This album was recorded after Joe and Mario's mother passed away. The whole sound is pretty different from the albums that came before it. You can feel their sadness at times. Gojira is one of the best metal bands going right now. The gift of guilt, Flying whales, and L'enfant sauvage are a few fantastic songs from them.
Gojira are very special, one of the best metal acts of the last 20 years. Their entire catalogue is filled with great songs, but for next reactions I'd recommend: Born in Winter, Gift of Guilt, Flying Whales, or Stranded.
Albeit not my absolute personal favourite, I truly and firmly believe Gojira currently is the best metal band in the world. You just feel it. If you do you do, if you don't you don't. They're unreal. Your videos are great, keep it up!
@Lauren Fazenbaker No doubt about the rest of the band, bud ey, there is no rush to improve vocally. Well okay, the sing was "something" in albums, so that was my wondering. Thanks.
@Lauren Fazenbaker why do Jinjer fans have to compare all the time? Thats why I don't like them as much anymore. Just stfu and listen to the music. Stop making it a competition.
Yeah, Gojira is an exceptional band with a unique twist in how they write songs and work with sound and rhythm. Definitely one of the great "new" surprisingly fresh bands. Sometimes I think it makes a clear difference if a band does not come from the US or UK. Many of the new, fresh and more unique bands come from countries like Canada, Ukraine or in this case France. (Maybe some from Germany, too... and of course: Scandinavia) It even makes a difference if they come from one of the big cities or more provincial areas. From my experience and personal observation, e.g. bands in Berlin often try not to miss a trend, compare themselves a lot to others. In provincial areas, they develop more independently from actual styles that seemingly are trending and can work on a more mature own style, where life is not as fast paced ... And of course: Great video, fun to watch! Keep them coming, ladies. :-)
The whole magma and volcanoes theme comes from the fact that their mother (who died during the recording of the album, as someone already mentioned in the comments) was Portuguese-descendant, originally from the Azores islands, which are volcanic islands. Calling the album Magma was their way of honouring their mother's memory but also a tribute to someone who played an enormous part in their musical and artistic upbringing.
The fact that Ari keeps consistently mentioning the bass in their reactions endears me to her more and more. Bassists don't get enough love. If you both like this style, check out the band Opeth.
I agree! Definitely check out Opeth. Every song takes you on a journey. Martin Mendez is a pretty good bassist himself. Jinjer, Gojira, and Opeth, to me, are some of the best metal music to come out in quite some time.
@@bizibetiko9778 here are some other bands that may interest you given your tastes. Check out Son of Aurelius, Animals As Leaders, Between The Buried and Me, Fall of the Albatross, Wings Denied, and Fallujah.
@@donchaffins1313 I do like Animals as Leaders. Even though they don't have a bassist... It's almost a sin. Tosin is a bassist at heart I think. He does some crazy stuff on that guitar, if you can even call it a guitar at this point. What an insane amount of sound they produce. Thanks, for the suggestions, I'll definitely check out the other bands you named.
An amazing band, one of a kind! You must hear more, like "Flying Whales", "Backbone (live at Red Rocks, with 'Remembrance" outro)", "Stranded", "Global Warming (live at the studio)", "The Heaviest Matter of the Universe", "Silvera"... so many hits!
The song Pray from the album MAGMA is much shorter. But here they made this extended version at the very end of their show and in this moment everyone from die-hard fans to rookies were brought together in the same musical and spiritual journey. I like really much how you guys look so transported by the music after just few minutes. Pray is definitely a good introduction to GOJIRA. I strongly recommend you to check first the song Gift of Guilt Live at Brixton Academy and second Where Dragons dwell live at Hellfest 2013. This later is definitely the most epic metal show ever captured. Anyway love your reactions! Cheers from France.
I was at this show and they absolutely crushed it! The full moon was rising behind behind Denver in the distance as that big "moon" on the screen was coming down. Also, I totally know what you mean about seeing metal in an amphitheater, but Red Rocks is the best venue on Earth, so it was still super fun. Check out their song The Gift of Guilt if you want to hear more of them.
I was at this show. I'm the one in the black shirt. LOL No, I really was there and I'll tell you the most impressive thing about Mario drumming shirtless is that it was probably in the mid-40's or so when they played this song. I'm sure the lights helped on stage, but it was getting cold.
Wow , that was an eye opener for an oldy, have never heard of the band and just took a random, they were awesome , will defiantly check more of their stuff out, thank you so much , keep up the great tunes.
Gojira are definitely one of, if not the best metal bands doing it right now. I would recommend checking out Flying Whales or The Gift of Guilt next! Also, fun fact, these guys are good friends with and have opened for Metallica a couple times. I say that since you mentioned seeing Metallica in the vid
It is definitely not just this song!! Mario often appears at the top of lists of todays best metal drummers and won Best Drummer from the Loudwire Music Awards in 2017! Gojira is my favorite metal band ever, was so psyched to see you react to them! Please do Flying Whales or The Heaviest Matter of the Universe. Love your reactions, keep it up!! Peace
Pumped you've found Gojira - they are the crème de la crème of metal, truly. This was an interesting choice of first track to react to - props. Their earlier work was much harsher/death metal inspired and they've grown their sound a lot over the years. Some live versions on YT are hit and miss (they're amazing live but the quality of videos differ) - trust the fans in the comments. Oh, and they're massive environmentalists - they music usually covers environmental and societal topics (pollution, Climate change, self identy, materialism, death, nature...). Here's my go to list for people experiencing Gojira for the first time - can't go far wrong with these: 3rd album: From mars to sirius - The heaviest matter in the universe - Flying whales - Where Dragons dwell (youtube: live at hellfest 2013 - a must see) - Global warming (youtube: live studio) 4th album: The way of all flesh - Toxic Garbage Island - The art of dying - Vacuity 5th album: L'enfant sauvage - The gift of guilt - L'enfant sauvage - Born in Winter 6th album: Magma - Stranded - Silvera - The cell / or / shooting star (live at bbc) 2nd album: The link - Embrace the world - Indians - Rememberance 1st album: Terra incognita - Space time - Lizard skin / or /clone - Love / or / blow me away (you)niverse
K-Pop is a good substitute for Metal if that's all someone listened to when younger, respectable. Right now is the best time to be introduced to metal, don't feel late to the game; my Mom was finally properly introduced to Metal and now, at nearly 70, Opeth is her favorite band.
I love you ladies and your reactions, I watched several over the weekend, and sometimes in the reaction videos LeAnn looks like she's in a hostage situation. I'm glad she really liked this one though. I would love to see more reaction videos where LeAnn picks a song/video to show Ari for the first time. But hey, this was a Patreon pick, so...yeah. Great reaction as always ladies, keep em coming! ~Be Blessed
Hahaha it’s definitely been an experience getting to know these different bands but it’s also been enjoyable! If you check out more of our videos most of the kpop and other pop videos are my picks😂😅Thanks so much for watching!! -LeAnn✌️
Playing metal drums, especially Gojira is an insane workout. The vocals were really hard to hear in this version, the studio version is much clearer, although it's also only like half as long, haha. I would recommend Toxic Garbage Island live at bloodstock next
Belle réaction lovely ladies. Stupid ads indeed. Very cool réaction ! Mario is one of the best drummers in the world. Gojira have lots of wonderful tracks, very melodic and interesting. Your mind should be blown away by some songs. The members of the band are madly humble and kind. Lots of songs about the environment, the meaning of life. They have few radio friendly tracks and some more complicated but still awesome.
Gojira is one of those bands that comes once in a generation. Like Metallica in their prime or Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath or Led Zeppelin. They’re absolutely incredible
It’s never to late to listen/love Metal. This list is but a small amount of bands & some of these bands transcend metal. 1980’s: Motley Crüe, Slayer, Ozzy Osbourne 1990’s: Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pear Jam, Type O Negative 2000’s: Opeth, Average Sevenfold, HIM 2010’s: Mastodon, Nightwish, Soulfly
Another great review Rock Warriors! Thanks for responding to my Maiden comment about Steve Harris. Now, I think you two need a funk break after all this heavy stuff. Please think about being the first to review Betty Davis. She's the lost Queen of Funk. Her story is insane. Hung out with Hendrix, dated Clapton, Married Miles Davis....Please try "Anti Love Song," by Betty Davis. Few know of her because she was too naughty for radio in the 70s, but she fits right in today! Be bold! Be the first! She will blow your mind! If you want to try her first before doing a review, another good one is "Don't Call Her No Tramp." Insane band and amazing vocals. Get funky for a minute. Big Love!
These guys are PROLIFIC. They are big environmental activists, which is close to my heart. You can't go wrong with any of their songs, but I recommend Oroborus, Flying Whales, Heaviest Matter of the Universe, or Vacuity. 😘

If you like Gojira, check Orbit Culture. Their album Nija is one of the best metal albums of 2020! It's been said that they have a mix of Gojira with a more intense Metallica, movie soundtrack parts and melodic death metal like In Flames. Gojira fans might like the 'At The Front' and 'North Star of Nija'

Gojira: World to come live 2010. This is another good song it isn’t heavy metal but it is great. This would be a better song to react to because there other songs are more heavy
As someone who’s seen dozens of shows at Red Rocks - the acoustics depends on two things: weather and the sound guy. The last two shows I saw were completely different. Mastodon sounded incredible, and Queens of the Stone Age sounded terrible. It’s a beautiful venue, but a mixed bag sound-wise.
While I love this song and this performance from Gojira, it's probably not the most ideal song to listen to for a first reaction. It's very different from their usual sound. They are easily one of the best modern metal bands to date.
Hello, I would like you to react to Gabriel Henrique - My Heart Will On Go, he has a beautiful voice and until then everyone who listens to him is moved. I don't know if you're going to read it, but if so, I'm very happy.
Bonjour MesDemoiselles xx ;) My today's suggestion is a song called "We Died In 2012", from the French Canadian band named "So-Fi": th-cam.com/video/rFwZcGmzNY0/w-d-xo.html
Ayayayayayyyyyye!!!!!!! There's no lead guitars in Gojira! Christian usually does the rythm, the basic riff, and Joe usually add some little extra notes, so called "fioritures", and yes Joe is the only vocalist. Are you bound to behave so childishly? Gojira is a metal band, exploring sounds and open to kinda spirituality and involved in environnement protection, and human rights defense. Joe writes the lyrics and the group composes the music. Mario and Joe mother was american, french dad.
Hello ladies, I'd like to suggest revisiting Babymetal! While, Gimmie Chocolate is a great song, I feel they have much more to offer! Their catalog is so diverse and for starters I suggest: BABYMETAL - Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night th-cam.com/video/8WBDiLMNZcE/w-d-xo.html MEGITSUNE OFFICIAL MV: th-cam.com/video/cK3NMZAUKGw/w-d-xo.html

Gojira is one of the best metal bands going right now. The gift of guilt, Flying whales, and L'enfant sauvage are a few fantastic songs from them.
would explain the "when you get to the other side please send a sign" in The Shooting Star.
Especialy on "Lowlands" (for the sadness)
Of blood and salt too
I think they're absolutely one of the all-time greatest metal bands.
The gift of guilt ~ live at brixton. It’ll blow your minds!

born in winter is an absolute must
Love stranded live from Pol’And festival. Great job ladies!
Stranded is my favorite Gojira! 😍
Albeit not my absolute personal favourite, I truly and firmly believe Gojira currently is the best metal band in the world. You just feel it. If you do you do, if you don't you don't. They're unreal.
Your videos are great, keep it up!
No doubt about it. They remind me of Pantera with how tight they perform. Brilliant.
No the great, but one of the most important probably.
@Lauren Fazenbaker Fear Factory (the singer at least) was pretty average in live back in the days, did they improve ?
@Lauren Fazenbaker No doubt about the rest of the band, bud ey, there is no rush to improve vocally. Well okay, the sing was "something" in albums, so that was my wondering. Thanks.

I was at this show. Still one of the best shows I have ever been to. Red Rocks is the greatest venue.
Omg that's awesome! Can only imagine how great that was...
The song Flying whales is their masterpiece you should give it a try.
All of their songs are masterpieces
Gojira fuckin TAKES you places man they are a master craft of prog and other integrated sub genres
The studio version of this song -- and every other live performance -- doesn't have that whole second part. This live version is special :)
