Alex was like a religion in our house when I was growing up. The poor bugger starved to death. He beat the old cancer and died of malnutrition. The WPBSA should be ashamed.
@David stopbrexit as a teenager, I loved watching him play. His unpredictability made him so exciting to watch. Ronnie O'Sullivan may be brilliant, but boring because he hardly ever makes a mistake.
@David stopbrexit it is obvious you are not going to allow me to have my own opinion......so we will just say that you are right and I am wrong.........about everything. I have better things to do with my time 😘😘
Glad i was there watching all the legends of snooker in the 70' 80's & 90's. Not the same without alex & jimmy playing. Only ronnie left now to entertain us all. An end of an era.
Watching the last interview with alex I was in tears, knowing how long he had left,he was a master of the game as always will,I will always love you alex you were my hurricane, and will never be forgotten, rest in peace my friend thank you for your entertainment of watching you playing so fine, rest in peace now,you may be gone but your not forgotten amen,😘🌈🌹☀✌✊👏😘🌈
Higgins was one hell of a character , he really was a driving force behind snookers popularity back in the day...such a shame to see him ravaged by illness here RIP Hurricane
Alex was the best I've seen play Snooker. The way he could pot balls that at first look were impossible to pot. He gave the crowd what they wanted. That's why he is known as the People's Champion.
A fact about Alex - his mother used to make pots of jam & Alex would sell them outside a snooker hall on the Donegall Rd so he could go in to play snooker when he was a kid. They ended up calling the club The Jampot.
@@Billdick360 sorry that you think that was made up, my family was born & raised on the Donegall Rd from the 1940s. My grandmother went to church with Alex's mother Elizabeth & my mother used to hang around with his sister Ann who done hairdressing from her house on the Donegall Rd.
@@thequietman5554 Hi mate. No one is denying that you have a family connection with Alex Higgins. But Alex NEVER mentioned any such story in his interviews. He DID mention the Jampot snooker club in documentaries which can be found on TH-cam. Nobody will believe you mate - unless you can provide evidence from Alex own interviews (or his sisters interviews) where they have mentioned such a story. His sisters have also appeared in the same documentaries and they have also spoke about the Jampot snooker club and they NEVER mentioned your story. As for me, i dont really give a shit how that snooket club was actually named. And just for your information mate - Alex Highins was NOT the best snooker player who ever lived. He was very far from being that. But i loved Alex Higgins because he loved Black & Asian people and he can be seen hugging Blacks and Asians after winning some of his titles in the 80's. Look it up geezer. The video clips are all over TH-cam. Just search for the finals of his major wins on TH-cam and watch the final frames and the aftermath of those wins. Alex Higgins was the first snooker player in history to bridge the gap between both Black people and White people and unite both races together. He love Black and Asian people which is why i liked him. As for his snooker skills - they were great - but not the best. Statistics dont lie. Ok mate?
Thanks for posting Liam. It's fascinating footage, and I'm old enough to remember Alex in his prime. I'm torn, as on one hand it's amazing footage, but on the other, it's sad to see Alex like a shell. I guess we all live our lives how we want to, and he certainly did.
I followed SIR Alex Higgins to the toilets at Norbreck castle as a kid with my new brown 3 piece leather snooker cue case once and asked him to sign it during one of his matches - he was so pi**ed off and said its not how to approach someone but guess what he signed it for me... LEGEND AND GOD BLESS HIM from Blackpool !!!
The same legend who, when an excited youngster showed him his "alex higgins" cue he got for Christmas, in the Masters club in Stockport was told "i wouldn't give it house room". Nice person ? Not at all
This is when snooker was always on tele alot great players my dad loved Alex used to watch him together and alan white real shame how Higgins went was a great entertaining player both fast players brilliant to watch rip Alex
How close Jimmy and alex were,I lived watching them playing snooker together, they were like butcher Cassidy and the Sundance kid,🌈😘🙌,rest in peace alex you were true to the end ,God bless you ,rest now,you my be gone but ur not forgotten,🌼🌈☀🌹

Did he beat Jimmy on the night? If so what score? People criticized him,but be far worse if they had the life style!!! Just arseholes,he made the game watchable, made white,O'Sullivan etc
A woman i know who worked at a snooker Hall in Bournemouth told me of when Jimmy White used to come in and practice when he was in a exhibition at the bic in Bournemouth. He got one of members to get him some coke and a hooker but they fixed him up with this guy wife who were swingers, he's not fussy she's no oil painting. This was over a decade ago.
Snooker is so boring mostly apart from watching Ronny but can you imagine what it was like before Alex Higgins dragged it into the big time, another crazy genius
I like the story of when Higgins went out on a bender with Oliver Reed, and they ended up taking the drinking back to Reed's house. Apparently the next day someone came over to get Higgins only to find him hanging from an upstairs window with Reed standing below throwing hatchets up at Higgins and cursing! Goodness knows what went on.
Such a shame so many sports professionals turn to drugs and alcohol, god gives them a gift from the day they're born, look at the money they earn? I've read that Alex was worth 4 million at one stage of his life to then live of £200 per week off benefits Such a shame the drink got the better of him , he was probably the most entertaining snooker player as well as Jimmy white , good players nowadays but just not in their league. Such a shame when you see him like this
The legend never dies...hurricane Alex always to be remembered in the game
My dad got me an Alex Higgins autographed cue 37 years ago. It has been around the world several times but always with me🙏🏼
Alex will always be my hero. As a kid, whenever he lost, I’d cry. I just connected with the man, even as a snooker mad child.
I love him to he was what all of as want to be he was a great man and of the day we all make mistakes you know what iam saying
Nice to know that you connected with a druggie, alcoholic, wife beating thug.
Ceejay 21868 You love George Best
Same here, me and my dad would be on the edge of our seats watching him and would be so gutted whenever he lost. There was just something about him.
Alex was like a religion in our house when I was growing up. The poor bugger starved to death. He beat the old cancer and died of malnutrition. The WPBSA should be ashamed.

@GLENLYNAS His name is stopbrexit. This tells you the mentality of the berk!! I've emailed his mother and she's going to ban him from the Internet.
I saw Alex in keynsham near Bristol, He was unwell and very thin. But as soon as he walked into the room you knew the great man was with us.
