    Great video Tom. I like the way you think. I can tell you that I never would have gotten it together without being able to control the coolant temp in my humble Falcon. That alone is what made the difference in getting to the ST finals in '19. This year I've added an even more accurate and broadly swept temp gauge. Also I'm thinking of adding a trans temp gauge and a remote small fan for the cooler. That Jones pump may be a bit of overkill for me but I'll bet it gives you a big advantage at running deadnuts on your dial in the finals. This kind of stuff does make a difference.

    • @GallStarTV
      @GallStarTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      exactly.. and honestly when it's final round time I don't want to worry about temps so much. I would like to focus on my game and not as much the car if that makes sense. So the Jones pump just helps take one concern out of the equation 👍

    Awesome video Tom. I’ve been looking at the Jones pump it looks like a killer piece. The wiring job is really coming together. Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks man! Glad you liked the video. Now you can go grab yourself a jones pump for 5% off.. maybe it was worth the wait?? 🤷🏻‍♂️

    I have a question on the Jones transmission cooler when the pump is activated and it's pushing fluid through the block is it just cooling the oil in the pan or is it pushing the oil back through the out port side of the transmission to push the oil through the converter and back into the pan so it's cooling the whole transmission.
    Thanks for your help
    Can you explain how the aluminum block works

    Was your pump loud? How long does it take to cool and from what temp? What cooler are you using? Love the videos from you thanks for all the help.

    Great video Tom! I have a few questions. 1. Do you use the pump when making a run? 2. Will the pump move fluid when in the pits and the car isn't running? 3. If you don't use the pump when making a run will it still pass fluid through it?
    Thanks !!
    Scott O

    • @GallStarTV
      @GallStarTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Scott O hey scott! You do not run the pump when the car is running. That’s what the relay is for, it doesn’t allow the pump to run if the ignition is on. It’s designed to only be able to pump fluid in the pits when the ignition is off.

    • @GallStarTV
      @GallStarTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      And for question there, my understanding is that no fluid passes the pump when the car is running. That’s what the distribution block does I think. When the car is running the transmission and transmission cooler work as if they are pumped together “normal”. When the pump is turned on it moves a valve inside the block and pumps the fluid them through your cooler 👍👍

    I put a pump on my car last year. In my research talking with my trans guy I was told there is a shuttle valve in the valve body that will not let that pump circulate thru the converter unless there is modification done internally.
    If you go on FTIs TH-cam page they have a video explaining that modification.
    You are just circulating what’s in the pan and cooler sorry to tell you.

      You're right Jim. I didn't have the correct understanding when I made the video. I've been called out on this a couple times now 😬

    What’s unique about the distribution block? Is it just a 1 in 2 out or something special inside?

    • @GallStarTV
      @GallStarTV  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Greg Leonard to my understanding the block is what let’s the fluid flow through the cooler as if it were plumbed “normally” to the transmission when the car is running (and pump is off and cannot be turned in). When ignition is off and the pump is turned on it moves a valve inside the block and pumps the fluid through the cooler. I’m pretty sure that’s how it all works.

    Hey buddy hru doing and feeling I hope well I know this is an old video but I'm just getting to it LOL. But I was wondering when do you activate the Jones Transmission Pump and do you let it circulate while your in the pits after your pass and how does that interfere with the Main Transmission Pump internally I'm just trying to figure out how this works buddy 👍🏽👍🏽
