Suspect Located Concealed in Pond After Stealing Vehicle

Air-1, a joint aviation unit of TPD and LCSO, is an invaluable resource in securing a safe and successful apprehension when a suspect is on the run.
Earlier this week, officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle driving in the area of Pasco Street and Orange Avenue. Before officers could attempt a traffic stop, the suspect bailed out of the vehicle and fled into the woods near Bragg Drive.
With the help of our friends at the Leon County Sheriff's Office, a K9 track was established and Air-1 guided officers into a pond where the suspect was submerged and very well concealed from officers’ view, with only his head above water to breathe.
The suspect was ultimately safely taken into custody and charged accordingly.
It takes teamwork, dedication to the call, and abundant resources working cohesively to enhance the safety of our community.
