I put a CR2032 in there instead because you can get them 3/$1 at Dollarama. The clip didn't clip in all the way but the screwed in back holds it just fine. Works great! Thanks for the video, on my own I was scared I'd break the arms spread open like that.
You can get the wrist straps off easily (you only need one off) I just used a toothpick in the tiny hole in the plastic watch housing and that released the typical watch band spring post. A little tricky getting it back in as you have to compress spring post with toothpick or small flat pearing knife and slide band back in. Much easier to get back plate off and you don’t risk damaging band. BTW I used a 2032 battery (thicker) and left out the battery clamp…seems to work fine..
Thank you, My horse appreciates your help. Polar uses this watch for their Equine monitor as well. I also saw the video for the Polar chest strap battery replacement. Going to try watch battery first and then the strap if necessary.
A replaced in a similar way time ago, but I had a problem time later. Formation of moisture inside, due to (as per the Polar official assistance) humid air penetrated inside the day I opened the cover. Humid air (with cold environment) released moisture. What's your experience on that? Maybe air blasting (with dry air from a sealed cylinder as those for photocameras cleaning) can improve this ollateral problem?
I don't think so without cutting it open. I think those, they want you to send back to the factory. It might be cheaper to buy a new strap. At that point, it might be worth it to cut the old one open carefully and see if you can replace the battery and then glue it shut again.

Hi. I replaced the battery (thank you) but I need to reset the watch to the correct time. I have not used it in a couple of years and I do not have the instructions. Can you please help with resetting my Polar FS1. Thank you
1.The video does not address the seal made of "rubber" in the rough shape of a square, which seals the metal backing of the watch to the plastic housing. If you get moisture in the viewing area of the watch after battery replacement, you might consider replacing the seal as well. But Polar are tighter in the ass than than any seal, so they don't supply them ( I hear ). 2. The straps come off easily so you can do battery replacement without the straps on. You just poke a pointy tweezer into the hole on the side of the strap and the spring loaded pins which hold the strap on, do compress, then straps come away. 3. Position your watch on the surface by sitting it on a piece of Blutack. 4. Best not to handle the battery with raw skin as it reduces the battery life - put on some snug thin stretchy latex gloves. Kevin Jackson Delayed response, because I don't check gmail regularly, as I use hotmail mainly. The spring loaded pins are a watch industry standard way of attaching straps to watch body. You just poke one end of the pin in the hole at one end of the watch body, as a starting point, and then compress the other end of the pin and it will work it's way into the hole at the other end of the watch body.

Phillips #00 works best or a 5/64 flathead. the 32pc kit from harbor freight works well but the 6pc kit doesn't have a small enough phillips.

Does the chest strap need's the changing battery too , and does it have any battery in it ?
Some of them are replaceable. So need to be sent back to the factory. Personally I have gone gone wrist mounted USB charged HR monitors.
I have replaced the battery in the watch multiple times and never had that issue. I guess replace the battery in a warm dry place?
