought you'd get a kick out of it. Stupid fun describes the whole band perfectly honestly. Just good old light hearted fun with a nice funky tune.
As always, keep up the Amazing work man! Sending good vibes your way (:
Thanks so much, Capybara. Definitely good stuff for a mood boost!!
Primus rocks I seen them and Rush in concert back in 92✌️😁 check out their big brown beaver song.
Ok I'll say it. Salty please check out wynonnas big brown beaver by Primus.
This a man's song. Got shake hands with Beef at least once a day to keep it healthy.
Primus is an awesome band. Les Claypool can slap the bass with the best of them. Primus does the theme song for South Park.
If you like this song you should react to "My name is Mud" by Primus it has a killer 6 string bass riff
This, then Mud, then Tommy, it's hard to dislike Les's bass and voice
I love primus, I used to have a vhs of them live back before TH-cam and me and my middle school band mates would watch it over and over and over and worship it like it was the holy grail....I even have a primus tattoo lol

Didn't expect you to land on Primus! They've got a whole bunch of fun, unorthodox tunes I bet you'd like
One of my favorite bands of all time they are all incredibly talented but the stuff Les Claypool does on bass is otherworldly it's the chunkiest thunder like sounding bass lines and he can slap like no other

You should try their song 'Southbound Pachyderm'.
You had me at Lawnmower mix! Listen to more Ptimus! Great songs / vids include Wynona's Big Brown Beaver, Tommy the Cat, My Name Is Mud.
Holy shit, Primus was my favorite band 25 years ago, and still bang it!!!!! Need to check all their stuff, weird, entertaining, and awesome band. Candyman next please.

Look up the entire Duo de Twang album, I promise you'll dig it.
Holy potatoes! Never thought I'd see Salty and Primus together!!
Nor me ... yet here we are. LOL
@@SaltyReacts Hahaha I'll drink to that!

Saw Primus open up for Rush in Orlando back in the early 90s...talk about a SHOW!
I always felt like les Claypool played a backward rush beat. I would think opening for rush had to be a awesome show. Im actually surprised i didn’t go to that. I lived in port Richey back then. I have been to a few of primus shows in ybor city

The theme from South Park is by Primus
If your doing Primus go with American Life, Jerry was a race car driver, those damn blue collared tweekers, my name is mud ortommy the cat.

Primus kicks ass

First time hearing these guys kind of brings me back a bit to remembering.
"Where's The Beef" 😂🤣😂
Love that Bass!
Oh yes!! Remember the woman smackin beef patties under her arm pit?? LOL

Weird thing is is that this guy is probably around the age of Les Claypool “Primus’ lead” who is 58 himself.
Primus is the best slap bass band ever! Great band. Listen to big brown beaver and jerry was a race car driver!

Instrumentally I do like the funk but I could never get into Primus, just not my bag. One of those bands where I wouldn't change the station if they came on but I wouldn't seek them out either.
I definitely get that ...
Go listen to Tommy the Cat, like yesterday.
Check this one out its worth your time! -Clowncore "cars"
Primus is the only band on Spotify to have their own genre. Primus is Primus and yes, they do suck👍
Primus seems to be known for 2 things. The bass and being weird AF.
I can see why!! LOL
Dude you don't know about Primus? You are my age, how do you go through life without Les Claypools grooves?
Les claypool is the best bassist ever
Respectfully disagree. That honor would go to either Geddy Lee or Victor Wooten. Don't get me wrong Les Claypool is one of the goats.
Oi

PRIMUS SUCKS!
