My four year old kid just made his own beat with this method. I sequenced his own weird noises and beatboxing. He loved it! Thanks for the always helpful videos.
@@spvidz yep, plus, I think actually when you put a external mic the internal mic is being disabled by default, but the whole video is still super legit
Hey! Cool video! Can you make a video about the process in between sp and spotify(for example). You know, mixing and mastering after sp. will be useful for me and many people for sure!
Does the sample lose a bit of top end when you resample with the SX? It did that on my OG, but I thought it was ironed out with SX and A. It sounds in the video like it loses a bit though
I find that resampling does come with added noise and a little loss in quality yes. Maybe resampling again with a bit of Isolator on could help solve this?
@@spvidz Thanks for letting me know! Yeah I don't mind I was just curious about it. We all like gritty samples anyway otherwise we wouldn't have gone for a 404 ;)
Really like that verbal notes bonus tip, too bad my 303 doesn’t have a built in mic (maybe with the mic in). Don’t think using my phone would be as seamless for that.
Yeah man the internal mic is a great addition to the SP range! I need to remember to use it more. Talking about the 303 also makes me think I need to do more beats with it!
The mic on my SP404A is of the "more noise than signal" kind, to the point where I'm wondering if I got a bad mic or it is just THAT bad. A bit disappointing, I was hoping to be able to catch semi-decent samples around the house without having to lug around an extra microphone. Anyone ever try to replace the internal microphone with a better component? Should be a pretty simple solder job, just wondering if the actual component is the problem or the backing circuit ...
I don’t find it too bad - the on and off is annoying - you have to trim that as obviously the mic records that but I find you can get a relatively clean signal into it. Maybe try recording sounds a bit further away?
@@spvidz Ok really thinking something is wrong with the built-in mic then. Further away is just more silent. Even if I talk loadly straight in the microphone while sampling, with the mic volume turned all the way up, the recorded sample is way more silent than the average level of other samples. I need to use a combination of isolator with all knobs on full + compressor to get some decent volume out of the sample. Do you turn the microphone gain all the way up?
I'm looking at this video and the quality I'm getting is no where near what I hear in that video. Way more hiss for me. th-cam.com/video/7JhD-azMILk/w-d-xo.html
It stands for range as in 'frequency range'. See page 43 in the manual - "Adjusts the frequency response of the playback system." Its the middle dial that creates the noise for MFX 16 and thats displayed with NOS. Thanks for watching man 👍

Thanks for the always helpful videos.
Sample packs are the dark side.
haha thats awesome. Glad the videos are useful!
Always looking at the mic like “when will I utilize you “ this video has definitely helped a lot bro always appreciative!
Nice one man yeah sometimes thinking of ideas for videos pushes me to try new stuff as well. Thanks for watching!
That Coltrane sample, RIP Mac Miller :(
Cause everybody got dead homies 🙏 RIP Mac
The voice note is a great idea. Cool video 👊
Yeah super handy! Thanks for watching :)
love recording weird foley sounds with the mic, never thought of recording voice tags on a free pad though, great idea
Nice one man, thanks for watching!
Do you have to purchase a physical mic? Or is one built into the sampler already?
@@yearofthedragonjane mic is built in. theres also a mic input if you want to use a better mic
damn dope video dude! really inspiring me to go around my neighborhood with my sp lol
haha some things gotta be done man! :)
Already a sub. Great video about the mic. That knock sound turned out really nice!
Appreciate the sub man. Thanks! Yeah with the mfx it’s easy to tweak those sounds and get them sounding real nice!
On the topic of how you can here the “button press”. That would make a nice kick.
I'll have to try that!
I would keep the snare you had and use the knock on the 4th up-beat of the second measure
Very usefull ,very well explained...already using it
Good stuff man!
Have you tried turning the record threshold up? It won't record until it hears noise which should rid you of the button press.
Damn why didn't I think of that! Thanks a lot

How do I turn up the record threshold?
Awesome tutorial, and awesome sample. jhon Coltrane, yeah?
Can’t remember off the top of my head! Thanks for watching man :)
I need to be maaaad saving for one fr! I've been wanting it more every day for the past few years 😂
Also super early that there's only 360p quality :D
When it’s 360 you know you’re a devout follower! 💥
@@spvidz your channel is my religion LOL
you ever get one?
really helpful vids, your pacing is pretty good - do you teach for your day job or something?
Glad to hear that man and no I dont! Just practiced from making vids on here really :)
Bose Speaker & Coin Jar for the win!
haha yeah wasn't a bad combo in the end! thanks for watching man!

Use it wisely!

This sample is on Mac MIller - Diablo?
yeah same sample - I didn't realise he'd used it just a coincidence :)
Your chop was still legit bro. 💕

Hmm that doesn't sound right. I'll try and remember to have a play around tomorrow and get back to you!
@@spvidz Or maybe the other samples in that back are just really loud hmm..
i suggest taking the low end (and maybe some mid) off of textures and snares. kick and bass should fill out most of the low end
Good suggestion man, thanks!
Love me some organics!!
RueTheMaker thanks for watching man!
Nice!
That Coltrane thooo
Can’t go wrong with him 👌
Compression will actually accentuate the roomy sound.
thx for the dopeness =)
No problem - thanks for watching!
