    I can TOTALLY relate to the frustration of “but I could do that yesterday!”. I appreciate knowing that this may be ‘normal’ / something that may come up consistently. 😁 (smiling face emoji)

      @alishainc  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      literally yesterday! LOL but it's helpful having people out there relate so I don't feel crazy when I realize the change

    What a wonderful video, positive yet realistic about challenges. And what a great smile you have 😊 I see you put this out a couple of years ago, so I hope you’re okay now. From a 73 year old in the UK, just diagnosed with AMD and trying to get through these stages. Well done and all the best to you xx

    Spot on! I have RP so I can relate to all of this. I think you make a VERY good point that sometimes accepting the vision loss feels like giving up. Thank you, this perspective really did help me :)
    Oh and something I started doing was referring to my RP as a eye condition not a disease. It makes a massive difference mentally.
    Accept that you cannot drive anymore or stuff like that. Yes it sucks asking for help, especially if it's something really "small" and quick.
    Keep safe out ther

    one, the red looks awesome! I love that shade! I wish more people would use it. anyways, thank you so much for sharing! you really help me feel like I was normal. I am the only chronically ill person I know in my life and a lot of people don't understand why I have the emotions that I do and these are primarily the things that I go through plus a bit more obviously but, this is the best list I've seen of what goes on when you're losing your vision or for me it's vision loss and also my muscles and a few other things but, I thought this video was going to be in a different direction but I am super happy I clicked on it because it was definitely a video I needed to hear.

      aww thanks love a little red lip never hurt anyone lol
      I'm glad that you like how different the video and it resonated with you. It's extremely hard going through something alone when you don't know anyone personally you can relate to. Hope you continue to reach to content, communities, creators that can build you up and strengthen you on this journey. Stay blessed

    Great video Alisha as always. I'm so with you about the denial stage, I went straight there after my RP diagnosis. The loss of what could/should have been was and is overwhelming some days. I need to work on Gratitude, it's a journey. Loving the content ❣

      It is overwhelming thanks for sharing and being open with me. It's not easy to vocalize what we're going though sometimes it's scary how real it makes it

      Yessss, the only thing worse than the experience is discrediting the experince you gotta acknowledge the ebbs ad flows of vision loss. I'm happy you're doing that and I hope you are doing ok

      @@alishainc me too. I have been disabled my whole life and apparently my disorder means I could end up finding out I have this as well, my eyes have been getting worse my whole life and I have been told I am not a good candidate for Lasik... I have accepted it. She is newer to this world. Things you said in this are really relatable and feel so raw and real.

    Yep, it matches entirely, only the timing is different, cause I decided to choose a slowly creeping variant of Stargardt’s. Finally I reached stage 7, but what percentage of acceptance is hard to estimate, 100% definitely is a myth…

    • @alishainc
      @alishainc  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The stories you've shared, I feel like you have accepted it so much! I wonder if the slow deterioration gae you time to or made it harder to. It could either way.

    I'm feeling more than you said I mean I mean I'm always depressed I'm always feel sick I don't know what causes this but I just feels like there's a problem with my eyes and I'm finding not to go that stage being I just can't believe the life I want if I go blind😢 I don't know how can I achieve my dreams I'm trying to do all of things that can stop me from losing my eyesight😢

    • @alishainc

      Sorry to hear you have been feeling that way. It’s not easy and you may think it’s crazy to say but it’s good you are allowing yourself to acknowledge where you are at. It’s much better to feel whatever your feel rather than suppress and neglect.
      You can still find peace and love a good life. It’ll take me time and effort I can’t lie. You can still make a life you enjoy. Take it moment not day by day it’s sometimes to much for that (honestly I know it’s harder some days).
      Remember you’ve made it this far. Stay blessed.

    I'm 67 suffered glaucoma in 2021.. I don't feel any symptoms I thought ageing just blur visions.. then one day I got a flu after 2 days I suddenly felt severe pain in my right eye.. due to pandemic which make visiting to doctors not that easy accessible anymore.. I've waited for days before I had my eye check up.. I was diagnosed with glaucoma .. eye drops were prescribed but days go by I noticed that Im beginning to lost my eyesight .. just a matter of months my right eye go completely blind

      Im 68 and was diagnosed with glaucoma in 2020 … ironic, right?! My right eye is much worse than my left and Ive probably lost 40% of my vision in that eye. Just trying now to keep my left eye as healthy as possible.

    All that. Especially the acceptance. It's like there's no closure with Stargardt. No "new normal" b/c there's always a "new normal". Frustrating.

    I’ve been told I have macular degeneration (but not how long until my central vision will be gone). I think I hopped straight to shock and I’m still there 😅. Ok I’m gonna go blind but when? will I actually? what will change? will my life goals have to die? etc

    • @alishainc
      @alishainc  ปีที่แล้ว

      I know it's super weird when they can't give you a definite answer. You will be best trying to take things moment by moment. goals don't have die, more so reframe
