Your friend has some really good insights about what makes ren so unique as an artist. His writing is just so top tier and original. She makes a great point about being a multi instrumentalist, singer etc. but also an unmatched writer.

Ren has the genius ability to turn some simple lyrics into so much more. The first introduction into Violet's life, 'Violet was a silent girl, grew up with violent starts...', to 'I'm sure her Mother knew., are 4 simple lines, but impart so much about Violet to his audience. It's enough to set a picture in his audiences mind, but also not so much that it allows his audience to fill in parts with their own imagination. A sign of a gifted story teller.

Thank you Rosalie and thanks for coming back, Wendi!! Also, thank you for introducing me to the genius of Ren, Rosalie: I started watching your channel for Rush reactions, and became interested in Ren since you covered his video regarding his KujoBeats issues. For the countless number of times I've watched reactions to this trilogy, this is the best I've seen! Rosalie, your stoicism throughout the beginning and throughout the videos was amazing. I was expecting you to say, "Oh, you're wondering if you're going to feel something"? Great job. I really appreciated you keeping her immersed in the videos by not stopping it every few minutes to talk about it. But, I also appreciated watching you watching her waiting to see her reaction. It was awesome! Again, great job!

Ren shines the light on the dark sides of society.. the side we try to ignore.. but Ren does it so well..and so creatively that you can't look away.. such an important artist. I think he is the modern Bob Dylan.. he can't be pigeonholed into one into one genre.. and he writes songs that stimulates necessary conversations. I pray for his health as i feel this next generation needs a voice like this young man.

Freddie Mercury of our times - on steroids. Think Bohemian Rhapsody. Im just a poor boy, nobody loves me. Mama, just killed a man... As a guitarist myself, he is incredibly talented. I missed a lot of the details and will Google the lyrics and meaning/spoiler. Wow! Just very powerful and played out well. Extremely theatrical and choreographed perfectly!

When i see the emotional expression on your faces(reaction faces:)),.... i just think, we live so far apart geologically, but i'm also making the same facial expression whilest listening with you both, and feeling mostly, the same emotions. And that makes youtube and the reactionist profession/creationists profession very special and unique. It helps people handle emotions and share feelings about their favorite songs with people/reactionists across the world because you have no one in your real personal friends or family circle who care about these songs. But just now i could share the emotion and agree with people from the other side of the globe that this is a masterpiece, whilest sharing a tear or 2:) ❤🎉

The first time I watched this, I cried. My first husband was Steve, I was 16, he was violent, I was pregnant. It just hit way too close to home. That’s been many, many years ago, and there is still trauma. I knew when she was at the hospital one was her child. I was stunned to find both were her children. But it makes sense. Stevie went to jail for killing her and she died. Her parents weren’t fit for parenting babies. So, they went into the foster system and were split up. She became a prostitute, he got his dad’s violent streak. Great reaction.

  • @Stuart_George

I love the way Ren 'book ends' each tale with a certain lyrical phrase.
In Jenny's tale, it's the 'it was a quiet dark night in an empty street...' passage. Played at the start and the end, but with different emphasis on the meaning of the words 'sleep' and 'escape(d)'. Genius.
In Screech's tale, it's the 'Our story starts right at the end...' line. Towards the end of Screech's tale it is replayed, but twisted around to 'Our story ends right at the start'. Again, genius.
It's used less in Violet's tale, but the 'London City, far from pretty, 2005...' passage certainly helps tie the start of Violet's tale to it's tragic end.
I also like the lines when Screech is confronting Jenny where Screech says '...you don't know me, the last thing you see will be a boy called Screech...'
The irony being that in some way she did know Screech, and indeed the first thing she probably saw as a new born, was indeed Screech, and now it's the last thing she sees.
There are so many orher examples of this sort of thing with Ren's works, but these stand out for me with this trilogy.

    • @Stuart_George

      @twistedpixel756
Agreed. As with much of Ren's work, there are many layers to unravel with every aspect of his writing/story telling.

I totally hear you on the need to dissect every element. Here's one: as Violet's beating begins, the tone is upbeat and easy to bop to, including the line "Nick-nack Paddy-wack", to represent that we're so numb to domestic violence as a society that we just want to bop along and lose ourself in childhood rhymes until the unpleasantness has stopped. It's telling a necessary tale of violence while indicting us for how little we care about violence.
Also, hooray for references to Chekhov's gun!

In the US unknown children or people are referred to as Jane and John Doe. I believe, in the UK, Jane and John Doe are referred to as Jenny and James.
Ren also released Instagram shorts of when screech “stole“ his phone. Those are compiled in a TH-cam video called screeches IG tales I believe. In them we meet screech Patrick the rest of screeches crew and girl. Throughout those stories, we see screeches girl and Patrick , being fairly close while trying to fly under screeches radar. That, I believe, is where the story of where Patrick is in screeches tail and who he is hanging out with.

The graffiti stops are definitely on purpose. Check the right wall when Richard is doing the thing, and again, left wall when Screech reached for the sheath. One more, when Jenny gets intuition, there's a word written on the wall in the bottom left.
Bonus for clicking Read More: there's a word written on the far door, just before the trumpet.

Oy! Even her reaction to the encounter between Jenny and Screech was telling.... that expression and slightly clenched teeth said she was in for a rough ride.
The moment was at "the devil had set his sights on his soul".... she went from passive to "eeeeeh, its gonna be THIS kind of story."
Do NOT let this woman listen to Immortal Technique's "Dance With The Devil". It WILL break her soul, and her therapist will make a fortune.

This is a Tragedy worthy of Shakespeare and Deeper than most may realize. Ren wrote Violet's Tale in 2019 and He Set Violet's Tale in 2005 When Violet moved out on Welfare at 16, concidering what her Father did to her, Jenny and Screech may actually be her Half Siblings as well, explaining why she has a "Welfare Flat" at 16. Jenny is just like Violet was as she never says a word when Screech attacks her, and Screech, just like Violet's Father has a Violent Temperament. A True Terrible Masterpiece!

I just had a thought. Was it Dr. Seuss who once said. Children's books are the hardest to write because you have to tell the story so simply and direct with the minimunal amout of words. And it need to make sense.

I still cry almost every single time I hear it. There’s something just so sad and tragic about the whole thing while I’ve seen this, probably a couple hundred times, I still end up in tears at the end

Great reaction ladies. You did have some video/audio issues esp on Violets Tale. Sounds like you got audio bleed from the open mic causing echo!!
Nonetheless, great job with the reaction and discussion.

Have you seen the alternative Jenny and screech song? Has a happy ending.. its on a page called Renegade.. they used AI to create this song... Jenny breaks the cycle.. when the blade comes out.. instead of freezing and going silent like her mother violet.. she boldly steps forward and speaks to James.. this creates a different reaction from screech and Jenny and James meet.. have a nice conversation and both leave the moment with a new beginning instead of meeting their ends.. they also made a song about the officer who shot screech and his aftermath of the tragic night. Pretty cool actually.

You'll see a comment in there I did.. a bit embarrassing as it fooled me.. didn't realize it was AI generated till later.

Honestly you should have apologized before playing Violet's tale!!!! Or if you wanted to go the humor route ask if she's ready and then said "Sorry but you're not" if she said yes! That part legit makes me cry 90% of the time I listen to it!
Thank you for the wonderful reactions and the way you use your reactions to help spread mental health around the platform!

Emotionally moved every time I see this trilogy, it is so sad and reflects society in the 21st century. 1 Kings 15:3 says the words that apply here. Good reaction/ review ladies..TY.
