The Hammer of Thor (Mjölnir Mix) [REMASTERED] - God of War Ragnarök Soundtrack

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 30 มิ.ย. 2024
- Music composed by Bear McCreary
Mixed and remastered by Me
Since I released the original Mjölnir Mix, it has become my second most popular video on my channel. Looking back, I thought there were some things I could improve upon, so I went back, re-recorded, remixed, and added a few fun additions, including some voice lines. I consider this a significant improvement over my original work, and I hope you enjoy it!

"Good"
What's this?
Now we’re talking!
That's all? You were finally showing me something
You can hear the fight getting more personal in the final phase. Odin’s theme does not play, it’s all Thor. It’s to show that he’s not fighting Kratos for Odin anymore, but for himself, Sif, Thrúd, and most importantly, his dead sons
I didn’t even notice this until you pointed it out nice hearing and it’s after kratos talks shit about his fatherly ways
For his sons and for baldur too
@@ilpescerosso2469he did not care about Baldur
@justarandomfoxinahat6201 Hmm In The 2018 Game The sons of Thor did say that he trusted Baldur but because of Odin He Started Hated Him Because Baldur Was Having More Respect Than Thor After All He Is His Brother.
@@SICKHYPER"That's for baldur" there might have been a rivalry but they probably did care for one another seeing how one was of giant heritage and the other vanir outcast usually get along better with each other
I love how Thor is showed to be a rival to Kratos, but also a tragic mirror of himself. Kratos is supposed to be a image of what Thor could be, and Thor was a image of who Kratos used to be, and the final fight shows these aspects.
Details I would like to point out:
- Thor and Kratos are roughly similar in strenght, you can see this when they were clashing in the final fight, you can see both are pushing each other back with each strike;
- Leviathan is supposed to be a counter to Mjolnir, but it's also a perfected version of it. In lore, Mjolnir has a flaw which is it's handle, it's too shorter of it's head. This is probably the reason why Thor lost it's grip in the final fight;
- Thor in the final fight is fighting to protect his home and his family, his wife and daughter. Poetic considering Kratos lost his first wife and daughter, but Thor protected his;
- Kratos saw his younger self in Thor, so the final fight was more about Kratos helping Thor release some steam;
- Kratos has proven to be a far more powerful fighter when controling his rage and using strategy. Kratos didn't overpowered Thor, but outmatched him instead;
- Last time Thor called for Mjolnir, he didn't snapped to summon it;
- Like Kratos, Thor got stabbed and killed by his own father.
Beautiful analysis Zeke Jäger
Finally someone says it lol. The amount of times I’ve heard people say Kratos would clap Thor “with just 1%” is so ridiculous. Kratos at the end of the day has won most of his fights by being insanely intelligent and finding solutions to attacks and problems rather than just raw strength
I always wondered what caused Thor to lose his grip. Thor wasn’t overpowered. As we can see that he still pushes Kratos’ axe away with the final hit, but the hammer as it goes back makes Thor lose his grip. Nice potential explanation
@@presseagainidareyou4704 Yeah, and in that final fight that's represented in those quick time cutscenes by Kratos using every last bit of his arsenal on Thor. Blades, the Spear, his own frickin' fists, the Axe made to counter Mjolnir, and lastly the damn knife that's exclusive to cutscenes from both games.
Kratos had to throw everything and the kitchen sink at Thor to subdue his counterpart, and more impressively is doing it without going back to his old ways being in permanent rage mode. But yeah, even back during his permanent rage mode years he still employed his brain to deal with problems as much as swinging his blades around.
Thor is most likely how Kratos would've ended up if he kept serving Ares or chose to serve Zeus instead of defy him

"I did not seek that fight with your brother!"
"I don't care!"
"You sons struck first!"
"Good!"
"This is the God who destroyed a pantheon because they hurt his feelings?"
"You insult me by holding back!"
"Was it luck? Did my sons die to blind fucking luck?!"
"I couldn't give a hot shit about your fatherly advice! I want to see the God of War!"
"You started this, I WILL END IT!"
"Let the God of War out, let me see him!"
"You will join your sons!"
Both fights with Thor are awesome, but I prefer the first one, just for the spectacle for the two of destroying Tyr's Temple and rehsaping the landscape as you go, and the music becoming more and more chaotic as it goes on to show Thor is unleashing more and more of his power while Kratos' dialogue is becoming more aggressive as he's pushed to breaking point. It just goes to show that while Baldur was a threat, his brother is on a whole other level entirely. Plus it ends on that sweet moment where Kratos finally stops holding back and smashes Thor in the jaw hard enough to knock one of his teeth out.
"KEEP HER NAME OUT YOUR DAMN MOUTH!" XD
"I see now why my sons fell to you. Even this...lesser version of you. But I am NOT my sons!"
And your boy? Allfather has PLANS for him!
"Hehe, there he is...there's the God of war."
"Consider your blood debt paid, be seeing ya."
I loved it when Kratos just got sick of his BS and couldn't control himself anymore

What I'm waiting now is Runik0 to upload the lyrics that I know he'll have... hope so ._.
To me I was getting the impression it was supposed to mimic rumbling thunder.
14:02 How can this regular part hit this hard omfg
A literal thunderstorm in musical form.
i need Bury the light and Thors theme remix !!!

Very nice part ❤
Me tooo 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Me too
Honestly love this theme more than kratos’s cuz the different versions of the theme convey emotion and the rise/fall of thor so well
The more somber slow version depicting his depression from the mental abuse from Odin and the alcoholism that ensues and having to battle failing as a father.
The faster pace louder version depicting the rage and the embodiment of being the god of thunder. Bear killed this theme to perfection
You hear him sober up and then the mead fills his veins again
4:09 the soundtrack syncs with the scene, when leviathan axe strikes mjolnir. Love that
So Thor actually killed Kratos but he decided he wanted to fight a little more and reanimated him??
Damn that's badass
Wonder if counts as a reference to what Thor does to his goats on the regular.
@@AEsir_Goji it does. Eric Williams confirmed it.
Damn they discovered how to shock a dying person so they live again in ancient times
@@soloamaro5605 These fanboys are so boring, yes. If they would actually observe and think, they would see that Kratos has to control himsepf, a prime Thor is on par with Kratos, and Odin is the most powerful god in both pantheons.
@@soloamaro5605 not to be that guy but kratos is actually stronger than Thor, he did beat his ass in the end, and was heavily holding back throughout the entire game, he never used his actual rage strength and Thor knew that, that's why he kept pestering him into tapping into the true Spartan rage ("i am not leaving till i see the REAL you, GET UP" - Thor after reviving kratos) that's also why he left at the end, after he got to witness a glimpse of kratos's true strength
7:53 I actually thought my headphones stopped working... (I had my phone in my pocket) that was such a fucking cool surprise. Well played 👏
My favorite thing about gowr is that Thor knows exactly how strong Kratos is.
In fact, Thor may actually think that Kratos is stronger than he really is.
Like Marvels Asgardians, Kratos gets stronger as he ages, almost to the point where he only uses 30% of his power in base.
Just to make it clear, Base gowr Kratos is stronger than Rage Gow3 Kratos, probably by a considerable margin.
Then there's there's the word "pantheon" that Thor uses...
What does pantheon mean to Thor? Does that mean tens, dozens, hundreds, or thousands of gods?
Lets be realistic and say dozens, because we only really hear about 20 gods or so from gow1-3.
Thor assumingly knew all of the foes Kratos fought.
Then there's the matter of the valkyries, who are faster than light and bring souls to their proper place, so fast, they can be all over the 9 realms in picoseconds.
Not to mention Kratos killed his brother and sons...
After knowing all that Thor wanted to fight and could see that Kratos was holding back.
Even Rage Kratos was a minor boost in comparison.
Despite all that, Thor STILL wanted a piece.
only 2 fights.....thats a crime to me
Kratos didn’t kill demos or have son
@@Meatslap thor's brother and sons
How do you know he only uses his 30%? Because I think kratos won against thor by using the strategy of being a general and using tactics, not because his raw stength. Remember that kratos died in his first fight, and thor reanimated him like he does with his goats in the true mitology
@dakorpse9801 there was a dev quote somewhere that in base Kratos is around 30%.
In the trailer last September, when I heard the background music at the part of the scene "what is it you will not tell me" I knew already that's gonna be the background music for Thor boss fight and I was right. This music perfectly fits
Yeah it sounds so powerful that it just makes sense
i laughed so hard that i nearly died from 0:11 to 0:25 thinking that it was actually a staring contest and once thor won, kratos began punching him with anger
You know what I like about The Hammer of Thor? It feels like a Kratos song.
This feels like something you'd hear if you played as Thor.
B : Toldja he's make it !
S : Kratos ! It's Sindri and Brok ! That was quite a fight ... Can we ?
K : Home ! Now ! Odin is with Atreus !
S : Oh no ... I ll go get a gateway ready.
B : C'mon then ! Ain't a long walk !
I love the music's end :)
I really love too the "phase two" theme with the chords (04:30 - 11:50) . Thor saying "Oh oh ... no, I say WHEN we re done" made me laugh so hard.
The titles you gave for each section are godlike
i like kratos walter when he said jesse wait for me jesse
I played gow RAGNAROK with my cousin who is 3 years younger than me and when we saw Thor my cousin said "why is Thor evil and fat" marvel fans when they think of Thor they think of Chris Hemsworth 😂😂😂

Thor sees the real God of War Ragnarök (2022)
Thor is one of my favourite gods in all of mythologies
In old tale where he, Loki n two other travellers went to utgard a kingdom of a mysterious giant king called utgard Loki he tested them
Thor had to drink from a small cup, lift a cat & wrestle there champion who was and old woman
He drank from the cup but could only only drink a little bit of it, he lifted the cat by only it’s back-legs & got wrestled to one knee by the old woman
The giant king later revealed he had lifted the world serpent & shifted the earths plates, he shrunk the sea level with the amount he drunk & he wrestled time whom most would lose to immediately but he lasted his, strength is not only great but it is lasting
I love Thor
The giant king then banished them from his kingdom as he deed them Thor especially as too dangerous
So… was this everything you hoped for?

🚨spoiler alert🚨
Thor has the same feeling of just unyielding fight, the kind that wants to inflict mental and phyical pain. He enjoys it and that fact it won't stop until one drops or IF he reveives them, like he did Kratos. That's badass and scary too.
people keep talking about how impressive the fight it, as a music school undergrad student, i am more impressive as how Bear McCreary was able to make music sound so violent and tragic at the same time
Can we all take a second and agree this music combined with this sick art is amazing 👌
"Have at thee, naive" - Thor
I know it's past, but what would've been cool in the final fight scene against Thor is that Thor can steal and wield the Leviathan Axe from Kratos while using Mjolnir, giving a tongue-in-cheek reference to Avengers: Endgame (2019).
Making Thor too OP for Kratos, but Kratos using his Blades of Chaos along with his additional weapons, against Thor dual wielding both the Hammer and Axe, suggesting to the players that the gloves are off and that the boss fight is ante'd up a bit! But hey that's my suggestion.
Funny how everyone (myself included) tends to call it "Thor's theme" when it's in fact a remix of Odin's theme.
I always saw Odin’s Theme as a remix of Thor’s Theme personally
@@TheNorthman436 we hear Thor’s theme first but when you think of it, it makes sense to call it Odin’s theme
Odin’s grip on Thor and the Aesir people is so tight his own motif is theirs as well.
12:39 to the end is where it’s purely Thor’s theme. Credit to the current top commenter for pointing it out too.
This is why I adore Bear McCreary's music, as it is very unique, and intense. Especially Thor's boss fight music here!
First of all, I want to say that listening to this mix during a thunderstorm creates an interesting effect! Secondly, it was at this moment, when Thor said his phrase (7:54), lightning immediately flashed outside my window and thunder sounded. The most uncanny coincidence in my life.
