The overall quality, aesthetic, and vibe of this video is so beautiful, I couldn’t help but watch it. I can tell you really put a lot of effort into your videos and all of the pictures displayed your projects so well. I found myself wanting to make pieces I never would think to wear, purely because they look so gorgeous on you. I am now going to subscribe and thank the TH-cam gods for putting you in my recommended videos.
I have a friend in Connecticut who has made a small fortune doing alterations she had to have employees to help she stays so busy. Your sitting on a gold mine just knowing how to sew. Start an in home business with very little advertising you could really do well. Everything coming from foreign countries nothing fits correctly or just needs a hem etc. The town my son lived in had 1 person that did alterations the wait time for her was over 2 years she didn't hire employees. That goes for anyone that sews. The person I had do my alterations passed away. She kept busy and lived quite well.
I really love all the thrifted fabrics! Where I live, thrift stores really suck, so I'm kinda jealous of all the nice bedsheets you can get at yours! :D
thank you!! thats a bummer about your thrift stores. there was this IG page, @shopwellfibre, who used to sell secondhand fabrics, but they're no longer active. i feel like theres a market for this though!!
Check out A Thrifty Notion online. They sell secondhand fabric! Also, Etsy. I've also been lucky just hawking FB Marketplace and the NextDoor app for neighbors destashing their fabric.
wowowow you're almost at a garment a week. it's fun to hear about what you liked and didn't like about the pieces. I also made a cozy mock neck sweater and I live in deep winter for like 4 months of a year so it's great but I think I might have to frog that baby and make it a smaller size... or maybe just scrap it all together, who knows. yarn and sizing is hard! I also get too excited to do some finishing sometimes and so ya girl has a rack of dresses that need some finished hems. fun vid :) great aesthetic, superb vibes
when i got everything on the rack, i was like sheeeesh i did this in a year?? yarn sizing is hard haha, i bet it keeps you warm! now that i've followed some patterns to a T, i've started freestyling a bit and it's been nice! frog it and see what else you can make! i love that aspect of yarn v fabric. haha. yes hemming is the hardest easiest part! to more finished hems in 2022. :)
I'm so happy you made a video about your 2021 makes! I saw the shorts you made and thought all the pieces were so amazing, so it was great to get more details from you!
thank you Abbie!! i would definitely suggest trying knitting! i have a vid coming out soon on great beginner knitting patterns, i hope you will find it helpful!
I adore almost all of these pieces! It's refreshing to see someones self-made garments that aren't exclusively "50's, 60's" aesthetic. It seems like all I can ever find on youtube honestly but I'm convinced its just youtube recommendations seriously letting me down. What got me into sewing was wanting to sew my own clothes that fit me really well, are current and trendy, yet don't fund these fast fashion companies that don't think twice about sustainability. Your entire years creations definitely give me hope that I just need to find the right patterns and keep digging around haha.
Aww thank you!! Yes that was a huge part of it for me as well. It’s difficult to find the right patterns, as a lot can be a little uninspired, but I’m glad you found some inspo here!! 🤍
I love watching these types of videos, but your personality tops everything else I've seen. You look like you could be my best friend haha. I have been sewing for 14 years but hopped off the wagon a bit recently. I think its time to get back in.
I really enjoyed watching this video!! it is very inspiring and it has motivated me to get better at sewing and learn new skills. the last dress was absolutely gorgeous!!
You remind me so much of Saoirse Ronan from The Lovely Bones in this! You two are both stunning and I loved watching this video. It’s my first one of yours but I’m definitely subscribed now!
I just discovered this video randomly (thank you YT!) and thoroughly enjoyed seeing everything you made. Your style and many of the designers and patterns that you used are very different for me and that is fantastic. I follow other sewers on youtube, who I love, but many of them use the same patterns and often the same fabrics. So your channel is really refreshing. You seem to be very creative and fearless and that's inspiring. The Helena Wrap Dress is now on my list I've subscribed and look forward to seeing more!
thank you!! i definitely feel as though i'm nailing down my color palette, though it changes with the seasons hehe. the helena is so well done, and you can't beat a wrap dress in the summer!
This is my first video of yours I've seen...your cat is so cute, the color pallet of your wardrobe is amazing, and your vibe is 👌🏻✨ I can't wait to binge watch the rest of your videos!
Well I’ve just found you…..what beautiful work you do and your video is beautiful….there was not one thing I didn’t like on you, and your colour pallet is perfect for you. I can’t wait to see more from you! Well done
I love this!!! They all look so amazing! I'm so happy for you 😁 I need to get back into trying to learn how to sew but I'm so intimidated by my overlocker/serger 😬 but I'll get there!
Hi Stephanie, just found your channel and really enjoyed seeing all your 2021 makes. Incredible how many things you made and how cute everything was - nice job! Looking forward to watching more of your videos. Cheers! ~Angela
wow I'm so impresed with your sewing and knitting accomplishments! So creative and I love your aesthetic. Well done! New subscriber. I dream of making my own clothes someday :)
could you do a free sewing patterns for beginners (with a bit more sizing l-xl) I have grown (in weight) since the pandemic and started to find that I like to sew but cannot find some free xl patterns cute summery things
I love this video so SO much! I love your style! I think I'm still figuring my sewing style out! Choosing fabrics can be tricky to pair with a particular pattern. But a pleasure to watch as always! Happy Sewing!
i'm definitely still figuring out my style as well!! I like to let the fabric tell me what it wants to be, but sometimes its immediate and other times it takes like a year hahah thank you for watching!!
these are incredible!!! I love these all so much. I'm trying to get back into sewing this year and these kinds of videos inspire me to do so. Would also love to learn how you adjust the sleeves on a fit so it doesn't lift up when you raise your arms.
yay!! good luck getting back into it! :) i've found that the closer the armscye is to the armpit, the less shirt will lift up! (so it was never totally solved on my gilbert's due to the looser fit)
I’m thinking about starting sewing. I have a basic sewing machine already but I found a nice short sleeve mock neck top pattern. I’m not sure whether it’s too much of a stretch for a first garment or if it would just be a nice challenge. All of these pieces look amazing and make me even more interested in trying to start sewing my own clothes.
that sounds super cute! i say go for it. The reality is that you will probably make a couple of mistakes, but it's the best way to learn in my opinion. Not to mention looking forward to a cute top will keep you going through any issues!!
@@stephtime the top looks like it will be really nice and I’ve found a nice cow print fabric on Etsy for it so I’ll probably order it tomorrow and then I’ll see how it turns out.
I love the little bustier! You said it has a nice texture and it's a vintage fabric. I'm wondering if it's what's known as bark cloth? Lots of Hawaiian pieces were made with this in the 60s and probably earlier.
hihi! i've really been enjoying ur videos since i found ur channel a couple of months back! i too am trying to perfect the fit of the Gilbert top. what kind of adjustment did u do to ur sleeves after the sba? tysm!
Hey there!! i ended up widening the shirt a bit, doing a SBA, straightening the sides and slash and spread the sleeves. i would also add width to the actual sleeve in addition to that for my next one. i have all of my toiles outlined on my IG if that helps!!!
You created an entire wardrobe! Every bit of this video was so enjoyable. The colors, the photos, and the vibe of the video, just stunning. What thrift stores do you recommend is ATL. I'm new to the area.
