    This is one I never had the pleasure to own. Had an SCX10III, but the two is what made the SCX10 famous. Awesome rig my friend.!! Flawless build.! Huge POV fan.!

      It was kind of the same for me, I got an 10III before I got this! I like my Bronco for the looks and the options but this guy here just goes! Other than getting a tire bound up in a hole or the axle hung on one of the sharp edges it went wherever I pointed it and made no complaints about it. I am very happy with the initial setup and will be tweaking a thing or two to see if I can make it better! Thank you for the kind words and for checking in!

      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I am very pleased with the way it drove! Other than falling into a hole or two and getting bound up or catching an axle an having to back up it went everywhere I told it to without complaint! For a first run I could not have asked for more!

      Thanks Steve, we call this the no plan paint job! I took the paints down to the beach with me with no idea of what it was going to look like! It was actually a pic of Eddie Van Halen's guitar that sparked the idea while I was goofing off on Instagram! I didn't want to go crazy with the stripes but did ant to break up the blue, did not want the blueberry crawler look!!!

    Super nice build! I really like the custom bits with the front and rear bumpers. It really looks awesome on the rocks and once it is tuned will be a serious crawler!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks!! I was really happy with the first drive. I was out there for quite a while and it went wherever I told it to. It did get bound up in the rocks a few times but that is the problem with using these stones is all the tire eating holes!! Other than few axle hang-ups and dropping a tire in a hole it performed great. I need to find some bigger better rocks for it to try! Thanks as always for checking in!!

      Thanks! I tend to bounce around from time to time. I am waiting for all my backorder Tamiya kits to show up so when the rock crawler kits went on sale I couldn't resist! I have always wanted a comp style build like I have seen all over and decided this one would get some of that treatment. More Tamiya stuff is coming and I also have more crawler and vintage RadioShack cars lined up too! I am just having fun and glad you guys are along to share it with!

      Thanks! I took down the 3 colors of paint to the beach with no plan at all on how it was going to look other than having the blue, silve and black in it. I happened to see a pick of Eddie's classis guitar and inspired the theme. I didn't want to go too crazy with the stripes but I like the result.

      Thanks! Sometimes things just work out. I had zero plans for the paint job other than I took those 3 colors down with me to use so those were the only colors I had so I was going to make it work somehow! Thanks!! I appreciate that! I had seen them and really liked the comp crawler style so I figured why not! I really like the body. I have not done any additional trimming on it except round out the bottom corners of the fenders a slight bit more and have not heard the tires rub on it yet! It comes with light buckets and transparent stickers for the lights which I have one there, just have not decided if I want lights or not. It does add detail and depth to the body when you are up close. Thanks for stopping by and checking it out!

    Looks great ! My 10ii has been through so many different bodies and setups. I ended up with a Cliffhanger as well. Vanquish under drive gears in the rear, a set of Yeah Racing Desert Lizzards 90mm, and some brass knuckles would give you some noticeable improvements on the rocks. Also, install an 11 tooth pinion and look up the Holmes Hobbies video on programming the 1080 👍🏻

      See if you can move your rear shock towers all the way towards the transmission and flip them left to right. See if the body posts still line up. If they do you’re good to go with the tail end lower. Better center of gravity and no more rake.

      Thanks bud! I will be looking forward to seeing your build for sure! I will always run the Amazon wheels, to good and cheap not to! The tires from there are kind of hit or miss and I have never had a good set of Prolines on any of mine yet so I decided since this was a comp looking truck might as well toss a few more dollars to give it tried and true tires. The seem to work really good right out of the package and sure they will get better once broken in!

    I enjoyed your video. The truck looks great. I am glad to see you are using some upgrades from Amazon to save a little money. At the beginning of the video you are telling about the electronics you installed. You showed the camera and said it's a Holmes Hobby motor. Then you turn it back toward yourself to verify it and some little thing fell of the truck and rolled away. Where did you buy the motor and esc? Thanks for sharing and you did an excellent job!

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! The little bit that rolled away was the foam body protector ring. It is a little foam donut you can put on the body posts to help keep the paint from wearing off but it also take out the gap from the pin to the post base so the lexan body doesn't rattle around and make so much noise while out driving. I use them mostly to quiet them down! You can find them in most hobby shops, traxxas brand usually of I found a deal on Amazon a while back for a box of 100 of them for only a few bucks - search for Hobbypark 100pcs RC Body Washers (Foam). I got the motor directly from Holmes Hobbies site and the EC I am pretty sure I got from Amazon but you can find them all over, it is one of the most common ones to upgrade to for brushed motor trucks from stocks electronics. Cheap, bulletproof, waterproof and comes with the programmer card to change how it operates!

      Thanks! Yes, that crawlmaster and 1080 combo is great, I have that setup in most of my crawlers and love it! I can do a video of the conformal coating. It will be a learn along with Addam type thing as I have only seen a few videos on it myself!! From what I have seen it is not too difficult but it should be here today so I will be finding out very soon!!!

    The SCX10ii is such a good platform! I love the comp truck look and it really looks like you've got a little extra bit of height and travel under it. Super cool build bud!
    Was this the crawler track you mentioned a few videos back and is it going to get further expansion in the future?

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! It was fun to build up with some upgrades right away. It is stock ride height, I guess maybe the location of the shocks on the towers may be a little different but pretty sure it was built to match roughly the height of the stock build. It could be the cliffhanger body making it look a little taller. I love this body and other than rounding the wheel openings slightly more than the cut line ( like a very tiny bit) it is just how they mark it to be cut and I had no rubbing on the tires at all!! Looks tough and I don't think it got any scrapes out there. It is tucked up perfectly.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And yes, this was the crawler that was going to get the upgrades and will probably get a few more. I may also toss a few upgrades to the one with the Scale Rat body on it. It needs to see how that one does out there first.

Please let me know ow so i can give my poor coconut a break. Thanks bro.

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That I do not have an answer to. You should be able to as long as you can set the switches on it to 100% and 70%(I think, maybe 75) and you map the MFC unit to the controls. Watch a couple of Bob's videos over at his channel Hobbyconcepts and it will walk you through what the settings need to be and you have to figure out the programming setting on that radio to match them as best as possible. I have never owned a radiolink radio but I think that one has enough setting controls it may work. The mapping is a simple process you have to do with all controllers with the MFC and Bob walks you through that step as well. Special steps of resetting the MFC and doing a forward/reverse/left/right movements at full throw to teach it what range the controller throws are.

    Smooth rig Addam!!!! So, after the run, how do you like the servo & tires?

    • @AddamsPlayground
      @AddamsPlayground  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks!!! The tires did very weel for right out of the package. I am sure with another un or two they will be a little better once scuffed in but I am happy with them. I was going to go with Hyrax ones but in damp area this is in the tires would get packed with dirt and lose grip too fast so I went with the more open tread krawlers hoping they will not pack up as fast and shed the dirt faster. The servo seem great, super quiet, it was not even noticeably warm to the touch after driving for 20 minutes out there and plenty strong enough for me. It is not a axle snapping Reefs servo but I don't want to snap an axle! I saw they were like $45 buck on Amazon currently so I will pick up another to have on hand before the prices rise on them!
