    As a cowboys fan i already knew from the first quarter wat our problem was ,it was our Dt's,they got pushed around like little kids ,they couldn't take double teams,no penetration, all of sudden u now have big lineman on linebackers running down hill.We also saw that in the colts game.This was just a bad matchup ,theres one weakness in the defense and coincidentally the rams were the perfect team next to the colts to expose it.

  • @shanthinutheti8689
    @shanthinutheti8689 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    The DTs for the cowboys is their one weak spot on the defense and the rams had the perfect game plan to exploit it. Vander esch and smith had offensive lineman in there faces all day long. The saints loss of Sheldon rankings to an Achilles injury is huge because he was an incredible DT that was a major contributer to the saint’s exceptional rush defense. It is fair to say that the saints are now more vulnerable in the interior of their defensive line and I could really see the rams take advantage and do what they did to Dallas. I wouldn’t be surprised if C.J. Anderson and Todd Gurley dominate on the ground.

    This is a really great video, the only nitpick is that a lot of the 'Outside Zone' Runs are more like Mid Zone. The difference is the OL is drive blocking, and not really reaching, so it's more like inside zone run to the C gap instead of the B Gap. You can see this in the first clip, where the front side tackle isn't reaching the DE but just pushing him outside. The Rams don't run a lot of traditional 'Stretch' outside zone with everyone reaching and running, afaik.

    • @SamuelGoldNFL
      @SamuelGoldNFL  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They call it Wide Zone and Mid Zone, but it turns into a semantics battle between Wide and Outside. I didn't want to bring in a new set of terminology for stuff that's already been defined in previous videos.

    you did not talk about the lack of Sean Lee and adding an extra linebacker against the run heavy team enough. The Cowboys continually trotted out a nickel formation while they were getting run over, while allowing an All-Pro linebacker to sit on the sidelines. This should have been the Crux of the video.

    Dallas front 7 has always been about speed and diversions(what i call diversions) where their dline hard slants and their LBs flow through gaps. The Rams oline is hard hitting and very technically sound. They moved the cowboys without a problem. They also didnt fall for their shenanigans. Besides that, if you watched the game(not talking about Samuel here) you would have noticed the Cowboys came in playing a different style of defense. They didnt do all the diversions and slants. They tried to play straight up and got destroyed because of it.

    • @SamuelGoldNFL
      @SamuelGoldNFL  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Rams averaged 3x the amount of yards on the ground on first downs... It's not that hard to figure out why they kept running on these downs and the Cowboys shouldn't lol.

    • @jabukufo
      @jabukufo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SamuelGoldNFL The problem isn't that the Cowboys ran too much. It's that they ran straight up the middle into a wall over and over every time they ran the ball. There were like 2-3 times Zeke ran around the end, and they were his best carries all game. Then they never called those plays again.
      This is why we hate Scott Linehan. He doesn't adjust his play calling during the game. He went into the game thinking "we're just gonna run Zeke straight up the middle" and then kept doing that every time they gave Zeke the ball. Linehan is incapable of seeing where we're getting beat and adjusting his play calling to account for that. It's like he just chalks it up to bad-luck, and continuously thinks "well, we'll get them next time" and then keeps calling the same play over and over.
      The only "trick play" I saw was the one where they tried to have Tavon Austin run the ball in an end-around. The problem with that is they never put Tavon Austin in the game except when they're about to run that exact play, so the defense knew exactly where he was going and beat him there even though Austin's speed is his strong suit.

    • @jabukufo
      @jabukufo 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also if Jason Garret hadn't wasted one of our timeouts, he could've stopped the clock after that first down, and had one more chance to get a stop.
      He wasted it on the Ram's last possession seconds before the 2-minute warning. Maybe there's some strategy there I don't understand, but it seems to me it would be better to let the clock run for 15 seconds and stop at the 2-min warning, and then use your timeout to save 40 seconds on the next play.
