This is the single funniest episode of Nateland I have ever listened to. Breakfast saying "poim" and "poATry" and the boys just dying laughing, I almost drove off the road.
I got so happy when I saw this episode was over 2 hours. I was even more happy when I discovered the time was 25% filled with Dusty and Aaron laughing at Bop-Its “POetry”.
Thanks for reading my comment! It made my day! Yes, I was named after the season Spring. Everytime I have to introduce myself over the phone I've had to start clarifying by saying, "Hi my name is Spring, like the season." When I got married and took the last name of Whitney that got really confusing for people because it sounds like I have a first last name and a last first name. So explaining that at appointments over the past 16 years of my married life has been fun. My middle name is Robin, and Spring Robin was how my parents introduced me and most people who knew me since childhood will still call me Spring Robin. Its a fun little nostalgic moment when they do. Also, I almost deleted my comment on the last podcast episode because I realized that Brian has been picked on so many times and I never said anything about that. So sorry about that Brian! You really do accept the good natured kidding with so much grace. I learn a lot while listening to the podcast and how each of you react in certain conversations.
@@springcornavaca1147 Oh my goodness I've never met another Spring before! That's so neat! So glad I'm not the only one who has to introduce herself that way 😂
Y'all kill me! I was proctoring a state test, basically 2-3 hours of silence so I popped an earbud in and listened to the show. After Biscuits sent that Poy-etry I could hold it in. Had to apologize and save the rest of the show till after school. Love y'all! My favorite part of the week hands down!
Watching Dusty trying to hold it together, knowing he was going to break the second he looked at Aaron, was the HIGHLIGHT of the episode. I listen while at work but had to look at the screen during that second and tried to control my own laughter. Absolutely hilarious!
I NEVER EVER EVER want this podcast to end! It has been such a stressful year for me, and whenever I need to focus on something fun and laugh, I just listen to Nateland, and the stress dissipates if only momentarily. I only discovered Nate on SNL and have been playing catch up with the podcast ever since. I think I've finally listened to them all and now am forced to wait until each Wednesday, but it is always worth it! I'm SO PUMPED I already bought tickets to see Dusty in August in Raleigh and now I can't wait. Dusty might actually be my new favorite stand up (Sorry, Nate). I want to see Aaron and Brian too at some point, because all of you are hysterical! Had the chance to see Nate in Charlotte recently and he did not disappoint! Just want to say thank you to all of you!
I’ve grown to love Brian’s participation on the podcast so much. In the beginning he and Aaron were so timid and let Nate own them he majority of the talking but man Brian’s quips these days are so good!
If only they’d prerecord ad reads and he could just be in the pocket without having to worry about finding the right spot for an ad, he could be even better. Right now he’s like a parent coming in to say rumpus time is over every 5-10 minutes.
Dusty losing it at Brian saying poetry strongly reminded me of Aaron losing it when Nate said civilian station. It made my day! Keep up the good work guys!
You three guys always do a great job when left unsupervised. I love all the tangents and gigglefits Aaron and Dusty get on. This episode was pure p-WHOA-etry.
Although I’m a comedy fan, laughing out loud is something I don’t often do. If someone falls and injures themselves, sure you’ll hear me laugh uncontrollably, but not for much else. Brian’s pronunciation of “poetry” and Aaron and Dusty losing it really got me. Audible “haha”s and tears down my face. Now that was a good time.
All true about the ads. I have a slew of podcasts I listen to all week. The Nateland podcast is the ONLY podcast that I listen to and I’ve never skipped past any of the ads. You guys are the best!
As soon as Brian said “poy-etry” it shocked me and I stood in my kitchen wondering if I heard that right, and then the next 5 minutes of the podcast had me laughing so hard I was shaking, especially the Dusty background laughter. All the rest of my family was asleep at this time so I was trying so hard not to wake everyone with my laughter, but I just couldn’t hold it in. Keep up the great work and I definitely need to hear Nate read voila.
Watching Dusty and Aaron struggle to compose themselves while Flyin Brian was pronouncing prom and poetry was so funny to me that I was in tears at the end of that segment. Then, when I heard him first say “haiku”, I thought he sneezed at first. Y’all are awesome! Thanks for the many many laughs. Looking forward to seeing Dusty in Richmond at the Funny Bone. I’ll be at the first Saturday show.
Exceptional podcast today, folks! You guys really turn it up when Nate is absent. And ole Breakfast - has turned into a real zinger! Love ya guys. I look forward to Wednesdays.
Hello folks! I was driving to the airport at 4am this morning listening to the POD. I'm not gonna lie listening to Dusty and Aaron crack up over the way Breakfast says Poem had me in stiches. He says PO-EM like people say "Pro-Am" when talking about a golf tournament. Once I got to the office I had to watch it on TH-cam to see how hard Dusty and Aaron tried to contain their laughter on camera. Thank you for the laugh all the way up here in Alberta Canada
I just found this podcast recently after discovering Dusty and I love it. There is not many podcasts that I can sit and listen to for two hours straight but you guys make it easy. Love you all and your comedy.
I listened to this episode at work and the attempts to stifle my laughter got harder and harder with each time Breakfast said “poytree” and the guys (especially Dusty’s) laughs got funnier and funnier. Later in the episode when Brian clapped back at Aaron saying “No you’re just dumber’n I thought,” I lost it all together and got plenty of stares for my laughter without context. You guys make my day every Wednesday! Thank you for the laughs.
Great episode guys! The pod is well established as the 4 of you so when 1 or even 2 are out, whoever is recording is still Nateland. No other Podcast I watch has that ability. You guys are all 4 awesome!!! See ya next week. ❤
My stomach hurts from laughing so hard at the "poyem" piece. I felt like I was right there in the room with Aaron and Dusty when they were losing it every time Lord Byron mispronounced poetry and poem. Thank you fellas, I needed that!
Hello folks! I am a nurse in a trauma ER and I look forward to every Wednesday for new episodes. I LOVE the 4 of you together and it's such a fun thing for me to listen to and re-charge. Also, listening to Brian try to say "poetry" was soooooo funny.
As a retired English teacher, I was excited to see this week's topic would be poetry. I was especially interested to hear Dusty's take on Free Verse only to have my hopes dashed to pieces when his example contained meter, rhythm, and rhyme, the exact opposite of what true Free Verse really is. At least I was reminded why I retired.
Long time commenter, first time listener. I’ve actually been listening since the first episode and as much as I wanted to skip this episode because of the topic, I knew that these tend to be the best. I was not disappointed. Listening to Baklava mispronounce every variation of poem, while Aaron and Dusty tried to keep it together, never got old. Way to exceed the low expectations!
Hey bear! Seeing Aaron and Dusty get on Brandon Marlo’s case about how he says poems/poetry had me in physical tears. But don’t worry, Breakfast isn’t alone! My 2 friends have dedicated a book (a shared Google doc) to all the words I mispronounce along with how I pronounce them. One of the entries being “gratuity” and I pronounced it “gratitouille”. So Breakfast, say “poem” however you want!! Love you all, even when the kids are left unsupervised!
Oh my Lord. I’ve not laughed this hard in a long time. When Bibliomaniacal pronouns the word “ poetry” I lost it. I almost swerved off the road. Then he continued on to say the definition on poetry, I laughed so hard I started crying and couldn’t see while driving. Love this podcast….. well having a good time.
I think Brittle's reading of the definition of a poem is his best comedic bit yet. I teach preschool and was prepping to make play dough tomorrow. I now have flour everywhere as I was shaking too much laughing while I was trying to scoop. Thanks for making our Wednesdays always a good time.
This is the BEST kind of laughter! I don't think I've seen Dusty laugh this hard on the podcast and I can't watch it enough. Aaron and Dusty completely losing it reminded me of Jimmy Fallon and Bradley Cooper on the tonight show. I watch that clip whenever I need a pick-me-up, I will now do the same with this clip. Love you guys! It's ok Bellamy Bach, I know people who say it the same way, it's weird but we still love you 'matour poyim' people.
The way Brian pronounces poem is so much better than those who say “pome”. Brian… use your HR position… you don’t have to put up with that. 🦋 Also, the topic of poetry was excellent and I found the conversation enjoyable.
I listened to this podcast while on a 6 hour roadtrip and had tears running down my face listening to Brian say poem! Then he pronounced Hai KU and I lost it again! Brian you are a national treasure. Thanks for these long podcasts!! They definitely made my trip better!
I’ve had a lot of stress at work lately and hearing Dusty absolutely lose it at the way Brian says “Poetry” had me laughing so hard. It was just what I needed. Thank you for always putting out content that brings joy to the world.
I've never heard Dusty laugh so hard as when Breakfast said "poitry"!!! I must have watched the same 5 minutes of the pod 10 times, just to see it again. He and Aaron had me in tears!!
I remember some episodes back of a girl that commented on Dusty pronouncing things with a T at the end. Now I always listen for it. It is true. But I love the way Dusty talks so keep it up!
Just going to put it out there... Dusty's spotify playlist is A BANGER!! Put it on right after I was done with the podcast and it has been on for 6+ hrs.
After binging every episode I have finally caught up to present day, which makes me sad. I could listen to y’all all day, every day! That being said, do y’all have any other podcast or listening recommendations for us folks out here? Otherwise, I’m just re-visiting Nateland all over again. 😅
One of the best episodes for me... My favorite is Dusty losing it after Brian says "Po-uh-ee-tree" and then 10 seconds later tries to say he's fine but continues to gasp for air and cry for 5 minutes! I was crying in my truck driving.
48:10 Genesis is awesome, their 80’s stuff sounds dated now but their 70’s music with Peter Gabriel is magical. Ironically, regarding the question of why an artist would choose to go solo, what Dusty said is usually the case but it was actually the opposite with Phil Collins. Most of the music and lyrics in the band at that point were written by the keyboard player, and Collins wanted to try writing his own songs with a more straightforward pop style
When Brunch told the story of how he wrote a poem for his school’s basketball game, I don’t know what came over me but I had to pause and let out the biggest and longest laugh I have had since I started listening to the podcast a couple of years ago. Thankfully, I was by myself in the office.
For the William Carlos Williams poem, my professor taught us that the way the lines are set up with one word so awkwardly hanging off and breaking the line in a way which is not symmetrical or flow-y, and with the stark image of a red wheel barrow near some chickens, and don’t forget the opening line of “so much depends”, the poet is pointing out how, even trivial and seemingly “little” things in life hold a lot of weight in your own security and well-being. Sort of like how maybe you woke up 10 minutes late and now your whole day feels off, or you unexpectedly ran out of coffee in the morning and again your whole day feels off, in the grand scheme of things 10 minutes or no coffee can feel like minor issues but practically a lot of things depended on them. Another fun nugget is that, visually, the structure of the poem sort of reminds you of dominos or jenga where you may feel like if you took one of those one worded lines out, it would leave all the other lines to topple over. So even the poem depends so much on those one-worded lines. I found it fascinating! Because I agree, at first glance it doesn’t look like much of a poem.
Hey Guys! This was a hot show! Great topic! My stomach hurts from listening to Flyin' Brian pronounce poetry and poem. I can't decide which was funnier. And then Dusty and Aaron cracking up for like 10 minutes straight. Do you all ever tour together with Nate? Like a Nateland podcast on the road. We will be seeing Nate up here in London, Ontario, Canada in July at the Great Outdoors Comedy Festival. Why don't y'all come up for a visit? - Kim Gregorio
Who could have known that one of the very best clips ever from the pod wouldn't include Nate? I listened to the "poytreigh" clip on loop this morning while getting ready for work and my cheeks still hurt. Needless to say, my eyeliner is pretty crooked today but it's worth it for the laughs!
Tears from laughter is an amazing feeling. Who knew poy ems would be so hilarious. You fellas are the best!! (Nate is pretty good too!) Thank you for the gift of laughter.
Hey Bear. I had to change my comments because when Butter finger started saying Poem and Poetry I could not keep it together. I was at work laughing so hard I could not breathe. 🤣🤣😂
Sometimes the best part of the podcast is just watching Dusty and Aaron lose it and then you lose it too. Thank you for all the laughter and occasionally teaching us something along the way. See you in Grand Rapids Aaron!
I'm just now leaving the Honda Center after seeing the fantastic comics at Nate's show. Thank you so much for an amazing night filled with laughter! My friends who I had introduced to Nate's comedy were enthralled with the whole line up. Nate, you handled The Angels' fireworks like a pro! You all deserved the standing ovation we gave you!!!🎉
The cool part of the WCW poem is that the form has a function. If you read it closely, you realize the wheelbarrow has a flat tire. It's in the rhythm.
Thanks for the shout out! I have been listening to this podcast since it started 4 years ago. It was crazy to just be doing my dishes and then hear my name on it! I posted the joke that Aaron talked about on my channel if anyone is interested in what my anti-California joke was.
I know you like to keep things light, but I simply must pick a fight, You all say Po-em, just to annoy-em, Even thought Breakfast says it right!!!! ~ First time commenter but I felt such solidarity with Brian for the way he says poem (Poi-m) My husband and family make fun of me because I say it like breakfast and they claim I am the only one who says it that way. But now I know of at least one other. Po-em is pretentious and sounds as if you are disinterested and sounds like a sigh. Poi-m is quicker, one syllable and projects “I have got something important to say, let’s get to it” Keep up the good work. You have seriously improved my mental health. I am on my second run through of the series and will soon see Nate in San Jose in celebration of our 28th anniversary. Hey Bear! - MAK Kegelmeyer
I loved this episode! Brian, Aaron and Dusty are so funny when Nate’s not there. The whole poetry pronunciation conversation was hilarious. Of course I miss Nate when he’s gone, but I was lucky enough to see him this week in Sacramento! Thanks for wearing Kings gear at our show! Love you guys!
48:19 Dusty, you should try listening to Genesis’ 1972 epic “Supper’s Ready” which is an adaptation of scenes from the Book of Revelations, with lots of clever biblical references and imagery in the lyrics. Seems like something you’d uniquely appreciate 😉
Y’all. This is pure gold. I love it when all 4 of you are there for the podcast…but Dusty, Aaron, and Brian left without parent supervision is priceless. I lost my breath laughing at Aaron and Dusty trying to compose themselves when Brian introduced “poy-etry”. I cannot stop laughing 😂😂😂
I love you listening to you guys, with or without Nate. It’s nice to hear a little different flavor without your “boss” in town. I just saw Nate live for the fourth time moments ago. Once in Reno, twice in Vegas and this time in Sacramento. Keep up the hard work fellas. You’re so appreciated.
Y’all Dusty knows what is UP when it comes to food. He had me many episodes ago when he mentioned the donut gas station outside of Lexington, which is a must visit. He killed it last week on the food pyramid and now we get a Poe’s Tavern reference! Also, I’ve had the burger he mentioned with the crab cake on it and it does not disappoint. If Dusty wants to start a food podcast I’m here for it.
The last part of this episode was great. Loved hearing y’all riff about impactful lyrics! I remember Dusty a while back talking about Jim Croce. His song “Time in a Bottle” was about his unborn son, AJ. I saw AJ perform recently and he sang that very song at the end of his show. Mind blown. It was like a poem performing the poem. Thank you, Dusty, for sharing his stuff a while back!
Really loved hearing what music has impacted y'all lyrically. "People Get Old" has been on repeat for me for months now. It's so beautiful and bittersweet.
Thanks for the shoutout to Don Williams! My sister was named Amanda after his song. Dusty has the best taste in “real” country music. No matter how far away I am from my dad, a little Don Williams makes it feel like he’s in the passenger seat.
Hello folks. I took a coworker to lunch in my car and my phone continued to play the new episode from when I started it in the morning. Before I could change it, my coworker turned the volume all the way down and said "I don't want to listen to this." Not wanting to cause trouble I let her put on something else, but do y'all feel there is an edicuct to listening to podcasts in the car? Love the pod can't wait to see Nate in San Antonio!!
I feel like it's borderline harrassment at this point since I've sent this to the pod and Aaron before, but I can't resist putting my Nateland-themed sonnet on the "Poetry" episode. Love you guys! This is "Folklore": They gather round a box of Krispy Kremes- these men of theories, wheezes, whistles, rants- discussing fine ideas of scholar's dreams, like compost, gout, rogue squirrels and fighting ants. Four southern gents who never put on airs (no silver spoons but those beneath the couch), just talk the talk of good ol' folks and bears in honied accents as they vent and vouch. You're welcomed in with laughter loud and bright (although they may not say your name quite straight)- from the walk-in cooler, Aaron'll school you right, your laughs and love will not be lost on Nate, stick close to Breakfast Bates since he's the glue, and Dusty does indeed believe in you.
I love ya Nate but these eps where it’s just the boys are so much fun. They remind me of my school days when we would have a substitute teacher and any type of structure just went out the window.
Aaron & Dusty laughing at how hard Bathsheba came in on the word poetry is the hardest I’ve laughed in 194 episodes, somehow even beating Barry Sanders and Sore Sogrob
@Dusty - She and Him!! Also @Brian - I vote for a classical music podcast. I think you all need to play a soundbyte of Ode to Joy for Dusty. Thanks for the podcasts you all!
Dusty, twice you made me stop listening to the podcast and go listen to some old, nostalgic country tunes that brought me back to my childhood. I forgot how much I love the song “Trudy,” (The CDB was one of my FIRST live concerts!) and then when you mentioned Don Williams it brought me right back to traveling on the road with my Dad, listening to that smooth, deep voice. I had to go download his best hits. Next will be the Conway Twitty. He loved him too. Thanks for the memories!
Do you ever wonder what Nate’s take might be on topics when he’s gone? Don’t worry they’ll spend half of the next episode catching him up on everything previously discussed.
Listening in Japan and loving the way Buddha Bates pronounces "haiku." But nothing is funnier than hearing him say "poyim." Thanks for keeping me laughing on the other side of the globe! -Maureen
Podcast with the BAND Bargatze gets real busy Podcast is now BAD Seriously this is one of my all time favorite episodes! Thanks to all of you guys for making my Wednesday/Thursday drive to work the best!
I've heard many people pronounce "poem" the way Battalion does, but I lost it at Dusty and Aaron's reaction! I was laughing to tears the whole drive to work, and when I got there my coworker asked me if I was ok! 😂😂😂 I absolutely love these episodes where Nate is gone, so much more fun without Nate's picking on everybody!
These episodes without Nate always feel like three teenagers hanging out while their parents are out of town. Gotta love it!

I immediately thought Dusty reading a listener's comment regarding" Eeyore" was referring to Nate. :)
The way Brian pronounces poem is so much better than those who say “pome”.
Brian… use your HR position… you don’t have to put up with that. 🦋
Also, the topic of poetry was excellent and I found the conversation enjoyable.
A haiku about Nateland:
On Wednesdays we meet
Four minds to share some great laughs
Always a good time
"Poeeeem"...red faced laughter...why I lsten and watch every week.
I listened to this podcast while on a 6 hour roadtrip and had tears running down my face listening to Brian say poem! Then he pronounced Hai KU and I lost it again! Brian you are a national treasure. Thanks for these long podcasts!! They definitely made my trip better!
I love when the three of y’all do it together. It is like your dad left you unattended. I laughed so hard I cried!
I’ve had a lot of stress at work lately and hearing Dusty absolutely lose it at the way Brian says “Poetry” had me laughing so hard. It was just what I needed. Thank you for always putting out content that brings joy to the world.
This is THE BEST episode yet.
I’ve never heard Dusty laugh so hard as he did with Brian saying “poetry”
Love when the guys let loose when Nate’s away.
It’s crazy how much better Nate is at reading comments than all the others. Love the podcast
Love it when Dusty cracks himself up.....
He-he-he😂! Off the chain today! When the cat’s away. . . Love you all❤🎉. Miss you Nate!!
That's cool man, makes sense now
Thanks for the shout out!
My name is Carrie Lewis
48:19 Dusty, you should try listening to Genesis’ 1972 epic “Supper’s Ready” which is an adaptation of scenes from the Book of Revelations, with lots of clever biblical references and imagery in the lyrics. Seems like something you’d uniquely appreciate 😉
Haiku Submission:
Podcast with no Nate.
Aaron, Dusty, and Brine ROCK!
Smart, Creative, Loved .
As much as I love Nate, these eps with just the boys are my favorite. Great ep!
I love hearing Dusty laugh and seeing Brian smile ❤
Aaronland with the smooth intro 😂
Thanks for talking me through two extra hours of work! I like listening to the podcast!
This is "Folklore":
They gather round a box of Krispy Kremes-
these men of theories, wheezes, whistles, rants-
discussing fine ideas of scholar's dreams,
like compost, gout, rogue squirrels and fighting ants.
Four southern gents who never put on airs
(no silver spoons but those beneath the couch),
just talk the talk of good ol' folks and bears
in honied accents as they vent and vouch.
You're welcomed in with laughter loud and bright
(although they may not say your name quite straight)-
from the walk-in cooler, Aaron'll school you right,
your laughs and love will not be lost on Nate,
stick close to Breakfast Bates since he's the glue,
and Dusty does indeed believe in you.
This is great! They’d probably read it on the pod if it wouldn’t take Nate 40 full minutes to get through😂
I love ya Nate but these eps where it’s just the boys are so much fun.
Dusty and Aaron are hilarious together. I love it. Amazing. And B- you took the picking in stride. This episode is one of, if not, my favorite(s)!
This is the only podcast that I actually enjoy when the ads are read. (& I'm wearing Vuori right now, so somethings working)
Do you ever wonder what Nate’s take might be on topics when he’s gone? Don’t worry they’ll spend half of the next episode catching him up on everything previously discussed.
Dusty is the biggest asset on this podcast. imagine just him & Luis J Gomez together on this someday.. dynamic duo!
Listening in Japan and loving the way Buddha Bates pronounces "haiku." But nothing is funnier than hearing him say "poyim." Thanks for keeping me laughing on the other side of the globe! -Maureen
Podcast with the BAND
Bargatze gets real busy
Podcast is now BAD
Seriously this is one of my all time favorite episodes!
I absolutely love these episodes where Nate is gone, so much more fun without Nate's picking on everybody!
Listening to Dusty and Aaron laughing at Brian saying the word “poetry” was worth rewatching several times. Bet podcast yet! ❤
Nate is gone again
The guys have no direction
Somehow ratings hold
