Welcome back dude!! Thank you so much for your MCAT tip videos. I am studying for the exam this summer and they've been a life saver. You def deserve the love and support. Good luck with everything in your future!
Bro I used to watch your videos as motivation to study hard and get into med school. Now I just finished my first year and I see that you've graduated, congratulations!
Which country are you in? How much of a result is needed in the A/Ls to get selected to Med school? I am a Sri Lankan and we need an Z score of 2.5 to get selected. Which is about 2A passes and a B pass.
@@Photo_doctor Hi, I'm in Quebec (Canada) and we need an R Score of about 35, which is the equivalent of a Z score of 2, or 2 standard deviations from the average. On top of that, we have 2 interviewing phases, the first one eliminates about 75% of students, and the second one about 50% of students.
“Could never be me, are you sure about that.” I’m adopting this line of thinking. Your re-routing of positive thinking is already starting to show! Thank you and congratulations on MD
I used to watch your videos for inspiration when I was studying for the LSAT for law school. I just graduated as well, about to take the Bar, and am starting my career at a large international law firm in October. Glad to have you back and that you’re thriving! Mashallah🙏🏽
As an ICU nurse for the last 17 years, I can tell you that you need to enjoy your work, be humble, laugh, joke around when you have some down time and the nurses will take care of you. Your story is very inspiring, you have a great and positive attitude. Time will fly by. Next thing you know, your residency will be over. Take care.
Omg, it kinda makes me emotional watching this from seeing the med school vlogs and then now ur a doctor! Your constant motivation is what’s gonna keep motivating people! So proud of your continued growth! ❤️
So glad that you're back. I've been missing your videos because you are an amazing motivation for me to keep studying and striving. Your time management skill is outstanding. Being able to do residency and filming, editing together is just top tier. I am still looking forward to any of your new videos in the future. Thank you 🎉
THANK YOU for posting!!! Med student here, and I'm constantly in search of vlogs where healthcare workers are able to balance exercise and eating well with studying/working. Inspiration. You're killing it, keep it up!
I remember when we were both medical students, and now we’re on our respective residency training! How time flies so fast. Best of luck to us both Dr. Shahin🙌
I remember watching your videos when I was doing my prereqs for nursing school, trying to stay motivated lol, and now here I am about to graduate nursing school 🎉, congrats on becoming a doctor! I’ve been trying to work through my anxiety as well, everyday is a journey
Got business taken care of and now is a whole doctor 👨⚕️ love to see it! 💯 use to watch just to motivate my studying and have videos playing while I studied myself.
I started following you during my junior year of high school when I committed myself to medicine, now I'm going into my senior year of undergrad eagerly awaiting the results of med school applications. It's such a trip to see how you've progressed to this point, you are truly an inspiration keep it up man.
The best advice I learned from several different clinicians through the years I was in school - those letters behind your name mean nothing if you are not constantly working to fulfill their meaning. So every day you need to put your best foot forward, treat everyone (coworkers and patients) with respect, know your patient comes first even if you are supposed to be getting off shift (so even if you have to stay late you do whatever your patient needs), show appreciation for everyone you are learning from (doctors, nurses, technicians, specialists), and know you are only as good as your patient thinks you are. The last one is probably the hardest to learn. You can be an awesome doctor but your patient may not think so if you have failed to show them you care, if you look and sound like an idiot (you are incompetent and you don’t know what you are doing) or if you have a God complex ( you think you know everything already so you don’t need to consult, refer, or ask questions), if you lack compassion for your patient, or you don’t really listen to your patient (sometimes you have to REALLY listen to hear what your patient is saying). Everyday you step into your white coat you have to re-commit to your hippocratic oath. You no longer allowed to have a bad day. Your patients and coworkers have their own stresses, and don’t deserve to be burdened by yours. If you are having a bad day ask yourself what you need to do to act professionally. You may be able to leave, but more likely you need to adjust your own attitude so everyone can get through the day. Your attitude, good or bad, will be reflected back to you by the people you are around. Don’t be afraid to admit you don’t know something. But commit to the idea that you will get the correct answer for your patient and you will return to them with that answer. Remember tho-You will only get respect from that patient if you actually follow through with getting the answer to them. Half a$$ing it is not allowed. So good luck and cheers!
@@Coconinga If you are doing what you are really passionate most of these things come quite easily. The doctors that thrive are the ones that these things come naturally. Of course no one can do all of these things all of the time. That isn’t human. If you have a death in your family your team at work will grieve with you, because you (hopefully) care for each other. But if you are starting shift with a dirty dr’s coat and a tear stained face, then you need to step back and ask yourself why. Not everyone is cut out to do human medicine. There is no shame in that. It takes all of us doing whatever it is we do that keeps the world going.
@@abraarhuq9221 Hopefully you learn to balance everything so you aren’t doing all of one thing and none of the other. Taking care of yourself is very important. No one else will do it for you, and you can not help others if you are not taking care of yourself. But really it isn’t hard to prioritize helping others too. If you can’t figure out the balance then you will be miserable. But if you can’t uphold the oath you took for your profession, then you shouldn’t have taken the oath in the first place.
@@ahoward3819 no one said that I wouldn't uphold the oath, and obviously we want to help the patients. i'm just saying ur rhetoric shaped by your original comment has been used in the past to justify how medicine is a pure "passion" field that can justify its abuses to the residents and the shrinking autonomy it gives to physicians. of course each person has to take care of themselves but sometimes its good to ask how the physician is doing not just the patient. my two cents. 🤷♂
I watched your videos back when you were a second year med student and got so many tips from you for studying for the mcat. I’m so proud of you! You locked in and came back a doctor!
Thank You for getting into debt and spending the rest of your life to help people. I’ve had family members go into ICU for various medical reasons, some come out and some don’t. ICU/ER doctors have my outmost respect and admiration. Take care Doc 🫡
Appreciated this video- as a 46 yo f patient who has FSGS (relapse) undergoing PLEX AND retuximab right now. I’m on day 2 of my hospitalization of a relapse of min 10-11 days. Inpatient. It’s freaking hard as the patient. To see doctors like yourself care so much is helpful. Shiley placed. That’s where I’ve got so far. Need 5-7 PLEX AND 2 retux. This is a teaching hospital on LI. It’s very awesome to hear your words honestly! I know these residents and fellows are new this month for the year… but to see you understand the gravity of your position is very assuring.
I dont usually comment on youtube but this time i had to. I watched you throughout med school and im now a few months before my internship year in Germany dealing with the reality that being a student is almost over. Seeing that you have graduated made me feel so happy for you. Your genuine nature and humbleness are what make you unique on this platform and i hope that doesn't change.
