I think a fun video would be a clear the cubby. Pick a cubby and you have to use all the yarn in it and can show us what you make. Then you have an empty cubby when you can put some yarn from down stairs
People don't realize how easy it is for the stash to get out of control like this! I completely get it. I have a fairly small stash (3 totes) but I still get kinda overwhelmed and go through it to weed out stuff I haven't used. I'm currently on a yarn buying ban unless it's specifically for a project... Our apartment just doesn't have space.
Yeah I should probably go on a yarn buying ban myself. But then I ask my husband for approval and he says yes. He’s an enabler. So it’s really his fault 😂😂😂
Last year I used 423, 100g balls of yarn I make Cat blankets, hats Snoods, ear warmers & Fingerless gloves for various charities in my area of South Yorkshire UK
I have yarn in my living room and also in my crochet room I’m starting to work on. And I am still waiting on more to come.lol but they are all for projects planned ahead of time.
2 things 1. Suggestion: when you wind your skeins roll the label up and slip it into the center. Then you always have it and if you have to make more than 1 cake of it, write a label or print a copy of the information from the label from the website where you bought it (copy and paste or copy and print copy) and do the same thing. OR take the label and tape a piece of the yarn to it and put it in a binder so you can always refer bak to it when you need a color way or whatever info you might need from the label, but honestly the first thing is just easier! 2. I feel your pain on the yarn stash. At least you have a large quantity of it in book shelves. I have like 6 bins in my craft room closet (cant get into the craft room at the moment) 3 boxes in my hallway, 4 boxes in my living room and 6 large Joanns & hobby lobby bags in my living room. Thats just my yarn. I cant even begin to tell you about my fabric stash. You are not alone.
I normally do put the label inside or put the important parts but that wasn’t as visually pleasing for the video. Or it’s discontinued so it didn’t really matter what it was because I can’t get it any more! But I love the suggestion. Thank you for making me feel like I’m not alone!
Big respect in these kinds of videos because it takes a lot of effort to film yourself for a month. It's very okay that you weren't able to film everything I personally cannot imagine how much editing is done to make a video like this! Great work!
I had a huge stash and over the past year, I've been making it a point to work it down. It is finally just about manageable. It takes being focused on the goal and not buying anymore yarn unless you absolutely need it for a current project you are doing.
You never fail to come up with the most interesting video ideas. The ending was just as good the second time 😂 I'm glad you forgot to stop recording so we could see all the space you have now!
Honestly this video makes me so happy. I am moving and have a huge yarn/fiber stash. It’s almost embarrassing but seeing your video normalizes my stash.
I write down "goals" for the year and I track what I buy and what I have in FOs for the year. It is super satisfying over all. I haven't tried to just plow through for a single month.
Honestly, it was not a fail! You still went through a lot of yarn. But you just struggled keeping track of the yarn you didn’t have labels for. So you just need to find a better system to mindlessly or simply keep track of those skeins without labels… maybe a small clipping from the end of each skein?
I can TOTALLY relate!! My husband and kids are buried in yarn in my livingroom. I keep bringing it downstairs from my yarn room and now it's just everywhere 😅
I love this video somehow it encourages me to crochet a lot more than I would. I’m only quite young so I have to much school but I’m trying to crochet a lot for a market I have in November but I can’t crochet currently because Im on holidays and I couldn’t fit my yarn in my luggage😭 but anyways I have maybe watched this video like 5 times (LOVE YOU, YOUR HUSBAND AND YOUR DOG).
How do you decide what plushies to make for markets? I am hopefully doing some this summer but I’m overwhelmed by the amount of cute patterns I’ve found. 😅
I wind a lot of yarn too and figured out a way to save my labels. I buy 1” tags from Amazon. I use the label and write on the tag and use a marker that closes to attach them to the ball I wound. It works So perfect!
Your not the only one girlfriend I have yarn in my bedroom living room and I have a craft room oh and let’s not forget the yarn in the garage and my storage unit 😂😅😮😢
Knitter here--Love watching your video. I, too, have enough yarn to open my own shop. Can a person open a Second Hand Yarn store? Anyway, I wanted to suggest that if you decide to keep labels-you can tuck them into the center of the cakes you wind. I keep my labels because I use various blends of yarns, and I attach the label to the item when I gift or donate it. I enjoy watching your videos.
When I wind a ball of yarn I fold the label and wind the yarn around it. I may have to unwind a ball of yarn to find out what it is, but I always know in the end. ;)
I totally get it, sometimes you just wake up and see what you’re doing 😂😂. I’m always reorganizing and it always turns a mess again. Hope you are better at this than me 😂
Maybe you could just weigh the skeins and keep running total. You could subtract the leftovers or not but you wouldn't have to fiddle with labels and missing labels. Also you didn't fail.
I subscribed not even 5 minutes in hahaha you are my long distance friend hahaha we live in a small trailer I have the same issue but all my yarn is in storage hahaha
I just try to buy and use for one or two projects at a time. However I’ve made one thing then started something else with the same yarn, frogged the first piece to finish the second because I liked the second piece better. I am also guilty of not buying enough to start with. I’m still waiting for a yarn to come back at Dollar Tree to finish a scarf started last year. I might have to do something else.
Hi i am new on your channel well i would say its life of crocheter cause i do have mine but when i see yarn in store i get overwhelmed well that's it cant control i find it normal❤so its ok

I can’t imagine imagine trying to track all of that for a full year. I get way too distracted in just a month. I commend you
When you ball up yarn, fold the wrapper and stuff in the middle of the cake or ball. You'll have the wrapper when you finish.
