Thanks this worked great,I did lose one of the springs but I had an old dewalt and pulled the spring from it and did not have to do any adjustments to the spring it fit perfectly, thanks to your video I got my drill hold bits again.
You need to send this to Milwaukee, you solved a 3 year problem. Clearly the factory standards for these springs need to be more thoroughly maintained. QC is not doing a good job. I bet alot of springs come out bad to the assembly lines and that assembler does not understand hes sending out a defective tool by using bad springs.
@R-77 to Milwaukee? That sucks, I really like Milwaukee, I had a radio that lasted 20 years, my last impact lasted me 7 years of extreme abuse, I also had good results with Rigid, rigid lacked the power of dewalt, makita, and Milwaukee. I would recommend Makita if your done with Milwaukee, we used all makita in the union here on the jobsites I worked on in Chicago and the sububs. I was impressed by the power of makita, the durability too, every so often we would have a brand new makita come out of the factory defective, then a simple return solved that problem. Looks like Milwaukee needs to hire this guy so they actually fix the engineering defect.
Christopher TheCarpenter Makita makes great tools, they design impact driver collet with double ball bearing, that’s why Makita doesn’t have this kind of problem, Milwaukee designs it with just only one ball bearing, but the tools are also good.
@@yeetrue1 overall makita is great, I like much about makita, especially the power. On all of our Union jobsites we primarily used makita so that says something there. I own alot of Milwaukee tools and really like their line, its unfortunate Milwaukee does not address certain issues and go that extra step adding additional ball bearings as makita did, I would recommend that extended warranty for all tools as I have seen a few makita tools get smoked the same day after unpacked from the box. I guess its preference but at the end of the day I think it's safe to say that makita and Milwaukee are the best, I'm not a fan of black n decker dewalt, and certainly would not want to downgrade the tools to Ryobi or craftsman.
I attempted this repair but found the spring metal was extremely brittle, and broke off chunks rather than bending. Replacement parts are still available for a few dollars, though
you can find in your local hardware store or any store which can supply you bearing, they will always have ball bearing for sale, or you can order online from Aliexpress
Very well done. Kudos to you for your dexterity - small parts handled flawlessly while never losing camera frame and focus.
Was able to fix mine because of you! Thanks man!! Btw I’m switching to rigid next time this thing breaks LOL

Great video! Fixed the collet on my m18 impact that I bought off Ebay for cheap. Thank you very much
Werner Herzog? You truly are a well-rounded filmmaker!

What do you suggest…¿ two balls or remove the spring¿
Either the small steel sphere in the quick change collet and/or the bit shank is worn out of tolerance.

Does anyone know if the ball bearing from the og impact driver can work in the new fuel my ball bearing shot out on the job
No ma...they should take back all their shit and fixit for free..period,.When i pay for a toll i expect a 100% fucntional tool...
The Porter Cable impact has the same issue as do Dewalt
Does the M12 surge suffer the same thing?
I don’t think so, surge anvil is different
@@yeetrue1 thank you
I was told it was only m18 gen. 3. I do know none of the brushed impact drivers have the problem.
Where can I buuy the ball bearing?
you can find in your local hardware store or any store which can supply you bearing, they will always have ball bearing for sale, or you can order online from Aliexpress
great video, thank you!!!
I saw this fix on another video and after the fix it was tested and the bit still fell out when trying to back out..fix doesn't work
My snap ring just spins. Sending mine in for repairs, I dont have your level of patience for this ://
This fix is good but I can’t find myself to pay money for a defective product their company sells to the public.
Yes man
Just took it back to home depot to have it exchanged. This is bs
