I'm surprised that Matthew Kelly was mentioned. I would have expected them to avoid directly referencing him, given the situation. I mean, they were entirely correct to not distance themselves from him at this stage in proceedings. But I wouldn't have expected them to have had the courage to say his name on the show until he was cleared. Good on them though for showing that gesture of standing by him, I seriously doubt that he would be treated in that proper way in this day and age.
The matter was being investigated at this point and Matthew declined to host three specials he thought it would be inappropriate while the investigation was going on but he was delighted Davina stepped in for him Granada television had his back the whole way and were supporting him wholeheartedly He returned in August 2003 to present three specials but then announced as the live final 2004 was approaching he decided to quit because his heart wasn't in it anymore and wanted to return to acting at least he got a good send off he really didn't deserve any of that And he probably left at the right time to be honest because The show only lasted two more years after he had gone I still think the show deserved a better send off rather than just being shoved into darkness after 2006 after 16 years on air
