Reorganizing my new yarn room.

- Having an entire room for my yarn is very exciting. I didn’t need a large space or expensive furniture. I used what I had on hand and the room is perfect! Even though I have downsized in overall size of my house, I now have a designated room for my yarn and crochet. It took several days to accomplish it, but I am very happy with how it turned out. My yarn is organized along one wall, my WIPS are organized in the cabinet along another wall, and my tools and materials are organized and stored as well. Adding a comfortable chair to have a place to sit and crochet finished this small, but cozy room off. Crochet has never been so exciting!

The storage cubbies are two different brands. The lower ones are Mainstay cubbies I found at Walmart and are slightly deeper and bigger than the upper cubbies. I will link them below. The upper ones are Furinno cubbies/bookcases I found on Amazon ( also linked below). These are not as deep or big, but I like the fact that all the cubbies are not the exact same size, which gives more dimension to the wall.
The WIP storage unit I found at Hobby Lobby. I bought it in the spring/summer of 2022 I believe and I have not seen it there since. I wish I had bought a second one. It is perfect for storing my current WIPS.
Micheal’s has some wooden crates that could be stacked and used for WIP storage. I will link those for you as an option. These are not drawers per se, but could be stacked, painted, or stained to have any look you like.

Thank you! I am loving my room! The shelves came from two places. Some are just Mainstay cubbies from Walmart and the others I found on Amazon. They are secured to the wall so they will not fall. They were easy to put together. At least I thought so.

Do you find an advantage to keeping your yarn in open cubbies as opposed to tubs?

I love having my yarn in open cubbies because I can see what I have rather than searching through tubs. I used to store all my yarn in plastic tubs but could never remember what I had so when I went to do a project, I would just go buy new yarn because it was easier 🤣🤣

Just wondering where you keep you odds and ends leftover from skeins? I think I need mine displayed easily so I'll see them to use them up.
I actually have a large basket with a lid that I keep them in. It sits on the floor next to the chair. They are not in plain site, I having them close to the chair makes it easy for me to add to it when working on a project. Also, when it gets too full to put the lid on I know it is time to use them up or donate them 🤣 in fact I am working on using them up now doing some small projects that don’t take much yarn.
Why not rainbow order?
I thought about rainbow order, but felt by weight of yarn worked better for my brain. 🤣
