    Why are you always looking only at the highest cards. You cant say AMD or NVIDIA is better in this category because their highend card performs the best there that says nothing about the mid/lower range. Less than 5% will be able to afford the best of the best. What is way more interesting is looking at which cards perform the best for their price. Also whenever you say „the more expensive“ or „cheaper“ card please include prices. This statement is meaningless for people who don’t have every card and their price memorized.

      I found it pretty well done. Depending on the prices in your region, you make a choice. For me the 7700xt is under 380$ resealed which is a no brainer considering it's better in every test appart from gpu effects compared to a rtx 4070 lets say, which is now about 500$, albeit with 40-45w less consumption.

      The 4k and 8k scores are encoding scores, so if you look at the % difference, then you can figure out the time saved respectively. • @danp2306
      @danp2306 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The 7900 GRE is heavily gimped - you'd have to compare specs with where the 7900 xt and 7800 xt are positioned in (puget systems) benchmarks? Personally, I wouldn't bother with that gimped card unless you need to because of price. I'd pick a nvidia card over it if possible, too.

      @@danp2306 thanks for the answer. I don't play games and don't do 3d modelling so most of the Nvidia benefits are of no use to me. If I were interested in games or using blender I'd definitely go that way, but AMD seems a much better choice since I'm only interested in Davinci Resolve performance. The question remains: is the GRE closer to the 7900 xt or the 7800 xt. Currently in the UK it's like 50 pounds more for each step up (460, 510, 560) if you find a good deal, but what's the better overall deal?

I imagine that the 7900 GRE score/performance might between the 7900 xt and 7800 xt since it's closer to a 7900 xt in some areas and closer to the 7800 xt in others. In gaming, it's closer to the 7800 xt so resale value might reflect that - if you ever decide to sell at a later date.

    I upgraded my card from an rtx 3070ti to a AMD Radeon 7900 XTX. Absolutely massive. Sure it is more expensive 900 bucks vs 700 for the rtx back at the time. But multiple times faster. The 8gb vram was a massive bottleneck that didnt allow me to multi task. I often need to record additional clips while editing. Which meant I had to constantly open and close obs, the game, and davinci back and forth. Now I can just have all 3 run side by side with no issues. The NV1 encoding at 4k looks really good. I still need to find the sweetspot. I just put it on 10 in obs which creates huge files. But sure it looks like butter I can say so much.
    I noticed that when I record that there is a different color profile or something. I havent looked into it. But it just so happened that it looks perfect. Giving me the right amount of contrast and colors that I had to tweak manually in the past with the Nvidia Experience overlay. So I am not complaining. The timeline performance is much much better than anything the could the RTX3070 could put up giving me smooth 60fps unless they are uncached heavy fusion effects. Transitions for the most work smoothly. Rendering is multiple times faster. One very big project kept just crashing on my rtx. Needed 3 or 4 attempts to render it and took 4h to complete. The XTX breezed through in 45 minutes. First try. Best upgrade I ever had.

      So you don't have any crashing issues or bugs while editing? I'm considering the 7900xtx but I'm worried about compatability with davinci. Also which brand 7900xtx do you have?

    • @NeoStarImpact
      @NeoStarImpact 22 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @BJMolette I do have the TUF variant. With Davinci I haven't faced big issues. Definitely not more than Nvidia. However the NV1 encoder crashes within OBS. As I do record from the game and drop clips directly to Davinci. So I switched back to h.265 and this works without a hitch. Maybe it is a OBS problem as davicinci itself encodes in av1 too when I export clips and that one doesn't cause issues.

    The encoder quality is interesting. Thing is the AMD encoder has improved in the last year or so. Before that it didn't use I-frames, if I remember correctly. It's been a while and a bout of brain damage since I worked with low level video encoding, so it might have been something else. But the result was a worse encoding result at a given bitrate. Even after that was fixed it's still not able to encode as well as Nvidia or Intel. So at the same visual quality AMD will require a higher bitrate and the resulting files will be significantly bigger.
    An interesting thing with the ARC cards is that if you have a Intel CPU with integrated GPU it can work as a second encoder together with the ARC GPU improving performance by, I think it was either 30% or 70%. it's a while since I read about it so I can't remember which.

    • @danp2306

      That's interesting. That's one thing ppl don't usually consider when considering/comparing gpus. So, a 4070 Ti Super may have less vram and be less effective in gaming but for video editing and DR, is it worth getting over a 7900 xtx for that reason? Puget Systems didn't analyze that topic. 🙂

    I also learned that Nvidia 4000 series cards are good because they have AV1.
    My question is: if I plan to get a 4060 or 4060ti and the plan is to use AV1 in DaVinci Resolve, do I still need Intel's iGPU? Because I think the iGPU only helps with H264 and H265 right? hey,.
    why 4090 perform well in 4k,8k,and effects ,but not in fusion?
    last oct i did some test (13600k+3060ti) with this,.
    mostly, 4k have 6test which some bottleneck cpu some bottleneck 3d engine and some bottleneck encode&decode engine;
    and effects have 8 test which always bottleneck 3d engine;
    but fusion not bottlenecked by cpu/gpu/3d/encoders/decoders ;; (AFAIK it maybe bottleneck by other factors which reduce 4090 score huge)

    Why are old server GPUs with 24+ Ram, slower than modern GPUs with less Ram?

    • @blahorgaslisk7763
      @blahorgaslisk7763 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Server GPU's are generally lower wattage and thus run slower frequencies. They also tend to have ECC memory, or at least old versions did. That also slows down the performance a little. Those are my general guesses. Well there's also the GPU they use. Older versions are generally slower for most things.

      @seppuku6667 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello, there is no reason to laugh about it, any CPU you can afford or already had is good don't be ashamed of it
      For this CPU you could try gtx 1060 which has 5 GB VRAM or RX 580 which has 8, its a matter of preference as I do not know tho which one performs better in editing, nvidia has better technology to say so but the RX gives u much better raw specs, I cannot tell you exactly which to pick but the RX 580 seems a bit safer and can be easily found used. Gl with your build and only upgrade when u feel that its a good time for you to do it, no reason to get new ultra performant tech if you must do hardcore economy for it.

    • @seppuku6667
      @seppuku6667 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      To add to it, do some research about how to benchmark a GPU to make sure its good and things you should look for when buying SH, going for good refurbished cards could be the best as well rather than an individual seller, look for ratings as well please and don't rush the process, for any pc is a month of research and looking for good deals but just a very small amount of time of building.

      what is your build?
      something like a 13700K/14700K+4080 SUPER/7900XTX is great for content creation imo. You can alternatively get a 7900X3D, but in general its similar(or sometimes lower performance than a 13700K) while costing more. If you are going top end, best option is 7950X3D + 4080 SUPER/7900XTX for content creation, unless you are willing to run the 14900K at non-baseline profile, which does give better results due to QuickSync.

      @@nxrfme2623 That's unbalanced. You should have bought a 7800X3D which doesn't require an AiO for cooling and it destroys the 14700K in gaming while still being a good CPU in professional tasks. • @seppuku6667
      @seppuku6667 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Hello, I saw you mentioned just 750W gold power supply, please do check the PSU tier list and see in what tier is your power supply and since you're already spending quite some money make sure you get an A ranking PSU for best security (Personally I'd recommend Corsair RM850E which is A tier in there and costs around 120$ or so)
      Switching to AMD might benefit as intel 14th proved rather unstable with the default mobo settings (this can also impact performance as they were drawing so much power they were wearing themselves out to have better numbers in benchmarks, with normal power they might have less performance than usually presented in clips, AMD is more stable rn)
      This would save you a lot of money since you could also switch to a good AMD AM5 motherboard which is usually cheaper than intel LGA 1700
