  • TH-camr Renaldo Gouws is in trouble for a video he published back in 2010 in which he argued for the consistent condemnation of racism. In this video I explain what happened and I point out that there is indeed not a consistent condemnation of racism.

Please help us in the fight for “Justice for Renaldo Gouws”. The SAHRC is taking him to court for a video he made about Julius Malema singing the “Kill the Boer” song in 2010. Most of the media also has not reported on this video accurately. You can help by donating towards his legal costs in the Equality Court case here into his legal council Trust Account.

Whilst I think it is a good thing that the DA show they are a responsible party who take action, I feel that this whole issue is blown way out of proportion and some measure of rational must prevail.
Allow me to explain, Let's look at the history of the Renaldo Gouws channel, there was a time under "RenGouws", videos were made with a major leniency towards anger and emotional reaction.
Now let us look at that period in context of his life experience at that time, he was at varsity "A Highley charged political environment especially at that time". A time where media was heavily influenced by social activities online. Which turned out was completely "unnatural" as it was bought and paid for by the Dispensation of that time, fully in the throes of state capture. He was a youngster who had not yet learnt to hold sway to his emotions as of yet, at least he had far more youthful Bravado for his own good.
Now look to where his channel is now, firstly he has rebranded the channel to "Renaldo Gouws" and reshaped his image to a far more mature rational thinker. Which is to be expected as time does with us all.
It has been years since he has had outrageous outlooks and outbursts at least to the best of our knowledge, Hence the Nay sayers have had to dig very deep (16 years and even further back into his past to find Dirt). Does anyone ask why that is?
Now I for one have watched these alleged hate videos. All of which is not what they say it is. Yes, it was unfiltered and harsh names that is considered "Highley" taboo were used but was he actually calling them that. Or was he simply responding to perceived hypocrisy held within SAfrican Society. Harsh words Like the K and N words were used as an expression of his anger knowing full well that those words hurt. Let us face it, we all (in our youthful Vigor of emotional turmoil) have used nasty hateful words in anger. As a tool to inflict maximum pain born directly from our own Suffering and emotional charge. When we are young, we easily hate without recognising the consequences that hate bares. I doubt there is no man alive today who is not to fault for the exact same thing.
Yet as we grow older, we have learnt to rationalise better and find comfort in reason with a far less emotional response that is now blanketed in wisdom. We also have had more years to introspect our positions and change our own minds. Which is what I suspect is the exact case of Renaldo Gouws. The man simply has changed and thus you would be hard pressed to find dirt on the man that smacks of the present.
Whilst this is not to serve as a whitewash of his past but rather a highlighting of his future. To me it is clear he is at least to the best of my knowledge heading in the right direction of unity and equality that shares space with a Highley diversified society.
Perhaps SAfrica needs to practise what it preaches, build a better future for all. That does include people who have made mistakes and at the very least People who have the potential to atone for their sins in the good deeds of their future.
Can we not have hope that Change is possible.
Change is hard to achieve and sometimes hard requires sacrifice of pride, on both sides, both victim and perpetrator.

Where they have ethnic Republics with autonomies who runs their own affairs, but under a federal government system.. Russia has 137 ethnicities with their own languages, They have no tribal problems!!! Racially 92% + are white tribes (69% Slavic)with the rest Asian tribes.. 75% is regional with no ethnic Republics... They also elect their own President (Putin don't belong to any political party).. This is a way better system then the current one!!! It already tells me all I need to know when people endorse and defend very loud and clear racist remarks! His remarks are especially concerning, skirting the periphery of potentially prosecutable hate speech under South Africa's Prevention and Combating of Hate Crimes and Hate Speech Act (Act 16 of 2023). The Act emphasizes the severity of the speech itself, regardless of the original context. While intent can be a factor in some cases, his language is so egregious that it likely qualifies as malicious incitement of hatred against a racial group. This type of speech, even from the past and regardless of platform (including online content), can have serious legal consequences in South Africa.
Hopefully, this serves as a stark reminder of the enduring harm caused by such rhetoric. If his videos were recorded after the Act was passed, it would be appropriately applicable.

At least his man enough to apologize other than certain people who still make racist remarks and get away with it . He deserves a chance and Im sure he will be a great asset for the country . I was in PE on holiday and was amazed when I saw how clean and beautiful the beach front looked and they told me it's because of him so well done Renaldo . Also people of different races were playing soccer and were in such good spirit so it just shows you there are people who can and want to get along with each other . Ernst the issue here has a few moving parts.
Ronaldo is right to feel how he felt, hell I'm coloured and i feel like some of the struggle songs that are inserted at the end of particular speeches aren't doing anyone any favours in terms of moving us past certain wounds.
On the other hand, Ronaldo took a few too many liberty's in using the K and N word, he could of made his point clearly by just saying black people. Boere/bhunu/farmer are not words on par in any way with the K and N word.
The frustration here is doubling because people are defending him saying there's a context for why he's saying what he's saying when in fact there's no reason to use the K or N word and it doesn't matter that this was said 10-15 years ago racism is racism. I can tell you now juju's words and songs are no less hurtful now either.
Ronaldo needs to be disciplined and Andile needs to be looked at too (i haven't reviewed the full insert of what he said and why just yet)

Impossible we can never be equal. Yes we are unique just as others are unique in themselves this is the only way we can learn from each other... As nothing in Nature is exactly the same not even a snowflake... It's time some people learnt grow up and become responsible for themselves...Not to as a Nation nor to as a Country but only to themselves... it's the only can we grow and prosper as a country...As no one in the World is of a singular ethnicity... therefore if we can Share a culture through not trying to better than someone else as it facilitates an Ethnonationality which is dangerous and problematic...As Cleopatra never claimed to be Egyptian although she SHARED their culture for 25 to 30years. When there was much peace prosperity and progress. As everyone wants live by comparison trying to be a wannabe. U cannot be more than what U are...U are not gonna learn anything in life... And just take, like our leaders for example doing and giving nothing back to us South Africans.😢😮😢... So blaming the colour of skin is pointless...Just because U don't look like Cleopatra doesn't mean U not Egyptian...😊😅😂....

I have huge respect for Ernst Roets and this is exactly the reason I am disappointed in his logic in this case. I can only surmise that Ernst and many others have not had the misfortune of witnessing more of the Gouws videos which for obvious reasons have now been removed from public consumption. My basic premise is that if you are unable or unwilling to outright condemn the filth and racism which had been spewed by Gouws then you have no moral right to condemn the utterances of Malema and others.
