Fun fact: Originally Hercules was meant to appear in God of War 2. He was meant to go out in a VERY anticlimactic way, simply dying by getting crushed by a door when attempting to open it. Even tho it would’ve been funny, I’m really glad we got this badass fight instead

@@cloudshifter Dear lord, GoW3 would not be the same without the Hercules fight. This is one of the highlights of the game for me. I replay it so often.
In my opinion, this is one of the best fights in the series. I mean, of course there’s amazing fights like taking down Ares, Poseidon, Zeus, etc, but fighting Hercules is just so much different. Almost everyone knows him as this unbeatable, heroic demigod who was able to kill so many creatures and monsters that no man could, and is arguably the most well known part of Greek mythology. But then playing through the game and fighting him as Kratos just says so much. It shows just how powerful Kratos is, and that truly no one can stand in his way, not even the unstoppable and famous Hercules. Truly amazing.

its because kratos is one of zeus children, and he is the killer of gods, and the marked warrior because deimos was supposed to be the marked warrior but it was kratos this entire time, thanathos thought deimos was going to end the whole world, but it was kratos who destroyed the whole world.

Ascension was an excellent game with one of the best portrayals of Kratos yet. One of the reasons why? His skin ACTUALLY looks like is covered by white ash. That and he had an actual ally for once. Ascension is incredibly underated. Not to mention that multiplayer. Anyone interested should definitely try it out.

This battle is arguably one the deepest ones
Hercules believed what Kratos did in Chains of Olympus, that Olympians can help him rid of his nightmares of his past deeds which both of them did accidentally.
Both of their lives were messed up by the Olympians (Mother and Son) and both seeked their aid and got shit in return
Both of them were slaves of the Olympains (Kratos being much more hot headed snapped earlier)
And that is probably why Kratos offers Hercules 2 chances of not fighting since both lost their family due to Olympians and only prepared to fight when Hercules claimed to crush Kratos.
Kratos and Hercules even called each other Brothers.
The difference is that the gods actually did take away the nightmares of Hercules. And so he had no beef with any of them. Especially the gods like Apollo, Helios, Artemis, and Hades who helped him on his journey

There's something about this fight and boss that makes it so much better. Better in *Kratos*.
You see, Kratos is nothing compared to the muscles of Hercules. When you see Hercules you feel like he can crush Kratos, who is literally 50% less buff and tall... just, less big.
Even though Kratos has taken down enormous beasts, here, somehow he stands out. He's fighting his brother, a fucking HULK. Even so, Kratos just owns HERCULES. The real star of this track and battle is Kratos. How he just EXCCEEDS Hercules in strength is unbelievable. How he completely destroys his face, enraged, nothing can stop him.
This battle shows everything in Kratos: Nothing can stop him, not his brother, not Hercules, not the gods. His rage and his will _will_ always be greater the his foes'.

I felt the same way about this boss fight,like even though Kratos has fought huge monsters before and each time i was certain of his win,but when i first played this battle the first time,i thought to myself, well shit maybe Kratos could be beaten after all,this battle was perfectly made that it showed the true power and rage of kratos.

Hercules real name is heracles. Hercules is the roman name for him and i think the game should have choosen the greek name instead.

The truth is, Hercules has more strength than Kratos, even more than any other gods out there, still, in battle, strength alone would not always help you win a battle. Kratos has skills, speeds, strengths, and guts. Ares truly succeeded in turning Kratos into a perfect warrior.

Very fitting that Hercules' boss fight is a rendition of Kratos boss fight.
Hercules sees himself as Kratos did in the beginning of GOW II, a god denied his right to rule by the folly of others and he marches forward, stomping any in his way who would stop him from taking what is rightfully his.
For Kratos, this is probably both poetic and cathartic, he gets a chance to vicariously brutalize the form of himself that he despises the most. The gods' unthinking attack dog, resolute in the faith that they fulfill their promises no matter how many times they disrespect and lie to him.
In the end, one brother will find peace, the other truth.

God of war 3 is one if the greatest games of all time, say what you want about it not being an emotional a$$ story with drama acting, but nothing can top this game on being a badass, and nothing beats the cutscenes on making it more cinematic, the action literary still holds up to today

og trilogy was how Kratos was just a mortal entangled as the plaything of the Gods, constantly manipulated and taken advantage of. He tries to end it all and they don't let him die in peace. In the first and second game you still help some people here and there. The trilogy talks about how Kratos starts to lose his humanity little by little until by the third game he has become a complete beast slashing away friends and foes alike. It is Pandoras innocence that brings out that little of humanity Kratos has left and re egnites his spirit of hope that he can find atonement for his actions.
"Oh but now Kratos is a father", yeah, rememberer the family he has killed? Or the daughter he has to abandon on the most emotional qte sequence that ultimately reverses expectations. You spend the entire series brutaly killing beasts with qtes and the hardest qte in the game is to gently push your daughter that is firmly hugging your leg and begs you not to leave her, but that would mean her demise.

One of the most epic battles in the franchise, hercules was a surprise no one saw coming, back then hercules was like what the dragon is like in the new game
The Olympian gods all had an arrogance and hubris that made them more vulnerable to Kratos; they just couldn't conceive of anyone less than another god taking them out, which left them open to Kratos' rage and determination. But Hercules didn't have that same hubris. Hercules is the gods' intended form of Kratos: a monstrous attack dog they could sic on their enemies whenever they liked. So Kratos defeating Hercules feels like him destroying that version of himself and reclaiming his destiny in full.
Let me guess, you loved this boss battle because it had the same soundtrack as from God of war 2 the collosus.

This is why I will never like the fruity new God of War games.
These games were raw, explosive, and satisfactory to play. You felt good already with the combat, but when the music kicked in... Holy shit, I'm going to go play all the old GoW games again.
