Air dry clay is best if painted after you make your handles then let them dry. You can paint any colour you like and varnish after. Another pretty idea is to use Modge Podge and decoupage the handles with single layer of tissue napkins and then varnish. By adding acrylic paint into the air dry clay you are playing with the chemical reaction that make it stable when dry.
Thank you for the idea! I just got my artist daughter into crochet. She uses this clay so I will be asking for some handmade personalised handles for my "Susan Bates hooks" as an xmas gift as my main hold is the knife. Love your vids...Thank you again
Much easier to make the handles and when they are dry then paint them any colour you like or use Modge Podge with a single layer of pretty napkins. Them finishwith a varnish. Also you can use a pan covered with a lid of tin foil on top to bake Polymer clay. Just take out side to open and let any fumes out in the air. There is not much in the way of fumes as it is baked at low temp for short time.

Hi, thank you for the tutorial, do you still use these hooks? How they're holding up? Would love to read your experience with them. 🧶🧶

Great experiment!! Gonna do this for some for my mom!
How did it hold up over time??
How do you know which size they are please
scratched the size into the bottom before it dried for some, painted the size on after it dried for others
I thought you were to paint it after it dried.
Thats messy lol❤
