  • Terrell Davis and his family were looking forward to vacationing in California when the NFL Hall of Famer was inexplicably handcuffed and removed from a United Airlines plane. Davis told CNN he felt he was “treated like a convict.” He said while he was being handcuffed, a law enforcement officer told him: “Don’t fight it.” #CNN #News

I am a doctor. I had a similar incident on a plane where I had to use the toilet. However there was a big line and the flight attendants told me to sit down. Then when the line stopped, I went into the bathroom. The flight attendant told me I could not use the bathroom because the fasten seat belt sign was on. I was flying for business. I was unable to urinate my pants to satisfy the flight attendant. I entered the toilet in the plane, and then I sat down. When I exited a plane, the police were waiting. Of course I showed my doctor identification and I provided my side of the story. Long story short, nothing happened to me. However on my return flight, an Air Marshall set right next to me. I knew he was an Air Marshal. I spoke to him about what happened. He apologized to me. Bottom line, flight attendants have too much power. We need to regulate this power. You are innocent until proven guilty. Mr. Davis, Hall of Fame, NFL, please please please sue United Airlines to teach them a lesson. Please do this for me and all of us who have been stripped of our civil rights by flight attendants.

I'm a retired Flight Attendant ... unfortunately I must say, that some of my former colleagues were on an absolute power trip ... and sadly, pilots would back us up out of loyalty to their crew w/o hesitation ... I'm disgusted by what this family had to go through ... it would have never happened on one of my flights ! ... but if it did, I would have raised hell, defending this lovely man/family !

Not necessary in this case. A "He said", "He/She said" won't make this any clearer.
Look, FAs take a lot of abuse on a daily basis, that's why this overreaction happened
... but FAs are trained in conflict resolution ... yet there should not have been a conflict at all ... over a cup of ice ? ... please ! ... Mr. Davis did not assault the FA ... that's my believe ! ... he's a gentleman.

@@aaronwilson8403 Have you ever heard silence speaks VOLUMES!? Terrell and his family have been on a vast amount of media discussing this issue. United nor the suspended flight attendant has said much or anything at all. A WITNESS who was interviewed by the F.B.I. backed up Terrell's account of the story. Terrell is NOT facing any assault charges after being taken away in handcuffs. Of course it would be GREAT to hear the flight attendant's story as well as what the pilots account of what was relayed to them about the interaction. For me when I consider the FBI investigation into the incident as they heard BOTH stories, and the fact that Terrell is NOT charged with a felony, I'd say we KNOW both sides of the story resulted in the innocence of Terrell Davis.

They tried to wake him up and he was so tired from staying up all night to catch the flight! He was fast asleep not bothering anyone and next thing he knows he is being woken up and removed from the plane!! He has no idea what was happening! They said they felt he needed medical attn! I honestly thought I had brought it upright when it was first announced to do so as I'm always good about doing that. On the many flights I've taken the last couple of years, I've observed that flight attendants have become very short, abrupt, and down right rude with even the most respectful of passengers. I'm with Terrell on this one. To any flight attendant reading this, show some dignity and respect towards your good passengers even if you've had a long day and have had to repeat the same things all day long. Show some class!

I've flown dozens of times, and on a few flights, flight attendants (one in each of those few flights) have gaslighted me and intentionally ignored me (but served all other passengers) for basic things like a cup of water. These flight attendants saw an easy target in me and wanted to reflect all their insecurities, their immaturity and their yearn for power/control by intentionally ignoring me and almost wanting me to beg them for basic services which is part of their job anyway. That the person involved gives enough of a damn about you in order to spend their time fucking with you. Some may be out there, but they really aren't that many. You interact with how many randos on any given day? How many would you want to spend any more of your time thinking of or dealing with? Not many, even if one of them moderately annoyed you, you would probably just move on because why subject yourself to more annoyance? If they were someone you dealt with frequently you might but some rando that you are not likely to ever see again, why bother? Now take this airline steward. He deals with way, way more than most do. How many do you think give a damn enough about you than to deal with you is the quickest, most efficient way that their job demands. It takes a bit of narcissism to think that there are that many people that gives the slightest damn about you in anything beyond the general outlook that they have for their fellow humans or the interaction they are currently having with you. Outside of that, you don't exist to most people.

I witnessed an incident not much different than this years ago on southwest heading to new Orleans. It was a football weekend and def loud and crowded flight.
A few rows in front of me a middle aged white woman lets out a yell and there's an awkward silence as everyone starts staring. A very large man (hispanic looking) is apologizing profusely saying he didn't mean to bump into her. He was just trying to get to the restroom. At first glance I can truly understand how it would be an accident this is a plane and this guy was easily in rhe 6'2 240 range. She will not stop yelling at him and a few people sitting nearby came to his defense immediately.
Eventually the whole thing is diffused but when we land its exactly as described in this interview... None of us were allowed to get off the plane to immediately escort him off. And similar to Twrrell, I think the fact that unrelated people sitting nearby were immediately vouching for him I think maybe the police realize she was being a Karen. In fact as we finally were allowed to walk off and I could see him being interviewed there were a couple of other randoms waiting and asking police if they could give a voluntary statement to defend this man.
I later overheard from a different passenger that they heard the flight attendants discussion with the pilot and they all didn't want to call the police but they had no choice as the woman demanded charges.

The more I listened to the interview, the more I became convinced that Terrell Davis had done NOTHING. Tapping someone on the shoulder is a normal, socially acceptable way to get their attention when in a loud space, as long as it is done gently and only very briefly. An investigation is certainly warranted.
