The Lost Legacy of Keroro Gunso

- As I worked on this over the past six months or so, I finally felt like I was making a video for me and those close to me. A lot of my heart and soul went into this one, and I hope it brings others nostalgic memories and joy the same way it does for me. Keroro Gunso means a lot to me, even though he is just a dumb, stupid frog. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Thanks so much~!! ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝♡
This video and SGT FROG are absolute gems, I wish the green little dude was more popular in the west 😔
Agreed.
I'm 17 (so born a few years late to experience its peak), but as a child, I loved this show so much :))
Nice to meet you. I'm Japanese Keroro fan.
In addition to the fact that the original manga is still serialized, a new anime project also started in April of this year. However, due to the timing of the project announcement, many anime fans mistakenly think it is an April Fool's Day event.
I’m so old that I remember Sgt Frog being on Netflix, being the first anime I ever watched
I really hope they make a reboot or something, cuz the humor on that show was something else.
@@Jynxxx5 i also watched it on netflix way back when 😅
i love sgt frog, thank you so much for making this video!!! it makes me sad how keroro and his platoon are pretty much forgotten by the public now, they're such lovable characters and the anime is so sweet and funny :(
it's the anime's 20th anniversary and manga's 25th anni this year, so i really hope that we'll see something new from this franchise aside from random japanese or korean marketing campaigns
ALRTIX WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE
@@girokero HI ALLI!!!!!!!!
it means the WORLD to me that you made this video.... keroro gunso is like . my biggest hyperfixation ever and ive been a fan of it for a while now and it just . makes me so happy seeing someone make a video about it .... i wish to be able to go to all the keroro attractions in both japan and south korea cuz they are both still really big there after 20 years!
i feel the same way! the last time I was in Japan, I barely saw any keroro things, but I hope to visit again and hopefully see more if I look in the right places...!
I miss the times when keroro was a franchise with a lot of content so much :C It was my favorite franchise
I'm so glad to see another video about Keroro! A couple years back a friend got me into the anime and it's sorta been my favorite thing ever, so I'm always scavenging the web for cool stuff about everyone's favorite frog alien. This video was super interesting and informative! I was interested to hear Todd Haberkorn's words about how big it was for him. It was also super sweet to hear stories back in Japan about how much this goofy circle headed frog brought joy to so many. Also I forgot all about that video of the kid screaming and running away from the Keroro mascot lol
I just remembered that Sanrio did a collab with Sgt.Frog last week
Saw the good news and search by sort by for latest vid, thanks for the video
this anime is my childhood, I hope oneday it'll go mainstream again. I remember stop reading manga when there's a new character who's keroro lookalike character with pointy ears, it felt like the story just kinda felt weird and random
Its one of my favorite anime ever.
I love sergeant frog. It sucks that the anime isn’t as popular. The English dub is absolutely hilarious.
It's kinda hard for me to not feel melancholic and nostalgic for it... Keroro always makes me think of a better time...
As a long time fan of the series it’s honestly it’s sad how Keroro fell from popularity when the anime ended in 2011. I still have hopes that one day a proper continuation or reboot will come to fruition.
This was before invader Zim
13:31 I gasped and looked so scared and sad when i saw tamama lost his arm :(
I absolutely love Sgt. Frog
just recently started watching this anime a few months ago. it is now my current obsession

Same I couldn't watch it as a kid lol
thank you so much for making this video!! its rare to see keroro videos like this in 2024 :3
@@rfart419 yeah i agree
augh, i'm thankful someone made a video on keroro gunsou. i loved that show as a kid and i love it now!!!it brings much joy to my life and every day i live in vain hoping that one day it'll get more popular in the west again :(
I feel like if the Sgt. Frog dub came out right around the time when abridged shows became super popular, it would’ve blown up in the West
Keroro is a treasure and I really wish more people knew this ;-; Amazing work on the video! They all mean a lot to me too, so it was awesome to see the love they get in Japan. Those statues are adorable too
17:45 the manga is actually still ongoing ^^ its on its 33rd volume, but doesnt get translated anymore, but there are theories that sgt frog anime might come back
where are you hearing this
This comment aged like fine wine because an anime revival was announced on the offical TH-cam channel and Twitter!💕
Keroro Gunso was the first anime I ever watched!! I watched it in parts on TH-cam when I was 9-10 years old (iykyk!!) So glad to see other people sharing their love of one of my favorite shows :,)
I'm all here for these deep dives into forgotten 2000s anime. Keroro has been my top 3 comfort anime for many years now, I'm so glad to see people still talk about it to this day
I recently remembered that one of the Soul Calibur games ( Soul Calibur V, I think), there was a guest character you can play as called Angol Fear. She was Angol Mois' cousin and she even appeared in the manga to investigate why Mois hadn't destroyed Earth yet.
Nostalgia. Sgt Frog was *huge* back then. It was similar in terms of fame level of current shows such as Spy x Family, even though anime back then wasnt as popular as it is now
This was a super fascinating video, certainly never imagined I’d see this kind of stuff covered in English! Even though the 2000s heyday is over there’s a lot of Keroro events in Japan still, just much more targeted to the adults that grew up with the series rather than children. It’s huge in Korea too; I’d say it rivals the Japanese fanbase these days, with their own exclusive events and mobile games and everything. Definitely keep an eye on the series’s official twitter account because there’s plenty of new merch and events going on for the anime’s 20th anniversary 👀 Of course the merchandise nowadays is the more standard collectible fare that you see in pop-up shops all the time, no more scales and toasters LOL so I would definitely watch a video about the more obscure older products!
As an aside, I wouldn’t bet on a new full season of the anime as the voice actors are much older/somewhat less active now and the original staff has been moved around a lot, but the VAs have said they’re interested in some kind of return project so maybe we’ll get a new movie or OVA/ONA someday!
aw thank you for your sweet comment! yes, it's certainly fascinating how keroro has popped off in Korea as well. I remember seeing Seohyun of girls generation enjoying keroro and being surprised but glad to see I shared that interest with one of my idols!
i definitely will keep an eye out for news from the 20th anniversary ^^
I absolutely adore sgt frog! Its been my favorite anime for nearly 4 years now and the dub is legendary😭💗
Way back when, I would play Keroro RPG in Japanese and had no idea how to progress due to the language barrier, but the I have fondness for those memories. Amazingly, I only learned from this video that the frogs were wannabe invaders.
Sometimes I wished Sgt. Frog(Keroro Gunso) games will have English versions available to the west. Such as Keroro Action Hero.
yess, I've always wanted to try out the games!
@@chu-chuns Agreed! Ever since I just came across that Mother from "The Cavidians of Cavity 9" is an actual boss from that game. th-cam.com/video/yeZEGpQ72U0/w-d-xo.html
sgt frog is legendary 😭😭😭
people are missing out on this anime and it’s depressing.
i haven’t been a fan for too long, but enough time has passed anyways
i rlly like tamama :)
I believe I started watching this anime in 2012 and I was hooked ever since then. I was so sad when I learned that season four or the rest of the series wouldn’t come to the west. But now from what it looks like, with SGT Frog coming back hopefully there’s a chance it’ll see a return to the west!
I REMEBER WATCHING THE SHOW I'M SO HAPPY TO SEE IT APPEAR ALL AGAIN!
Video of the century
Revisiting my childhood nostalgia, and what do you know, my own Flipnote appears in it! 💚
@@K66GunsoFN I watched your flipnotes all the time growing up! I think it may have even been your work that introduced me to keroro in the first place. thanks for being awesome!
@@chu-chuns That means so much!! I'm eager to return to making animations of my favorite media again! 🤩
Keroro will always be in my heart
You mentioned wanted to know more about keroro land and I have a mutual on tumblr who has posted scans from a few of them! Not many people know but sgt frog has a good portion of people in the fandom still active on tumblr (me included)
@@olliepop2303 i believe ive seen them! i really like looking through scans of it since each page is so full of good
Absolute banger of a video, gotta rewatch Keroro now
I remember I was a sophomore in high school that I first watched the sub of this anime a cousin of mine introduced to me back in 2008-2009. I basically watched this on TH-cam from unofficial uploaders in three parts of one episode in 480p. I loved this anime back then and fell back in love with it a few years ago (I'm 32 now).
sergeant frog = insta like. good video!
also id love to see your video about Keroro merch
ah what an awesome video!!! I've only recently discovered sgt frog (ever aired here in Poland) and im so happy to see people talk about it!!!!! love this so much also id love to see a Sgt Frog eBay dive, I've seen so much obscure merchandise and its all hilarious, I FOUND A PICTURE OF A KERORO HOTEL ROOM??? So yeah omg im so happy you made this vid !!!!!!
such a cozy video! LOVE IT!
Why doesn't Mine Yoshizaki make his American Melody Honey the Keroro Channel mascot? She can also be adapted into the episodes of The Melody Honey Program, comic books, webcomics, internet cartoons, and advertisements. According to mine yoshizaki's blog, a new webtoon starring Honey was in development. She was meant to be a recurring character, but Keroro Channel liked the character and many plot points featuring him were promise. After mine yoshizaki and fumitoshi oizaki was allowed the right to use the character as he pleased and he made Melody Honey the mascot of Keroro Channel. Melody Honey can be a main character within many subsequent forms of media produced by Keroro Channel.
Another banger bestie!!!! Really interesting video love learning more froggy lore!!
thank you bestie!! im glad 🥲
I saw this show on Hulu plus when I was a little kid, it was my favorite show and I barely understood it, the jokes went right over my head
First off, amazing video. Heaven would be getting on the Keroro bus to go to school or work, but alas, here we are.
I remember watching Sgt Frog/Keroro Gunso on Netflix a LONG time ago. It's always had a place in my heart.
Recently, a few months ago, someone had donated a TON of their KG merch to the local thrift. There were easily 12 of the Keroro-Land magazines there - practically untouched. I also spotted a Giroro finger puppet and a super cute Kululu charm. Apparently, at some point there were a ton of itty bitty KG charms you could collect (probably through letters/a lottery sort of deal, like you said) that hook together to make bracelets or necklaces. Though, about the magazines, if you are still curious as to what's in them - each of them had their own unique trinkets inside. The one I have includes greeting cards, a Dororo model, and a marble-game setup all of which you get to cut out and build. It has sections inside that are dedicated to fan-art, and on the sides of the pages there are snippets of fan-mail sent in from kids talking about how cute the frogs are/how much they love the show. I really really wish KG was more popular here. Some of its humor is really similar to Ghost Stories, and seeing how people love Ghost Stories, I'm surprised KG doesn't receive the same attention.
@@Synestsia that thrift find sounds like a dream come true..!
god i REALLY hope that the reboot takes off. i LOVED keroro gunso and it is still my favorite anime of all time
I loved this video, recently got back into the show after awhile, So cool to hear about all of these mostly unknown events and promotions!
This video aged like wine fr
I am now subscribed and have commented 3 times :,] You're seriously cool and funny.
The first anime I watch such a funny show
Sgt Frog and Invader Zim will always have a special place in my heart. Irkens and Keronians are my fave aliens.
Ngl that show is one of the best anime alive, I don't get how my classmates hates it, it's so good and amazing, sometime the show makes me cry,I was so sad when they ended the anime. But good news, they are doing another season, the official channel posted the trailer, I hope it will go viral again.
I'm into that fandom again, cause I rewatch it,the fandom kinda dies, but i hope the fandom/community will come back viral again
I hope Keroro gets a revival with the new anime as well!
I just discovered Sgt Frog and got all the English seasons available. I was interested at first as a gundam fan and now my sister also enjoys watching it. I use my Keroro Gunso gundam nippers all the time!
I loooove this stupid frog
This was really cool, I'd love to visit Kumomoto someday too and see the love they've got for the platoon. But for now, I can't wait to see what's coming in the near future with the return of the anime!
my dad made me watch it when i was a baby and now being older i still love the anime, my husband got me some merch too, I'm so happy i love them show with all my heart, when I'm just sad i watch it over again and again, i wish there was more eng dub, I can't read that well bc of my dyslexia but i still watch the show!!!
MY CHILDHOOD FROG!!!
I wanna see the meechandise vid
im 22 from the us and have a tattoo of angol mois 💕
Wait, did manga end in 2018? I thought it was still going on, at least according to fanon wiki most recent voume was relased in may 26, 2023. I may be wrong throught, it's been a while since I last cheked this series.
oh, you're so right!!! my apologies. Keroro is still running strong so long as Yoshizaki-san is! ^o^
i never saw this anime bc my sister really liked it and i wanted to like my own things but hhhhholy fuck did i miss out this is a banger anime
I stumbled across the dubbed SGT Frog episodes on TH-cam as a kid after watching Ouran High School Host Club and Death Note on Netflix… I do believe it was a canon event!
I saw Keroro Gunso for the first time (I prefer to call the franchise that way because the English title in the USA gives me VERY bad associations) in the 5th grade (late 2021)
I started watching anime in December 2021 while sick
This year will be 3 years since I've been in the fandom
