in my shop i have lathes, mills, CNC machines, drills and all kinds of fabrication means. last month I started working with wood, so I had to get some large clamps. I didn't even though of fabricating them cause I though I was too damn difficult. now I'm watching you fabricating them with your fingernails on a tiny shop with tiny tools and I'm self kicking my self in the ass. I own a huge fabrication shop and I can't even fab my own shit. you really do remind me of myself as a young fabricator on a garage with no tools but a lot of self confidence and will to do. I really thank you for reminding me that "when you want, you can". please never give up man, and when you get really big in fabrication never forget that everything is possible even with no tools. THANK YOU.
I know this was a few years ago now, but this is the first video of yours I have come across and I had to say how much I like your approach to designing the things you make. These clamps and the belt sander are simple, easy to make and extremely robust. Most "maker" type would fall short on every one of these, the trend is to make things which are overly complicated, awkward to make, expensive in components and not actually working that well.
Of the thousands of DIY videos out there, this is one of a handful that I actually found useful, well done, and something I am going to make. I may just subscribe simply because of Your attitude and sense of humor. Well done.

I do not know how they can did not like this video A step-by-step beauty of this sergeant I liked very much of Brazil and an inscribed of its splendid channel. Congratulations.
The cross pin is absolutely necessary. I've made these clamps many times over the years and after some use the handles will slip on the threaded rod if you don't have a pin to stop them or small bolt going through the handle and rod. You did a really good job with the clamps. Great job done well.
What a great presentation for the F-clamps. Very well executed and great instructions you did a great job. Also your belt sander or belt grinder that you built is a beautiful piece of art and it’s a well built design. You should be very proud of your self for such a great creation. Please keep making videos.
Very well made video, very good attention to detail. I work as a Senior VP of Engineering and quality, and a DiY enthusiast and I like to make stuff, and I over engineer everything I make and make it super tough and strong and heavy, and this video meets all my expectations. Like the dry humor, especially about the 639 people asking for the metal pin for the handle. Good work, keep it up.
Another excellent video Cosmas. Unfortunately I can not help you from my country. We, in Venezuela, are living a disaster but I will be praying for you, your family and your excellent talent. May GOD continue blessing you!!!
Brilliant build. I think I'll give these a go, but will use aluminium for the long bar. I also thought that if the bar was bolted on to the top jaw, I could swap out the bar for long or short bars as needed. Then I can have the shorter clamps for every day use, and then with a few minutes work with a couple of spanners, I could have a set of long clamps. Thanks for the inspiration.
At 7:40 when you weld the nuts, just lightly grind or use the wire brush to remove the gal from where you are welding first. Much less fumes and much safer.
What a brilliant project once i get to my workshop tomorrow i will try to make some. You can never have enough clamps in my opinion Good luck from Ireland
time 13:15... I feel your pain... You know its going to happen and you are forced to say something about it... then it still happens... I think we were suppose to be brothers. I am not sure how you ended up on the other side of the world. See you on your patreon page. :)
great video , especially the little bits regarding the lower jaw, my question is i didnt see you removing mill scale from the raw steel bars , is removing important or simply painting on top of it will prevent rust, i have a stick welder, just beginning to start small projects.
really nice idea on the swivel ends of the clamp.. On the back, if it has too much swivel, grind a smaller width grouve, a little further back, and use a smaller washer, or a piece of flat plate, drilled like a washer, split it in half, slide it over the all thread, and then tack it back together.. You can adjust the amount of swivel you want in your clamps.. Too much is a pain in the tail.. Not enough is not bad, as long as it spins easily.. Cheers.. Nice Clamps.. Also saw you converting them to parallel clamps.. Also a great idea.. Wouldn't take long to switch them back and forth and use them for either metal or glue ups.. Cheers Mate from the USA.. Nice Job.. Subbed!!
panji yudha The flux from stick welding creates toxic fumes, which is where MIG welding is safer. The toxic exhalations when welding galvanised parts are vaporised zinc which is also highly toxic if breathed in. But loved the video.
Making your own clamps is soo nice, monetary good too. Mainly because under the right kind of shining light, you can get the stock materials for next to nothing. Example: from a friend i inherited 7 spring compressing kits, that's 14 Acme threads. Sure, they were a bit worn out, but for a F clamp, that's perfectly okay, which is corroborated by the fact that i've been using the home made clamps for so long now that i'm at the point where i have to replace the spine on a few of them because i whaled on them sooo much they're starting to curve, yet the threads are just as i have received them.
I will bet I looked at a dozen videos today. THIS IS THE BEST!! "639 folks are going to suggest that," and " n7.05479... pounds" I laughed out loud on both!
For those who don't have taps for creating the threaded hole for the retaining bolt, just drill a bolt clearance hole and use a bolt and nut. For extra neatness, use a thin nut and cut off the protruding part of the bolt thread. A great video and really useful low cost clamps.
if a 1/4" hole in the center is acceptable, hole saws are a great way to make alot of small disks the same diameter quickly, i like the milwuakee ones they cut mild steel really well, they do require some oil though and i strong wrist if youre doing it with a hand drill
What you could do is if you wanted to change the design of your F clamps by making them spread items as well as clamp all you need do is unloosing the fixed side then slide it up a bit drill a hole in the long section that way it still clamps but you can take the short bits off turn them around put them back together bolt back in ready to spread cool idea oh yea.
My cheap f clamps have small handles that are always hard to tighten or loosen. Especially since they are kinda rounded and provided no grip either. The large and edged grip looks good on the clamps. But I have to try them out to know. Please send some to me..... erm for testing purposes.
Try putting a bucket with water underneath the sander, so all the sparks and dust go into the water. Much easier to clean. Obviously, you need to secure it somehow so you don't tip it by accident. Besides that, nice work, as usual.
i have just started welding and i like the "chamfer the corners to give the welds more body" idea i wish i saw this video before i did my last welding job it might of turned out a bit less like a haemorrhoid and more like a weld

Which, in short, is no help nor use to the viewers!
This guy is good!

I think one of the best ideas out there making F clamps.. Great work bud.. Certainly gona steal your idea for this, Thank you
Enviable work station and tools. Paradise.
hey kid, many older could learn from you. Absolutely marvelous job with clams.
Another excellent video Cosmas. Unfortunately I can not help you from my country. We, in Venezuela, are living a disaster but I will be praying for you, your family and your excellent talent. May GOD continue blessing you!!!
You think if you can make those clamps with out welding for those people who don't own a welding machine Can you make a video on that?
This video puts me on the way to make my own clamps. Thanks
The clamps are great! Nice touch putting them on the rack at the end...

Best F clamp video I have ever seen. Will try to make a set! Thank you for the inspiration!

genius ! thats the tutorial i was looking for , im gonna make them. Cheers from Argentina!

Nice build. Great sense of humor. Thanks.
IM-PEC-CABLE... Vous êtes plus qu'un professionnel... Félicitation Cosmas Bauer.
not bad idea, soon i will built this kind of clamp equipment when i start building me a furnitures, thanks for your beautiful video,..

@@CosmasBauer, a channel called "the art of life" re-uploaded your vid.
u should put a cross pin in the handle for added strength
handdancin He did.
@ 13:15 you are one of the 639 who will complain about it.
handdancin I got your comedy mate 😀
Chad Voller ok
I've seen many videos about F-Clamps..C-Clamps building. In my opinion this is the best of all. Congratulation!
One of the best homemade clamps
Those are top quality clamps. I would be proud to own 25 of them. NEVER HAVE ENOUGH CLAMPS‼️👍👍 Vinny 🇺🇸
man that is one badass looking belt sander!!

do u have a good ventilation/ air circulation? u use a stickweld/smaw, it's really bad to inhale
panji yudha The flux from stick welding creates toxic fumes, which is where MIG welding is safer. The toxic exhalations when welding galvanised parts are vaporised zinc which is also highly toxic if breathed in. But loved the video.
if you put pad on top of clamp where you angled them they could be used to clamp or push apart material.

Great idea! I've had a pair of spring compressors hogging up space in my box for years.
please tell me. What is the number of revolutions in your cut-off machine? And which company do you use and the model?
I will bet I looked at a dozen videos today. THIS IS THE BEST!! "639 folks are going to suggest that," and " n7.05479... pounds" I laughed out loud on both!
Echt geil geworden die Teile, wow!
I have been looking everywhere for a way to make the swivel head. I can't even find out how they make them on genuine clamps. Cheers.
What was that yiubadded at 6:14 so as not to make it too tight?
Yep.
Is your sander reversible, noticed the sparks were flying up the second time you used it in the video. If so, what is the advantage?
Cooles Projekt, cooles Feuerwerk...und großartiger Humor. Dankeschön für die gute Unterhaltung 😃
Excellent work, they will last a few lifetimes; how things should be built.
I took your advice and held my breath all day. Now I'm dead, thanks!
For those who don't have taps for creating the threaded hole for the retaining bolt, just drill a bolt clearance hole and use a bolt and nut. For extra neatness, use a thin nut and cut off the protruding part of the bolt thread. A great video and really useful low cost clamps.
Excellent video. Good workmanship. Cheers from Michael. Australia.
Respect!!! 👍👍👍
very well made bar clamps, last for year's, no doubt it gave you pleasure making them, gets my thumbs up.
A handy tip is to weld a nut at the base of the handle incase you need to tighten extra with a shifter spanner
Good job! I suggest you to put a piece of dense rubber on the top of the clamp. This avoids marks on clamped parts. Thanks for the video.
Very nice Cosmas. I can't wait to see the sander build.
nice job do not forget the dowel in the handle
Cosmas, where is the video of building the belt grinder?
Excellent clamps. Keep a good works.

Very simple, strong and durable. Great work. Thumbs up young man.

could you add a metal cutting saw blade to a normal woodworking chop saw to chop steel like that?
If your saw has variable speed and constant electronic that would work. But the saw could still be damaged if it is not beefy enough.
cool thanks. I would go very slowly if I was cutting some steel. My chop saw is a cheapo model though lol
It does not help if you go slow. The RPM must be low. If your saw is a cheapo one then it is going to be destroyed.
yeah, then it's probably not my best option lol, thanks for the info =)
Gracias.
My cheap f clamps have small handles that are always hard to tighten or loosen. Especially since they are kinda rounded and provided no grip either. The large and edged grip looks good on the clamps. But I have to try them out to know. Please send some to me..... erm for testing purposes.
Hi there... What is the drill stand your using?
Very good work. Can you tell me which glue is you using iron and wooden paint?

Awesome!..if you ever sell it. How much would each clamp costs?
What belt grinder is that? I'm in the process of gathering materials to build mine.
My homemade belt grinder.
Ah yes. Sorry I got excited and commented before the end of the video! Looks great!
What type of welder are you using
You are good mate, as a welder and a fabricator.
EXCELLENT!
Also very well explained. Thank you.
Greetings from Mar del Plata, Argentina. (Translated with Google)
Good ideas and excellent workmanship
i have just started welding and i like the "chamfer the corners to give the welds more body" idea i wish i saw this video before i did my last welding job it might of turned out a bit less like a haemorrhoid and more like a weld
Which welding rod did you use?
Hi. I work with metal and wood as an amateur. What is the brand of your drill stand and what do you recommend?
Very Nice and wonderful technique.
Sonst: Top!
Super video ! Was findest du essentieller? Schlagschrauber oder nagelpistole mit kompressor?
what is that measuring tool you use in 2:09? thank you
It's a caliper and he's using it to "remember" a reference distance.
Thank you sir
Really awesome build. Not that easy, not that difficult if you know what to do. Really like you start expressing your humorous side. :)
Tidy, clean work, and excellent quality video.
j'adore
Thank you for showing what you are going to do first.
Brilliant build video
Wonderful work. Congratulations. And thanks for the idea…
Congratulations . In my country when the guy is better in something We say: Voce é o cara! I´m brasilian.
Really like your creativity...its amazing
Hey, you know what would be useful when getting the adhesive to dry properly? Some F clamps........
Best video in "make clamps"
What are those 2 bright pieces at 6:13
Pieces of corrugated tin can.
I'm going to call you Dr. FRANKENCLAMP for creating these beautiful clamp beasts. You are awesome.
Danke schon! Great work.
exellent, should support this.
Gracias Cosmas, un abrazo desde San Juan Argentina
Very nicely done, impressed.
How long it took you to make all 5?
