    I like the idea of having a drag but I’m hesitant to use them for my sets, what if it snows after you catch the animal but before you check the set. Do you typically find them close even tho you may not be able to track them? I’m just worried about not finding my catch

    Always appreciate your videos. I have been trapping 50 yrs or so. I am still learning though. Always learning. That’s what makes it interesting and fun. I also mark my drag with a flag, like I believe you have done here. Makes it a little easier to find with weather. Thanks for sharing. Added note... I bought the same boots in Alaska off a guy over 20 years ago or better. Still in use, but not as pretty. Hell, I ain’t pretty no more so don’t much matter! Thanks for sharing. Stay well. Peace

    These are good sets. Even better though is when there is more snow. If there is enough snow the best thing to do is dig under the track from the side. don't disturb the track though. set your trap directly under the track. Make sure to not leave any evidence of having been there. Fill in your tracks for a few feet from your set. You need to use a drag on your trap. Make sure and mark the location of your set in some way or you will never find them later if you don't catch anything.

    At the 1:30 mark, you mention that they are stepping over the limb. How far past the limb do you want to set the pan? I have an identical situation I'm working in SE Michigan.

    • @DunlapLures-SheTraps

      4 or 5 inches from the limb.just when they step over it there on the pan

    Because old-fashioned snares only functioned in a lethal manner, snaring was banned in Michigan. But with the modern cable snare and its potential for holding animals alive and unharmed, the snare has been reinstituted as a legal device for Michigan's trappers taking fox and coyote.

    • @DunlapLures-SheTraps
      @DunlapLures-SheTraps  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They are crap.we have the crappiest cable restraints in the u.s.

    • @DunlapLures-SheTraps
      @DunlapLures-SheTraps  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Snaring was never legal so I'm not sure it would be considered bannes

      @@DunlapLures-SheTraps I really have great success with snares (Coyotes), I'm using Dakota Line Ghost snares with 285lb pull away and deer stop at 4.25" to comply with law.
