The chibi sprites are such an underlooked part of feh, the massive improvements from book 1's "static" sprites to now every sprite being wholly unique and including little details like idle animations, special animations, killing animations for leg/myth/emblem etc and the kind of charm of seeing all these characters in such an artstyle. Im still surprised there isnt some kind of gamemode where you can manipulate the sprites to create your own "scenarios", basically heroes' journey but with complete player freedom.
I used to talk about this. I feel people talk too much about art, but never about chibis. Chibis feel the most "alive", and they're what best represents the game to me. They're the most memorable, in terms of "graphics", and they always were.
And it's kind of sad we all fall into turning off animations at the end of the day, with how much effort that went into giving these little creatures personality.

What I like about feh is the game play transition from their home games and easter eggs they throw into units. Sigurd's game is dominated by cavs so make him a cav with +1 mov, he also died in his game so make him look like a holy spirit in his legendary alt. Edelgard in Azure Moon turns into a demonic beast and is able get another action, make her into a beast unit and allow her to make an extra action in her fallen alt. It's been like this since forever. The pegasus sisters attack twice if near flier allies referencing triangle attack, Dedue is Dimitri's shield so make him an armor unit and make him come with savior, Nemesis is strong when the 10 Elites are alive so make him reduce damage when his allies have enough health. I could go on and on with the references but as a "game designer" seeing how the feh developers bring a unit from their home games and fit them into feh is so cool. From outfits, skills, stats, forging bonds, voice lines, and animations its fascinating seeing the characters come to life. Makes me appreciate the game much more than just focusing on the meta

FEH taught me a whole hell of a lot about gacha game design and monetization; a lot through negative examples, but they have some really cool ideas!
The big thing about the art for me is that it is so full of character, but then again, that is what happens when you pay professional artist to draw your characters instead of having a few in-house designers do everything. And then there is the voice acting. In a world with (big Gacha) games like 'AFK Journey' and (edit: possibly, no real evidence just a lot of jank) 'Reverse 1999' which use AI Voices (and it shows with how horrendous the voice acting is, especially in AFK Journey) I have grown to really appreciate that FEH is still actively pulling, adequately paying and crediting voice Actors. And not just big ones, but also smaller up-and-coming ones. It really feels like they put a lot of love and thoughts into the characters in every step, which makes me really appreciate FEH a lot, even if the game has been really mean to me lately.

Long answer: There is a lot pointing to it:
-A lot of the characters have very weird and static inflections. Which would not happen unless you cast newbie actors and don't give them any context or direction. Which I don't think I have to explain why that would be bad, albeit in a different way.
-Some characters pronounce words completely wrong and it's usually seemingly not based on their accent (Prime example: Sotheby pronouncing 'tripled' as is using triple the amount as 'traipled', as if she used the word 'tripe' as a base, while no other voice line would suggest her doing that or not having a good enough grasp of the English language.)
This could also be explained by a lack of voice director actually catching these obvious mistakes or by it direct insistence, but either way, NDAs (would) prevent us from knowing anything about the process. [Which is were I will add that the fact that we don't know anything about how the voices were recorded (or how many, as it could also just as easily be that they paid VAs for a couple of lines and then replicated the rest) makes it really difficult to argue either way]
-There is zero VA credit given in the game (unless they have added them since I stopped playing) which usually points to the creators not wanting to disclose it, which is already garbage enough on its own (credit your Artists), but generally is done to not having to disclose that some voices were done (even if only partially through replication) by AI.
And most lists I could find were predominantly Japanese voice actors, but very little English actors (or are inconsistent to each other), which is weird, to say the least, but VAs are often forbidden by NDAs to disclose the details of their work, so it could just be an unfortunate combination of events.
-(This one is personal) Pretty much all the characters use very stereotypical accents. Which means, if they actually used voice actors, they paid people to do stereotypical (and sometimes worse) voices, which I never wish on any voice actor to have to go through. (It's also not a good look in general)
So yeah, no real evidence, but a lot pointing to it. But I think to remember seeing some voice actors taking credits for certain characters, so it's definitely not all of them.
So TL;DR: could be terrible handling of the Devs, but it feels like there is something going on, but thanks to NDAs, we might never know all the details. But I would be more than happy to be proven wrong. But even if they didn't use AI, I can definitely see why I thought so. (Credit your artists!)
Though what they definitely did is machine translate the script, since that is the only real way to explain how bad it is, but that is less terrible of a practise.
FEH was the game that got me to love all aspects of FE, sure this game has tons of bullshit at times and it gets frustrating. But as a day 1 player who hasn’t missed a single day in now year 8, I’ll always be grateful to FEH to let me know of all I missed and got to be a part of.
I started with Fates, played FEH almost every day since Day 1, and in 2017 alone I became acquainted with every game before Fates.
FEH's not perfect, but too many of the playerbase is doom and gloom about it these days, so I too am glad you're putting out some positivity about the game

I'm glad FEH gave Florina enjoyers more content even if it just her being Lyn's best friend or Lyn's best friend but she wants to be more confident which they did with the Duo and Ascendant.
Meanwhile some characters get more time to shine or time to even exist in the case of Kronya. I still can't believe 3H fumbled everything.
Florina is my favorite fe character and it's always great to see her get so much love.
The fun thing about FEH is that theyre a lot of F2P units from GHB or Tempest Trials that are fun to build from. Just +10’d Mauvier and i am planning to build him.
If it eases someone's mind, given that this is fully Nintendo, I like to think we're probably going to go into a sundown mode of sorts like Mario Kart Tour or Mario Run, so we'd still be able to finish bulding our favorite Heroes.

I gotta be honest: This video was much needed, and I have to admit with all the negativity I've held towards the power-creep, the boring and redundant character picks for alts, the stinginess of IS when it comes to orbs... There's a lot of good that DID come from this game too. For me, getting to have playable characters in NPCs I liked or felt had a LOT of character potential felt so exciting. I remember when Mustafa was announced for the Awakening banner in Book 4, I was so shocked but hyped for it, because I liked Mustafa's character, as brief as his appearance was. There's other characters too like Rinea, Marla and Hestia, Phila, etc. And like you mentioned, characters from previous games now getting full voice lines was awesome. Lots of Sacred Stones characters got REALLY good and fitting casting picks (Gilliam being played by Reagan Murdock, Cormag being played by Brad Venable, RIP). And yeah, most (Except Book 7 in my opinion) of the FEH stories and OCs were very decently written, enough that I felt the characters were compelling; I genuinely have grown fond of Alfonse and Sharena, I like Henriette a lot and I'm intrigued by the mystery behind her character, and there's a good chunk of the other OC characters that have made an impression on me (Helbindi, Lif and Thrasir, Hel, Reginn, Letizia, Embla and Askr, and now Ratatoskr and Nidhogg).
I've always loved FEH ever since I really got into it.
I know people complain about overpowered units, but it's never been something that's bothered me. I know I'm not going to win every single AR, or SD. And that's kind of the point. Someone has to lose. I everyone always won, then who is the one you are beating? I also realized that I did have a way to beat them, but the team and strategy I brought wasn't going to work.
Knowing this, I still have a lot of fun with those modes. Especially when I'm able to beat players who are using said overpowered units with "weaker" ones.

I think a topic many people don't touch upon is being introduced to characters from games you never played! Like i started FE with Sacred Stones and i never played the Tellius games. I played Awakening, Fates, Echoes, 3 Houses and Engage. But all the other games I've never played, so being introduced to the Tellius characters, the Judgral characters, Shadow Dragon etc gave me some of my favorie characters despite never playing their respective games. I think that's pretty major!
FEH was the game that got me into playing Fire Emblem. I vividly remember downloading it during the 2nd Three Houses banner just to get Petra, and now I play it nearly every day and invite my friend to watch the trailers. This game has been a lot of fun, and I genuinely love that this was the start of my Fire Emblem journey.
As much as there is to complain about, there is some stuff about the game I think is really cool
I genuinely love the skill inheritance system. Even though things end up getting "optimized" and you see the same builds over and over, the concept of mixing skills from different units together to make your own set of them is amazing. And it means you can improve your older units who are falling behind.
I saw a tweet recently about someone's Resplendent Lucina being able to defeat (or at least survive) the newest Micaiah, which is insane because Resplendent units usually get that status as an apology for the unit being old, weak, and hopelessly powercrept.
They even brought a variant of the system into Engage, which I really enjoyed.
One of my favorite things from this year alone is how they localized Kagetsu’s Forging Bonds event, since the whole thing is meant to be one big VA joke. It’s especially prevalent in his S-Support.
The thing I probably most appreciate about FEH is how generous it is for a gacha game, at least from the standpoint of a casual player. Most gachas will release maybe 2 or 3 new characters a month with maybe 1-2% chances of getting any new unit. Meanwhile, FEH will consistently release 2 banners a month presenting 4 new units each, with each banner having a 5% chance to get 1 of the 4 units as a 5* at the bare minimum.
And yet, despite that, it also has a really generous spark system, with anyone consistently being able to save enough orbs to spark for a single unit so long as they save orbs for a month. I’ve played a couple other gachas with the same level of resource managing as I would FEH, and the rate at which you get in-game currency and how much in-game currency you’d need to spark feels so dreadfully long in comparison that I just don’t bother saving. Sure, not every banner is spark-able without FEH pass, but one banner I can consistently get a 5% of my choice on a month is better than none.
Err… the spark system ain’t great though. It only applies to very specific banners and you have to pay money to use sparking on limited banners. Other games don’t do that (well the good ones don’t).
I wanted a Fire Emblem game on my phone as soon as they were a thing. It’s such a rare case of getting what I wanted that once I got over the pay to win aspect I enjoyed it the way I knew I would. When the game ends I hope they leave us with a playable version of one of the old games as a gift. We’ve more than earned that at least.
FEH has been one of the most generous and enjoyable Gacha games I’ve ever played, trust me I’ve played a ton of Gacha games, Ascended Camilla was the first time I’ve spent money on the game with feh pass and I’m definitely content with that purchase. (Even if I only wanted to subscribe for a month) I’m really happy with this game despite some of the negatives.

Day one player. I love Fire Emblem series and I love FEH so much. It became an important part of my life for the last 7.5 years. I kind of dread the day it reaches EoS. I will lose that joy that FEH brings to my life. I don't like gachas as well (I play another one but just for the same reason as I play FEH: it's based on another if my favourite game series and I doubt it'll live for long), so I'm not sure I'll play another one when FEH ends. Unless they make FEH2 ahaha, but I heard that many of FE enjoyers won't be playing another gacha, because they're tired of FEH for life which is understandable.
3:31 In a similar vein, it was FEH that turned me into being an Iago stan. Before I thought ‘well he sure is a villain in fire emblem fates’. But stuff like his interestingly gimmicky prf, his dialogue with the summoner (see his lvl 40 confession where he goes “hey if you ever wanted to take over the world someday I’d be down to help”), and Brave Claude talking to him in Forging Bonds had me actually liking this Saturday morning cartoon bad guy of a FE villain
Another positive thing I'd like to add is that for this game you don't really have to go meta to enjoy it. The PvE content keeps getting updated with new chapters and enemies to challenge you and use your unit builds and not having to depend necessarily on what others are running. There are gacha games whose identity is JUST a PvP P2W (Summoners War comes to mind), and FEH does SOOOO much more than that. For Fire Emblem fans, FEH is a treat I dare say 😊
I'm also a Day 1 player, and I'm here to this day, even if I never cared for AR or Arena all that much. I have plenty of fully built units, even though I'm basically a "casual" at this point. For the last year and a half+, I've fluctuated way more into Genshin Impact, and now Honkai Star Rail. Heroes was my introduction to "gachas".
And much like yourself, I came because I was an FE fan. It's like I forgot the beauty of actually giving these characters voices, especially some of my favourites of the older games.
And after all that, you've reminded of us of the possibility that this game might end one day, and it was pretty sad to me. Even though I'm way more detatched to it right now, it still gets to me, because I've spent over 7 years playing this game.

Disagree chief, any new account can get broken shit whjch is lime a chimp with a machine gun and the longer you stay the worse it gets. This games f2p is nothing but an illusion of bullshit
. It's not new player friendly with compounding text , famine orb summons unless you are making new accounts. The only pro was them kind of ditching the stamina system god was that annoying a while back.
First gacha I ever played was Ayakashi Ghost Guild and that got shut down before main story finished. Then I played it's spiritual successor, Otogi Spirit Agents and that got shut down after the story concluded but It's back but I think it's not releasing new content. Regardless, I've been playing FEH since the beginning (I remember signing up for it when it was announced). FEH has been a relatively enjoyable game for me with only a few things dealing with the main story, some voting results, some alts and apparent waifu bias, really getting me upset with it. But overall, unless I go back to Pokemon Masters or Go, this'll probably e the only gacha I play.
Ooohhhh, a video about the history of voice actors and how some of them changed when characters got alts would be kinda dope.

I've been in and out of this game over it's lifetime. It's a good comfort game for me. I'll be sad when it's finally gone.
I think the game isn’t far off from getting closure, such gacha games tend to not get support beyond 8 years in service because they can’t support it forever, best case scenario it gets an offline version where the gacha aspect is gone but the rest is still there for preservation sake but it’s Nintendo so who knows what they will do.

I like Heroes because its probably giving a lot of people a steady and paying job.
The problem is the cost benefit analysis, because it’s hard to realize what you put in, and it’s really arguable what you get out.
I mean there’s other games with original characters that have good designs and personalities that actually have good stories for one.

As someone who played at mid book 2 (then lost data due to not linking) then returned at early book 3, I really loved this game (still do).
The game had its highs and lows, and the fact that some characters will be in the game still makes it interesting
...unless you're Renault (?), that bishop from near endgame of FE7 who was literally made to be forgotten xD
The best thing by far in FEH is fallen heroes. Specifically, fanart of Grima being forced to be a parent to cute little dragon children.
The actual in game interaction with the evil heroes not allowed to kill anyone is fun too.
I love Heroes and kinda hope that Alfonse and Sharena make there way to the main games. Especially Alfonse!
I would like to thank FEH for jumpstarting my gacha addiction back in 2017.
But honestly FEH has a lot of good art for characters that I really wished got more attention in the main series.

I just like to think that because we have a hero tracker, and legendary and mythics are scheduled into the far future. Like stuff returning next year, even going through half next year so far. If that is an indication of current lifespan then we have at least some sort of roadmap until then. Book 9 is probably in the works right now. 10 years of FEH will be a huge milestone to get to.
We could be worse, we could be Pokemon masters, where 1 out of 3 new units never return, unless you use copious amounts of real money. And some of them never return in any form, with no indication that they are time exclusive
Worst of all, it takes you at least 2 months to gather enough summoning currency to have one spark summon. So too bad if you missed the never-returning units from one month. And pray that in the next month you pulled the one that will never return instead of the one that you will see every month
And the gameplay is good, which is why I continue to play it, but the summoning system is so infuriating. Even FEH with its FEH pass exclusive features is not as bad as that.
I prefer Pass-less FEH summoning so much more than that abomination of a system
Started playing bc of my love for fire emblem. Still playing bc i can use my fav character whose non playable rhea. I hate 3 hopes so when feh ends im gonna be sad not having a way to play her...
The one thing I will always appreciate about FEH is giving new art to the many characters in this game. It’s so nice to get art even from the most obscure games/characters that never made it to the West. Kudos to all of the artists who worked on FEH, even to the artists whose art I don’t like.

I've been playing since year one brides. It was genuinely my introduction to fire emblem bc I saw a friend playing it and adored Eirika's design. My favorite character in the fire emblem franchise is Sharena and whenever the game gets taken down I'll be sad bc I'll be losing my favorite character. I play heroes because it is a fun fire emblem story, even if I don't enjoy every character and storyline.
Also I cherish it for introducing me to one of my favorite game franchises. Were it not for Heroes I would not be a fire emblem fan!

Were the concepts and quality of this transferred to a single player game, I think a good 90% of my issues would disappear. There are so much fun ideas in this game, but it existing within a gacha is the problem. The decisions they make to lure players into spending, such as the direction they head in with powercreep, make it difficult to appreciate those really good things about the game. The ideas and themes in the story are cool, but they are rarely explored in any meaningful way beyond a surface level. All the different styles of artwork are incredible, but it is locked behind the main concept of a gacha and certainly wouldn't exist in a single player game. It's all really unfortunate greed is the main reason we cannot appreciate these things as much as we would like to.
look at live service: final fantasy 14, destiny 2. they add expansions to their base game. in fire emblem, we are on EIGHT expansion of game. most mobile games like squares enix shut down in 2-3 years. i feel we have with fire emblem heroes 2 more years before they make FEH 2. where we starr fresh.

I feel if they run out of characters to put for new banners they should add some of the cipher characters like the four Cypher characters from echoes since we haven’t seen any other representation of them besides their cards and the game they came in, so I think that would be a great change of pace And maybe even do some crossovers with other video games. After all it is a Gacha game so it would make sense to have a crossover or two.
I wouldn't have discovered Fire Emblem series without Heroes, though I'm upset by the game's lack of advertisement.

i wish rearmed whatever whatever heroes were like actual continuations of the initial hero's summon in the story yknow? ik some ascended were like that tho but why not more of these alts? instead of "oh hey askr has 49 sothes!" to "sothe has changed and adjusted to life here, with a new dagger crafted just for him" idk i feel like its a small complaint but i get tired of characters who have been in the game for years being like "wow this place is crazyyyyyyyy" in forging bonds first convo. i like these alts and just wish they were more meaningful for the characters that get them.

Despite its many flaws, i hold Heroes close to my heart for many reasons.
It is the first gacha game i decided to pick up. Not an entirely relevant reason but i also picked it up for being Fire Emblem before it being a gacha game.
The new character representation is fantastic. Not only the art variety of all these artists contributing but also them giving new and revised designs to characters like the Shadow Dragon cast or the Genealogy cast but also the characterization and the voices/voice lines that a character gets helps elevate what we previously thought of them (i used to not care for Travant but his art and incredibly compelling voice lines and voice work have made him a personal favourite unit in Heroes).
The whole ascended, Legendary, Brave, etc; gimmick just helps so much in realizing what a character is and giving a glimpse into some "What Ifs" that enrich a certain character. E.G. Joshua deciding to be a king or Fir becoming a swordmaster. I like a lot of those details
The seasonals are also funny AF, as well as firing my neurons when we get a unit like Summer Laegjarn. I just like both sides and is great when a character i like gets a new alt and, maybe, another playstyle.
Heroes also helped me in finding my waifu. I always liked Felicia but more of her through this game is what made me set my mind on her. Silly reason but am not about to deny it.
Despite its flaws, i still like Heroes quite a bit. It also helps that it is fairly casual so is not a gacha that consumes to much of my day and time. Just a quick 30 mins or less and am done for the day.
It really is a great thing and am definetly gonna be sad when it inevitably goes away.
I just enjoy playing. That hasn't changed ever since day 1. I love seeing the new art, voice lines, Forging Bonds (my favorite mode by far), and brainstorming and figuring out how to optimize units (even if I don't actually have the fodder to do it) is one of the most fun parts of the game for me. Hell, seeing new skills added and how they interact with other skills and effects and genuinely entertaining to me. Powercreep ironically keeps the game from ever being boring to me in that regard. A LOT of the things that seems to piss everyone else off just doesn't get to me. I have my own criticisms, of course, but none that could get me to stop playing entirely.
FEH is the reason I started playing other FE games (Thracia, Genealogy, Binding Blade etc.)

Yes, there is a lot of bullshit but there is enough bullshit to counter other bullshit that at the top level it’s super fun.
Got into the game 2 years ago so I had time to build up my account and skill level before the game got super powercreep heavy. Wonder how it would be like if I started fresh?
I mean new plays do get 3k orbs worth from story, paraloges, etc. so if they spend it right they can catch up really fast!
At the end of the day, feh competitive really tests your mindset. If you have a growth mindset than this game is gonna be easy for you 🔥
FEH has been the best thing that Fire Emblem had. For a IP not as popular as Mario, Zelda or Pokemon, it keeps being relevant for Nintendo since it has been such success unlike the others shutted down Nintendo mobile apps (RIP Dragalia Lost). And I feel this game will be operating for so many years and while Nintendo keep greenlighting new Fire Emblem games, FEH will live.
I played a lot of FE games before the release of FEH and thanks to FEH, I started to care of characters that I wouldn't think I would like
Honestly i always thank Feh for letting me grab a character i like throw skills at them be happy, it really fuels my favoritism
Well, it is understandable to not like this game for its power creep, monetization etc. This game does provide a lot of benefits for the series and the community old characters being re-introduced to the community with new updated art, voice, actors, character interactions, even if it is in forging bonds hell even the feh comics also added to it as well.
Honestly for a gacha game. It is pretty generous with the amount of free stuff you get. Also helps that a majority of units that are dropped nowadays are good without invest due to the skills
Funny, but i get into Fire Emblem serie from this game, because i just wanted solid heroes based game in my phone, not one of this mindless gacha autobattlers. Later i go into lore, really love listening characters and learn stiff about them, even have some favourites on my own: like Claud/Dimitry, Kagero, Benny, goat mommy what name i always forget, Ryoma, Loki and so on. Very fun and relaxing game with tons of fanservice in different appearances. Kind of like ritual what helps me fell asleep at this point.
Just hope they finally release some alts for my girl Orochi at least:(
Fire emblem is always about the characters, and FEH struck gold with its premise. That’s probably why new heroes are my favorite banners, since it gives characters a chance to shine and gradually shrinks the roster of characters absent from the game

Fire Emblem Heroes was my second Fire Emblem game. For two years, I've been addicted to the game, and I didn't regret it. And can you believe this whole thing started, all because I got associated with the series through maining my first two favorites, Lucina and F!Corrin, in Super Smash Bros.?
Without FEH I wouldn’t even be into FE. Before this came out I’d only played Blazing Sword, and I never would’ve known my two favorite FE games (FE4 and 5) even existed
For every Ayragate, 5* locked unit that should be demoted, Duo Ephraim, Fallen Edelgard, ARD L!Sigurd, and Emblem Ike, there’s at least 3 great things FEH has given. Reinhardt and Gatekeeper get to become community icons. Characters that are otherwise pretty forgettable like them or Norne get a spotlight for some random trait they have. And by gacha standards, FEH is pretty dang generous (low bar)

We finally got more Hrid ofc the game isnt dead 😂 honestly i put it down for years and have had more fun casually bias builiding and learning new lore.
Feh isn't fun for me anymore and I'm happy I finally deleted it, but I'm happy that the game is still going if just so I can see cool new art for characters I like.
We hated the game for bad luck that we forgot why we liked it in the first place... :'(
Read a biography and not understand anything, build a unit that will be useless in 2 months, the only good thing is to use your favorites.

This game is certainly not a saint, and some of the recent decisions made have been… Far from Ideal (I am not over Merged Ordeals nope…) but there’s been so much doom posting in the community lately and it’s been tiring…

Fire Emblem Heroes got into the mobile game market at an incredible good time but now the gacha market is dominated by Hoyoverse.
I think that Fire Emblem Heroes does more money than Engage at this point.
The only reason I could see them putting down the game is when they decide that it’s better to realocate the resources in the next project.
Engage could be so much better if they only focused on the game at the time but they were working on heroes, advance wars and now this year they worked on paper mario.
Nintendo could very well say that if by the time the next game release they dont see an increase in revenue, goodbye feh.

I also don't think the so called "bad" moments were ever really present- yeah, the powercreep in this game is dogshit, but that's about it. It's not as bad to me, that it'd ruin my experience of it. In the last two years or so, I learned that you can basically use powercreep in your own favour instead.

Hehe it's funny you mentioned Brigand Boss being fun, when community fucking hates him and still makes fun of him till this day. But I agree, he's great and my only invested axe + speed infantry.

I actively dislike summoning tbh.... AR-O, AR-D and when I have the time SD are whats keeping me in the game. I wish we had more challenging game modes and I wish those weren't on as strict a schedule but oh well...
Having said that Lyon, Ike and BoL4 have, for the first time, really tanked my enjoyment of the gameplay
Do you spend on summoning? I wonder if people who dislike rolling are the ones who give money to IntSys for orbs or the f2ps. Cause as a former spender, I've found my enjoyment of it to be inversely proportional to the amount of $ I pay for orbs
