I like the solitude to be honest. But it’s nice to share with selected friends and family now and again. Wildfowling is a solitary sport, in my opinion. If it wasn’t it would be pheasant shooting.
@@CumbrianWildfowler Yeah1 I agree, but we used to shoot in Scotland at Carsthorn on the river Nith Below Criffel mountain. This is one of the most dangerous places to shoot; as the tides roll on top of another with a south west wind (which is the best wind to shoot over there) and the sand is full of quaking spots with under ground streams. You can also get stuck just ankle deep in places. Me and my mate Davey had fantastic flights of Pintail and Pinks. One 1st September morning we had a Canada each. Safer! With fantastic memories and great photos of the bags and dawns.
@@Kevin-tp1se are you in the US mate? Wildfowlers and ducks here are both conditioned to do battle in the darkness. We don’t get ducks flying near sunset like they do over the pond. If we had legal shooting end 30 mins after sunset we would never get a shot as generally that’s when the flight starts. Whether that is an evolved response of the wildfowl to shooting pressure or just the habits of UK wildfowl I don’t know?….
@ Interesting. We probably have a lot more pressure on our waterfowl over here so the general shooting hours are half hour before sunrise to sunset. Except on most managed areas where shooting stops at noon 😳. I’m reminded of pass shooting wood ducks going to their evening roost… they usually wouldn’t start flying until after legal shooting time between sunset and dark 🫣
I’m sold on the 28 bore as a calibre. Not sure about the gun yet but the 28 is so easy to load for and minimises packers etc needed to fill the case when loading with TSS. Im thinking a nice side by side in 28 would be ideal…..trying the various models and calibres is half the fun…
@CumbrianWildfowler I absolutely love mine, its a beretta 691. if its a side by side your after there's plenty of aya no3's knocking about that aren't silly money mate.
Nice one, and it's great to have company instead of having lonely waits for them to arrive.

Sorry Tadhg, I will reply to your email. Just so busy with work and fowling. But o will get back to you mate
Great evening shoot. I just bagged a pair of GWT yesterday. Shooting hours over here end at sunset.

Good stuff, where do you buy your teal decoys?
Final Approach UK. Really good value and you can pack a dozen or so in a big game bag.
Thank you!
Strange company you keep.
