Story has it that JT (the bass player) and the drummer just came up with the bass and drum line during a sound check. Chris heard it, liked it, told them to keep it going while he came up with words. Masterpieces R Us. On the spot. Pure, unfiltered, unadulterated genius. The scraping sound you heard at the top is a bowed cymbal. By dragging a bow across the edge of a cymbal you get the scraping sound plus some of the overtones of the cymbal itself. My visual are chains being dragged along a cement floor. Again, genius.
I absolutely love this one, one of my favorites from Chris, hes incredible with the way he makes you feel in this one. I freaking love your reactions Britt, you're hilarious 👍👍👍
Well Chris Stapleton could sing the phone book, and I'm all for it!! And yeah him and the Blues😜😜😜. A couple of story songs I think you'd love are Jimmy Dean's Big Bad John, and Tennessee Ernie Ford's Sixteen Tons. Agree with the above Red Sovine's Teddy Bear and Phantom 309 are so great. I think I cry every time I hear all of these! ❤❤❤
love it every time you sing. gotta lot to say about this song, his loneliness singing wout his Beloved & Betrothed Morgane. No light down here below. A fantastic piece.
Big CS fan here, have seen him perform live and am very grateful for that opportunity. Have always felt this was his darkest effort.......... yet his BEST EFFORT! Enjoyed your reaction Britt, TY.
This is the greatest example of music communicating emotions without words that I know of. Chris' words add to the story but the emotions are in the music.
Chris Stapleton is from the same county in Kentucky as Loretta Lynn and thats where I call home as well !! This young man can sang, I'll tell ya that right now !!
The drummer & base never took their eyes off Chris. I guess that's why they're so in sync. Masterpiece! Actually both songs! Chris don't miss! ❤ Love your channel! My favorite reaction channel! ❤
Great stuff, and reminiscent of some of his songs he wrote when he was with The Steeldrivers (see "If it Hadn't Been For Love"). Thanks for reacting to this one.
You have a new subscriber 👍 You’re so animated and expressive and your reactions are what reaction videos should be like. I was never really into country, and Chris Stapleton, Tyler Childers and Colter Wall (check out his stuff: The Devil Wears a Suit and Tie and Kate McCannon) have opened my eyes to this genre. I’ve been on a Britt marathon so far this morning.
Ms. Britt, So I just realized that Mr Stapleton and Mr Snoop Dog did a collab together for the ESPN opening song. I really dig how Stapleton uses his vocal for "In the air tonight". And I must admit in the past 5 years, I've developed an appreciation for more of the country genre. I believe that I might have liked that more than Phil's. So I am about to take a walk through your archives to see what other songs Mr Stapleton sings.
His voice is perfect for this song. You need that soulful voice to bring out the harshness of death row, the regrets you need that voice that sounds like life has been harsh. This hillbilly blue grass soulful voice just draws you on and spits you out on Death Row. BTW, how about a song about pooping rainbows. Sorry couldn't resist.
Brit, love your reactions, your humor, and your funny analogies.you got a amazing voice yourself, and are cute as a button also 😁😏 You are my favorite reactor on YT. Jeff
Death Row Records should've changed its name after this song came out. I've been hoping you would find this song. He does an amazing job painting a picture with his playing, and with his singing. Song fades out like the executioner just finished his work. Really gets into the Chicago Blues side of Chris Stapleton. I think that effect is a train - some of the wheels grate against the rails. There's one about a block from me that sounds just like that. He's got a couple other songs along this vein, "Or Was it 26" is one, but "Midnight Train to Memphis" is just an AMAZING rockin' song about 40 days in jail. Great guitar hook.
You could do a series of these. Sing me back home by Merle haggard, green green grass of home tom jones, steel drivers (CS’s first band) hadn’t been for love.
This man should PLEASE COME TO CHICAGO and sing the blues at Rosa's Lounge. Oh wait, he's going to be here at Soldier Field on July 20th and I cannot believe it....I got tickets. Yes,this is blues and I am doing a funky groove just like you said like he's Vino Louden or some kid at Humboldt Jungle (the kids are kids in years lived only) LOVED LOVED LOVED your reactions, my first time seeing you. I can't wait to hear more from you!!! Remember Britt, you never know who's life you may have saved tonight. Peace 🎉❤🎉
You are gonna love it! His singing live is 10 times better than the studio versions. I saw him with the Eagles in 2018 in Dallas, and he got more of a reaction by the crowd than the Eagles did. Have fun.
You said something about this needing to be on a soundtrack in a movie. He did a cover for The Blackest Album. It's a bunch of different people doing their covers of the songs on Metallica's black album. He did Nothing Else Matters & it sounds like something you'd hear in a revenge movie. Check that one out if you can. It's almost as good as the original
Please react to Luciano Pavoratti and James Brown collaboration of " It's a Man's World". Beautiful.....and what respect they have for each other is heartwarming!
@johndevlin7700 good, that will give you an opportunity to publish a CB dictionary after the video. You have to love the follow up song (I don't remember the name) where Teddy Bear dies and the truckers drive circles around his little grave. Guess he was buried in a big field.
You are a cool; I love your reactions. But yeah um that's real; because when pretty girls grab their necklaces/chains - then it's real, real. Very cool young cousin.
One of my favorite Stapleton songs. You pick the worst times to stop the song though. Work on your timing. We all know you heard this song before this video so try to do better. 🤷🏻♂️

I've been waiting for you to react to this one! Love this song, and Chris' voice is just magic.
Brit, since the 1st video I seen of you, You bring a smile to my face, you are such a beautiful person, keep rocking...
This man can give you chills every song
that boy puts a hook in your soul and doesn't let go
Pure blues! Chris has said several times over that this was his favorite recording of all.
What talent this man has, cordial greetings from 🇺🇾 Uruguay 😊✌️❤

Love this song! Another one that gets me is “I was wrong “ live at Austin City Limits. I would love to see your reaction to that one.
that boy always takes us to church
I just love watching you. You get such joy out of the music. Your great!
Yes, this is the song! 💚🤙

"I don't think he's coming back."
He told you he was on death row. 😂

I'm dying...you actually had me rolling my shoulders. LOL
100% this would have been a great soundtrack - Green Mile for example
This is my favorite Song by CS
I've known 2 folks who died on the row. My daddy, and a man named Tuffy R.I.P
Your voice can be so soothing when you want it to be. :)
You should give his and Morgane's rendition of "You are my sunshine" with Morgane singing the lead. It will amaze you.
Speaking of Chris and rainbows.... you should check out him signing Where Rainbows Never Die with the SteelDrivers! Great reaction!

Holy crap, I got into this song, CS can’t make bad music even if he wanted to !
That shoulder dance took me out... LOL

Great Reaction 👍🙏😎🌹
I waited to hear this song til you reacted to it
Fire reaction girl 🔥
Wow...he killed that song. Please do a reaction to Nataniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats song "S.O.B,"
Just from the instruments, I imagine someone in chains walking slowly on their last walk.
You have a great voice
💯
I want a reaction and then a cover of the song. Who ever does that is the winner 100
Please react to Luciano Pavoratti and James Brown collaboration of " It's a Man's World". Beautiful.....and what respect they have for each other is heartwarming!
Yes you are right! I’m from Memphis and was a BB fan. Saw him a bunch. This is that if not better! It’s not country!.
Please react to Chris Stapleton...Loving You On My Mind..You will Love it i promise.
Omg u have to do “It takes a woman” by Chris….TRUST ME sis!!!!!
He's walking the green mile 😵💫
There's a group called The Fairfield Four, a group of old black men. I wish they could have closed this song out.
Am I the only one who wants to see a Chris Stapleton and Anthony Hamilton collaboration? That would be epic.
Normally I get very bored with such a repetitive rhythm but it fits the story perfectly
I ty you would love Sting singing Desert Rose
I've been waiting for you to get into the "dirty" side of the president of the PDC❤ 😂
React to red sorvine teddy bear
I’ll look into it!
Check out his BB King cover .. This man is Fire 🔥

only bad thing about this song is that its too short lol
That's delta blues .
It's candace Owens's sister
Either way and What are you listening to..
So hott I love watching ur reactions
This is a hard reaction because it gets a bit more into what is considered dark country. It’s a beautiful song but won’t be for everyone.
You should copyright your reactions.
They add so much to the musical experience.
You talk way too much
React ... not the pretentious, interrupting overreactions.
