The customers in your area are very lucky having such a well stocked repair shop with someone who is so knowledgeable in actually repairing the machines. Cheers Dean.
I coordinate a general repair project, and earlier today a customer asked me to repair a Makita hammer drill with poor hammer performance. Thanks to Dean, I felt confident we could take this repair on. Without question one of the finest resources for repair available online, I learn something every time. Keep up the good work!
Looking at that 1st Laser Chaser, not only are you a genius for knowing that parts from a different tool would fit it, but you have the patience of a saint!
Never owned a power tool in my life (beside Dremel, if that can be called power tool :) ), now after watching these videos I started to buy broken drills, grinders, .. :D
had the same issue with the same drill @ 20:42 i dont own a vice so i removed the chuck with the spindle out of the outer casing and baked it on a bed of coals 😂 then i sprayed the spindle with some penetrating oil and managed to hammer it loose. unbelievable how tight they screw those things on
Excellent Dean. I think you missed your calling tho’,.. The way you finagled those copper springs back onto the brush holders on the grinder while holding a tiny torch with ur teeth was very dexterous! I reckon you could be a Veterinarian,..or a gynaecologist!! I’m impressed.
That first grinder, wow ran over it and still wanted it fixing if you can lol. Love the video when you get a discontinued tool & use other parts to fix because you have the know how. I'm like that. fixed a few good tools that gave up before their time. Great video, Enjoyed watching as always.
Another excellent video. I had the same problem with broken springs for the bushes on an old Makita TW0200 110v nut gun and ended up having to buy a used casing from eBay.
Great Vid as usual! Always enjoying them. (Looks like you put the trigger on the 1st Laserchaser in the usual grinder position but then off by 90 degrees for cutting use. Look at 48 mins, compare to 32 mins. Easy to rotate, of course.)
Ah the dreaded stator springs, they are like a lottery; sometimes you get lucky, sometimes they can ruin your day 🤣 They should be available at the Makita metal cutters LW1400/LW1401 spareparts from what I can remember.
Another excellent video Dean, I seem to be hooked on the videos. From your videos I have made my mind up that Makita are better tools then Dewalt and easier to repair.
Have an HR2470 myself, always like it for how well these drills are made for the price you can get them for only around 100€ in my country. Cant fault Makita for that.
59:00 thats the problem with 18v tools, they need to draw too many amps to compete, look at the size of that controller. Only milwaukee and bosch is still insisting in 18v, everyone else already moved to 40v.
I might have to disagree with you Dean , on the first grinder. Car/truck/lory wheels spread weight well. I think it was ran over by a forklift (foam-filled) or skid-steer. 👍
I recently bought a dewalt DCD790d2, first time ever buying such a machine. Wil you please give me your opinion on it? €150 for the drill, 2 small batteries, recharger and case. As always, great job and loved the video!
I think that drill chucks should a universal fitting with 3 external bolts/screws locked onto the drive shaft. What the hell is going on when you have to take the whole Dewalt apart to change a chuck?
I have a similar issue with my dewalt chuck and fancy a change of drill possibly the naked DCD999. Will it have similar problems or should I bite the bullet and get a makita or Milwaukee kit if they are better build quality?
just like must of them now. The good made in china ones say it proudly. The cheap branded ones try to make it look like its made in germany by including the business address, and have made in china of PRC hidden in the corner. Thats what i see bosch doing now.

You make the world better by fixing what's broken :)

Dean is my Zen Guru, all I need is a nice cup of tea and Dean working his tool wizardry !
God bless you Dean 🙏🏻
I use the tiny drill bits a lot. Have one 'special' drill set aside for the tiny bits alone.
Anyway, that's her, up and running again and ready for work 😉

In the first minute- a classic something’s run over my grinder situation 😂
I genuinely think thats the first Milwuakee tool ive seen you actually get up and running..😆
Splendid video from a wizard. Thanks Dean.
The Dewalt parts for the chuck would have been a time consuming repair to reassemble for a first timer.
Merry Christmas!

Nice job Dean!!!
That's her ,another good one 👍
Never been this early for a tool repair video!
Nice to see the henry wilsons(stilsons) being used......👍

The most comfortable cordless grinder I’ve used, goes to Makita.
And the most comfortable corded grinder I’ve used, goes to Bosch
I agree, thats why I have a bosch gws 7-115 240v and a makita 18v, Plus for a 5inch i went with dewalt corded and for 4 inch iv an only hitachi
I wonder if impact wrench might be faster option to remove the chuck…
Thanks Dean!!!

What the hell is going on when you have to take the whole Dewalt apart to change a chuck?
Hey dean how often do you have to maintain a service clean and lubricate DeWalt drills ?much knowledge is appreciated thanks
That would be like only fools and horses clip with trigger and his brush
Dean you have a new colour hammer every time you pull one out. 😂 That orange and blue one is cool. What brand is that?
I’m looking at buying a first set of proper tools, kits around 1 grand. Milwaukee or Dewalt and why? Cheers
Can you get m12 gen 4 impact driver clam shells separately or is it a new tool required
What grease do you use for gears?
Why would you want to hold the butt in the vice? 😂
I have a similar issue with my dewalt chuck and fancy a change of drill possibly the naked DCD999. Will it have similar problems or should I bite the bullet and get a makita or Milwaukee kit if they are better build quality?
What did the fella using the grinder look like, tall and thin 😂
Christmas special episode when?😂
So that grinder gets repaired for free due to warranty? Doesnt look like manufacturer fault rather than abuse from over working it
Well, where on earth can you buy Mellif drills,is it a secret?
None on their 'site'.
think they became populare after that last video. Everyone is saying that, id say they are out of stock now,
I cant' find that Mellif drill advertised anywhere. Anyone else know if it's available somewhere?
When you think of BOSCH you think of Germany not China, it says on the sticker Made in China lol
just like must of them now. The good made in china ones say it proudly. The cheap branded ones try to make it look like its made in germany by including the business address, and have made in china of PRC hidden in the corner. Thats what i see bosch doing now.
@deandohertygreaser paying premium prices for no doubt substandard quality materials.
